I’ve always appreciated Shigaraki’s character a lot. I mean, people argue that he doesn’t really have much purpose as a villain but him, along with most the other villains, are walking representation of what can and will happen in a flawed society. He was willing to fight with Overhaul and seemed lost asf when Overhaul used a human shield, which I think was basically just a way to point out some contrast from Shigaraki to other villains. Overhauls presented as someone who’s not very trusting toward his members and etc., while Shigaraki trusted his members to do what’s right without even needing to imply the revenge or betrayal. Not to mention, he did it for Magne (which he hadn’t known long) and Compress. I really enjoy the idea of Shigaraki being the hero for villains because it doesn’t fall far off from his actions, and there’s always room for his comrades.

Unfotunately, Shigaraki's major flaw is the same with almost ALL revolutions: what happens after? What if Shigaraki had defeated Deku during the final battle (assuming AFO failed to regain control), how would he rebuild. He proclaims he'd rebuild it, but HOW, no grand gestures, the minor details. Because its a lot harder than he thinks, and his revolution would devolve into something worse: anarchy. Where only the strongest rule. And that system has just as many flaws, if not more, than the current system he rebelled against.
Well that's what the PLF was for. Destroy the status quo and rebuild with him either being the true pinnacle of fear and mercy. He didn't wanna rule the world, hell I doubt he'd even care if he died doing it but he had for his own purposes at that point had to destroy the current system. And the PLF would obviously help rebuild and guide Tomara to be a righteous leader. Think of kinda what Garou from OPM wanted. But he was less realistic in the aftermath of his goal, yet hope that he'd give the world a common enemy. Shiggy stood on business low-key 💯

@mrweirdguy5249 but, here's the problem...not all of the revolutionaries agree with each other, be it fictional or in history. Take the French revolution. Once the king was deposed, they started to trun against each other, thus beginning the reign of terror. This culminated in the rise of Napoleon. Another was the Russian Revolution. After it ended, Stalin began to hunt down allies of the revolution, consolidating his power to become a dictator, and that trend continued till the end of the Cold War (and even after, to some extent). In fiction, we had the Star Wars rebellion (both legends and disney). After the rebellion won, and the republic was reformed, they splintered, allowing the rise of opposing forces, such as Thrawn or the First Order (legends and Disney, respectively). Think of Shigaraki. Dabi and Marble man (cant remember his name) dont care about making a better world. Dabi just wants Endeavor to suffer.

You'd have to be 100% completely blind to Shigaraki's actions to have a take such as "Shigaraki was right". Either that or massively underplay what he's done. He's killed tens of thousands if not hundreds of thousands of people dude. He feels no remorse for it. He feels no empathy nor sympathy for the lives he ruins. We saw the aftermath. Countless kids crying having lost their parents. Parents having their worst nightmare come true of losing a child. 1. A tragic backstory does NOT justify the murder of tens of thousands of people. You walking the streets for an hour and not finding a hero to save you does NOT justify you orphaning countless children and i dislike how some act like it does. Since when was a person experiencing something bad in their life justification for bad acts? In real life, lets say someone had a really traumatic childhood. Lets say, this guy grew up to be a serial killer who's killed countless families and has killed your own loved ones as well with 0 remorse. Infact they were grinning ear to ear and saying they'd continue until nobody was left. But dont worry, he intends to change the world "for the better" by doing these acts. Would you then say "The killer was right, he had a poor wittle backstory and has big dreams, so its justified". Or would you expect this person to rot in prison and/or outright get the chair? If you expect that fate for this killer, then why is Shigaraki who's done far worse, different? 2. One of the worst aspects of MHA's villains but especially Shigaraki, is the sheer hypocrisy of it all. He says hero's cause suffering and pain to people. This is true, they are human after all. Its on a significantly smaller scale and they save far more than they hurt but it is still true, they can cause suffering here and there. According to Shigaraki they cannot be saved. To Shigaraki they must ALL be destroyed. For this small amount of suffering they cause, they must all be decayed. But on the same coin, Shigaraki has saved only a handful of people and has killed thousands. That is an overwhelming net negative. Yet the series and he himself act like he should be saved. Like he shouldn't be the one who should be destroyed. The writing here is completely backwards. 3. Another thing i heavily dislike about Shigaraki is that he took away what should've been the point of its villains in this series. I can feel for Toga. I can feel for twice. I can understand Spinner. I can see them making a real positive change in MHA if they lived longer. They could've truly shined some light on how the hero world can be improved. Yet it all got thrown under the bus by their absolute moron of a leader who decided to take the limelight away from mental health and how some Quirks can change your brain which was a very real topic in MHA to "Unga bunga, lets cause mass genocide and terrorism". You can sympathize with being born with something you did not ask for and being mistreated for it. You can sympathize with people discriminating against you for something you cant change, like how you look. Y'know what you can't sympathize with? Literal terrorism. Shigaraki completely takes away what the league of villains should've represented by taking the route he did. The writing aspect of MHA's Villains is by far its weakest point and this is coming from someone who use to have MHA as their #1 favorite anime even when it was a highly unpopular take. It completely fails to make me sympathize with a majority of its villains and actively ruins the moment whenever one of them goes on one of their hypocritical speeches and the series tries to gaslight me into thinking they just said something smart. Mainly talking about Dabi and Shigaraki there. The villains were such a missed opportunity its actually insane. MHA could've truly had some of the best villains in animanga history but we instead got this garbo writing which took this series down from a 10/10 to like a 7/10 and its only going lower.

