    I don't usually buy a product after watching one TH-cam video but that USB hub is exactly what I need. I was planning on buying a non-elgato one anyway and seeing that they have one that'll fit right on my stream deck +?!? No brainer.

      Same tbh!
      I usually encourage people to watch multiple vids first BUT these new USB hubs are great! especially if you already have a streamdeck+ and want to save some desk space space

    I’m surprised they haven’t made a gaming mixer, that can actually rival the GoXlR

    • @ajsarsfield
      @ajsarsfield  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The GoXLR was WAY ahead of its time! 🙃
      I have no idea how TC Helicon made the GoXLR & still made a profit.
      Its so difficult for companies to have a physical mixer, good software all the I/O of the GoXLR and it still be affordable for creators who don't often need all of those features!
      .
      I think the closest anyone ever came to that type of device was the Rode Duocaster but that's close to £500

  • @MDTechTips

    Love the video, love the product. Buuuutttt. What I'd like to see personally (just my opinion) is that xlr be a hiz/xlr combo with phantom power. This is a huge boost to the versatility of the unit. Another usb c port would also be massive. But that upgrade xlr port would make it impossible to turn down.

    Unless they are building a new dock and adding separate connectivity for the stream deck portion and some audio in/out maybe an amp,
    this is pretty useless for a 2 pc setup.

  • @barneyjack
    @barneyjack 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Some food for thought!! You can run this Streamdeck+ on the streaming computer and then use Logitech Mixline (new mixing only software, no vst's and its FREE) on the gaming PC, under the output, you can send ALL of your gaming computer sounds thru the HDMI that goes into the Capture card! I have a setup kind of like this, and the Mixline software DOES work nice with both Elgato and Beacn Mixing software and requires NO windows settings changes!! I say it as thru the HDMI, this is assuming you only have elgato on 1 PC of course, but elgato does NOT support Hardware line-in inputs as a channel (Beacn does), but elgato DOES support taking audio from a capture card :) :) :) :)

      They have the Same preamps, just in a different form factor.
      So they should sound exactly the same.
      Both also have 75db of gain which WAY more than an SM7B needs to be loud enough
      I have an SM7B and I run it at about 55db on my XLR Dock so there's loads of headroom for extra gain if necessary...

    @Nightowl1 First off I really enjoy your videos and find them very helpful. Secondly I would like your opinion on whether or not I should upgrade from the Elgato Wave 3 to the Shure SM7B, I just started steaming on Twitch a little more than two weeks ago and I am off to a hot start thanks to my “clout by association” is there enough of a difference for streaming and video content to warrant this upgrade in your opinion? Thank you in advance for any feedback you can provide.

    • @ajsarsfield
      @ajsarsfield  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If you've ONLY just started streaming then IMO the SM7B isn't worth it yet
      (Its probably not worth it for most people tbh)
      The Wave 3 is actually the BEST choice for you right now.
      Its affordable
      Easy to use
      Sounds good (although let's in a bit more BG noise)
      And has Wavelink software Included so you can control and organise all your audio sources
      Besides, there's alot of cheaper options out there that are similar to the SM7B and sound 90% as good
      Both the Elgato Wave DX and RODE Podmic are great Upgrade options
      (I own both)
      And cost about £300 less than an SM7B
      Cause don't forget, if you're upgrading to an "XLR" mic you'll also need an audio Interface..
      So whatever you pay for the SM7B you need to add on another £150-£200 to connect it to your PC
      .
      .
      If you DO want to upgrade eventually, Personally I'd wait a while until You're making ok money from streaming/videos
      No point spending £500+ on a setup which frankly won't improve your content, you'd be better putting that money back into your channel in other ways that make it more entertaining to watch OR for help making content on other platforms to market and grow your channels 🔥
      Keep it up though!
      Streaming is fun AF but it's defo a LONG road for most of us!
      Keep creating, keep learning and you can genuinely do amazing things with your content 🔥

    So that's 70 euro's for the dock, and another 50 or so for a 100W charger en two cables (I have a standing desk, so the 1 meter cable it comes with is too short). Is this USB-dock really a good deal? I don't think it is. For way less than 120/130 euro's I can buy a powered dock with way more ports that I can screw/stick put under my desk. Looks cleaner and is cheaper. Sure, I'll miss the SD-card reader, but I wouldn't use that anyway. And else you can just stick one next to the USB-hub and sacrifice one of the ports for that.

  • @john_hind
    @john_hind 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I really cannot see the point of either of these two devices. Both the USB cables to the hub and the XLR cable to the sound card could otherwise be concealed away under your desk. All you gain is one USB cable to the hub or sound card which can now be shared with the USB-C cable to the Stream Deck. But now you've got multiple cables unnecessarily running to the Stream Deck and constraining how easily you can move that around the desktop. Not a good tradeoff IMHO particularly as both devices command a significant price premium over stand alone equivalents! A better idea would have been a standalone USB hub plus XLR sound card with no controls, then you could plug ANY Stream Deck into that, conceal it away under the desk and just need one cable to the computer.

    • @PrometheusX23

    • @john_hind
      @john_hind 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@PrometheusX23 My point is that it is not a benefit to have unnecessary cables running to a desktop human interface device. Take the extreme case of a mouse: it would be crazy to combine a USB hub with a mouse because all the extra cables would get in the way of movement. Same to a lesser extent combining a hub with a Stream Deck. Elgato's hub device is just an ordinary hub designed to clip to a Stream Deck: it is just the same as having a separate hub and plugging the Stream Deck (ANY Stream Deck) into that. The original Elgato XLR ADC only needed to be on the desktop because it had a level control on top. That is removed from the new unit, so again there is no reason to combine it with the Stream Deck. I suggested a better new product for Elgato would be a combined USB hub and XLR ADC with fully software control. Plug any Stream Deck into this and you save lots of USB ports and still only need one cable to the Stream Deck. The new device would extend all its controls to the Stream Deck so there would be no need for it to be on the desktop so you can hide it away somewhere, plus you have both XLR and hub functionality simultaneously.

      Hello my friend, streaming doesn't need to be expensive, but the cost does mount up, pc/laptop with a good cpu, for multiple applications running, hard drive to save record footage camera ssd separate from your main C drive.
      A Microphone 🎤 some web cameras have this built in.
      Software OBS is free open source software or steamlabs,
      Plenty of help and advice on TH-cam channels for tutorials.
      Set yourself a budget and stay within that, you can always add to thing later if your hobby channel grows with your passion.
      Good luck for the future

      @MrTrooper65 that's exactly what I did!
      When i first started, I only had an OLD iMac to stream off.
      So i just played console games using a cheap capture card, a £50 webcam & £30 mic..
      It was all I could afford at the time, but as you grow your account's you can obviously upgrade & put any donations or subs etc back into your channel!
      Start with what YOU can afford and don't listen to anyone who says you NEED certain pieces of tech to besuccessfull.
      (Sure some things help)
      But they aren't necessary, some of the BIGGEST creators still use cheap/basic gear

    The Stream deck Unfortunately does not let you close apps and windows so you end up back using a mouse anyway. As for this toy USB hub you need to buy a 100w power source for it to work properly. In short this hub is Pretty useless and a waste of money. Better off buying a toggle or another hub for FAR less money. Elgato needs to come straight. Sketchy.