You ignore and gloss over one important thing. Nothing tomura did was of his own choice and AFO made him the way he is. From the moment he was born to the moment he died. The society can't always be blamed because at the end of the day heroes cant be everywhere at once. They aren't God's and very few can predict the future so its not like they had any way to save Tomura before AFO got involved. Heroes and villains always will exist and they'll always be at odds but the defining factor here is what a hero decides to do when a villain has crossed the line and Tomura CROSSED THE LINE. There was no saving what he had become because Tomura didn't want saving. He wanted to destroy everything because he felt society had failed him when in reality AFO planned all this shit from the beginning and gave her the outlook that society was entirely fucked up when in reality there are good people out there and had all might known about his family he would've been there but AFO set it up to where that wasnt possible. So no shigaraki was not right.

What makes the MHA universe so hypothetical is that some quirk users believe the quirkless are a waste of space when reality it's villains such as Moonfish, Muscular, the villains at the USJ etc, are the ones who make life for people a living hell and yet no quirk worthless. If you ask me, Midoriya should've looked up to Eraserhead, Nighteye, Mirko, and more because some of the heroes have quirks that give attributes of a quirkless person.

No Quirk user believes in that, in fact Quirkless is never mentioned beyond the first chapters of first Episode, because that's how little Horikoshi bothered writing about Quirkless people.
I've been watching mha for the first time, and I've just finished s5. Shigaraki was your typical bad guy gang leader in s1. He destroyed both of Overhauls arms in s3 or 4, which gave me chills. By the end of s5, he felt legitimately terafying. He's definitely my favourite vilen in the series so far, Dabi is a close 2nd but only because of his visual design. Deku and Todoroki are easily my favourite heroes.
"So far" Dude the series is just about done. All that's left is to finish the climax of the manga which ended up being two entire seasons because it's so long.
Listen what I love so much about tomura is that he actually grew and developed with the main character. A lot of shows just put a big bad wolf for the villain give em a sad Backstory and woah you got a villain
First, your intro blew me away! Your editing and music choice are perfect! Moving on, I do not think Shigaraki is a hero, but he does have a point. The hero society is not evil, but there are some major flaws. The public(coddled trash) would rather let them rot rather than address the uncomfortable truth. Not surprisingly, Shigaraki's path of destruction will not change anything. There is a strong chance the Hero Public Safety Commission will take more extreme measures to combat villains. The commission may carry out more assassinations on the people Shigaraki wants to help.
This is why I love Shigaraki, my perspective can relate to his. As much as people don't like to hear this, people actually prefer being nice to a random stranger who is going to forget about the their existance 3 days after their funeral rather then actually being nice towards the ones who they're suppose to love the most. It's disgusting. And later on parents wonder why their child doesn't want to talk to them anymore..
His character reminds me of minority groups that are clearly oppressed but the people that oppress them act like they care and when the oppressed get mad and stand up they call them terrorists or gangs something to mind control people

Arguably the best written modern shonen villians, while some might say its Sukuna but Shigaraki saw his dreams getting trampled by his own father while his Grandma was a Hero, nobody helped him even his mother told him to not talk about "Heroes" infront of his father thats just sad man. That gave him enough rights to be a villain.
I must say I am disappointed with how Shigaraki's story played out. I wanted him to be truly free of All For One so he could become his own villain. I feel like Shigaraki never got the chance to reach his full potential as a villain. As a villain, he was overflowing with such potential and promise. I kind of feel cheated that I won't get to see what he could have been. Imagine if his body reached full power and he was in complete control of it. In addition to this, imagine if he still had control of the Paranormal Liberation Front in its entirety and took full advantage of what it had to offer. That would have been a villain I would want to see. What a waste.

Shigaraki is by a large a revolutionary figure, standing as the amalgamation of the effects from the corruption of hero society. Imagine being a citizen from the capital of Panem (Hunger Games), Shigaraki is a demonic version of Kathi’s Everdeen
Shigaraki was very specifically painted by the narrative as a natural, inevitable product of the Hero Society and the living embodying of the mounting hypocrisies reaching the tipping point.
Tomura could have been a amazing character if the parasite known as All For One who pretty much dictated his whole life, and make no mistake nobody could have even saved the boy if they wanted too, because All For One would have killed anyone who got close to Tenko. All this just to hurt All Might to his core and to later become a vessel for himself, and the tragic tale of him is that while he brought up great points of how corrupt society is he was ignorantly broken at how destructive and unproductive the side of criminals and villainy. Tomura talks about how he will destroy the world, but how will he create a new world where destroy everything and everyone, where does it ends and will his friends even be saved or just be destroyed by his hand similar to how he destroyed his family when his quirk first showed up. Tomura is the breaking point of society but sadly he doesn’t know how to build a new one as all he truly knows is destruction and death, but it is his greatest lesson to Izuku to learn from him and how his life led to this destructive change in society and build a new on his own.
Nah bro, Shigaraki is not justified. He was manipulated. He wasn’t abandoned he was just “saved” by the wrong person. Civilians left him alone under the impression that a Pro hero would come for him. A Hero would have but All for One found him first… and made it so he would be the one to find him at his lowest. He gave him Decay and only came after his mind was Decayed as an easily influential child. Heroes are Heroes Society is Society Villains are Villains Shigaraki has no right to murder thousands of innocents just because his dad hit him and people looked at him weird. He could have chosen to make things better for people like him and others that feel the same way he does, but he chose to kill countless people who never harmed him, never harmed others, and would never kill if they didn’t have to. His story is tragic, but he is not in the Right.

That's how Shigaraki could've done it as well. He had an immensely powerful and dangerous quirk. Given time he would've been taken in if nothing else like Hawks. If he had a stronger will like Shoji and Shoto, he also could've just held out longer like they did to change the hero society from within. Shigaraki took what's effectively the worst path possible if his goal was to fix the world/expose its faults.

I sometime wonder if no one truly never tried to help him before All For One. By that I mean since All For One is such a manipulative guy would he had really left it up to chance that a passing hero could meet Tomura before the latter hit rock bottom? I feel like he would have insured that no hero came close to where Tomura was. I mean the guy went through all that trouble finding the grandson of a previous One For All user and gave him an incomplete Quirk, at this point AFO would be too invested to leave it up to chance.

Honestly he isn’t just one of the best modern Shonen villains. He’s one of the best supervillains of all time (honestly rivaling the best of Marvel and DC).
Shigaraki may be correct about his world's societal flaws and corruption leading to people like him being victimized by injustice, but that still doesn't excuse him from all the terrible crimes and murders he's committed, regardless of All For One's mental conditioning. Tenko Shimura is the real victim here, and his life was warped into a living nightmare because of All For One's influence, which is why his life was so bad for him due to what his father experienced. Again, Tomura Shigaraki has a very good point, but the way he went about changing things would have left even more miserable people like him in the end.
This also shows that Stain was also correct in his ideology of fake Heroes plague that Society. I don't know exactly Stains backstory but seeing his reasons and your talk about Shigaraki, they both have the goal of taking down a plagued Society

The fact that the only person who ever lifted a finger to help shigiraki and these villains was the literal demon lord sworn rival of one for all really tells you he had no choice but to become a villain they had nobody else to look to for help yet by some twisted miracle the one person hero society deemed a monster reaches out to help them it's a twisted sense of irony
He made it so he would be the one to help him… he gave him his Decay quirk. He waited until he killed his own family to come after him and it wasn’t even heroes who abandoned him or left him alone. It was normal quirkless people who were freaked out and were under the impression a Hero would help him out. Society left him for dead because they were use to Hero’s being the one to save the day. So they didn’t feel the need to.
Shigaraki was the villain that world needed to make the society change and realize its mistake. Shigaraki has clearly surpassed AFO in everything, especially in charisma. He made people want to follow him and hope for a better future with him. He started to show more signs of development and growth as a character after Magne’s death. The League of Villains was a small group, but the individuals were on a completely different level that could give pro-heroes a run for their money. Together with time they formed a bond and despite being villains, they were more like a family. Stain was also right with his statement. Because once the situation was going for worse, they quit their jobs so easy, meanwhile the real heroes never gave up until the end. Thanks to Shigaraki, the society later improved a lot.

Once the king was deposed, they started to trun against each other, thus beginning the reign of terror. This culminated in the rise of Napoleon. Another was the Russian Revolution. After it ended, Stalin began to hunt down allies of the revolution, consolidating his power to become a dictator, and that trend continued till the end of the Cold War (and even after, to some extent).
In fiction, we had the Star Wars rebellion (both legends and disney). After the rebellion won, and the republic was reformed, they splintered, allowing the rise of opposing forces, such as Thrawn or the First Order (legends and Disney, respectively).

He's killed tens of thousands if not hundreds of thousands of people dude. He feels no remorse for it. He feels no empathy nor sympathy for the lives he ruins. We saw the aftermath. Countless kids crying having lost their parents. Parents having their worst nightmare come true of losing a child.

A tragic backstory does NOT justify the murder of tens of thousands of people. You walking the streets for an hour and not finding a hero to save you does NOT justify you orphaning countless children and i dislike how some act like it does. Since when was a person experiencing something bad in their life justification for bad acts? In real life, lets say someone had a really traumatic childhood. Lets say, this guy grew up to be a serial killer who's killed countless families and has killed your own loved ones as well with 0 remorse. Infact they were grinning ear to ear and saying they'd continue until nobody was left. But dont worry, he intends to change the world "for the better" by doing these acts. Would you then say "The killer was right, he had a poor wittle backstory and has big dreams, so its justified". Or would you expect this person to rot in prison and/or outright get the chair? If you expect that fate for this killer, then why is Shigaraki who's done far worse, different?

One of the worst aspects of MHA's villains but especially Shigaraki, is the sheer hypocrisy of it all. He says hero's cause suffering and pain to people. This is true, they are human after all. Its on a significantly smaller scale and they save far more than they hurt but it is still true, they can cause suffering here and there. According to Shigaraki they cannot be saved. To Shigaraki they must ALL be destroyed. For this small amount of suffering they cause, they must all be decayed. But on the same coin, Shigaraki has saved only a handful of people and has killed thousands. That is an overwhelming net negative. Yet the series and he himself act like he should be saved. Like he shouldn't be the one who should be destroyed. The writing here is completely backwards.

Another thing i heavily dislike about Shigaraki is that he took away what should've been the point of its villains in this series. I can feel for Toga. I can feel for twice. I can understand Spinner. I can see them making a real positive change in MHA if they lived longer. They could've truly shined some light on how the hero world can be improved. Yet it all got thrown under the bus by their absolute moron of a leader who decided to take the limelight away from mental health and how some Quirks can change your brain which was a very real topic in MHA to "Unga bunga, lets cause mass genocide and terrorism". You can sympathize with being born with something you did not ask for and being mistreated for it. You can sympathize with people discriminating against you for something you cant change, like how you look. Y'know what you can't sympathize with? Literal terrorism. Shigaraki completely takes away what the league of villains should've represented by taking the route he did.
The writing aspect of MHA's Villains is by far its weakest point and this is coming from someone who use to have MHA as their #1 favorite anime even when it was a highly unpopular take. It completely fails to make me sympathize with a majority of its villains and actively ruins the moment whenever one of them goes on one of their hypocritical speeches and the series tries to gaslight me into thinking they just said something smart. Mainly talking about Dabi and Shigaraki there. The villains were such a missed opportunity its actually insane. MHA could've truly had some of the best villains in animanga history but we instead got this garbo writing which took this series down from a 10/10 to like a 7/10 and its only going lower.

You ignore and gloss over one important thing.
Nothing tomura did was of his own choice and AFO made him the way he is. From the moment he was born to the moment he died.
The society can't always be blamed because at the end of the day heroes cant be everywhere at once. They aren't God's and very few can predict the future so its not like they had any way to save Tomura before AFO got involved.
Heroes and villains always will exist and they'll always be at odds but the defining factor here is what a hero decides to do when a villain has crossed the line and Tomura CROSSED THE LINE.
There was no saving what he had become because Tomura didn't want saving. He wanted to destroy everything because he felt society had failed him when in reality AFO planned all this shit from the beginning and gave her the outlook that society was entirely fucked up when in reality there are good people out there and had all might known about his family he would've been there but AFO set it up to where that wasnt possible.
So no shigaraki was not right.

What makes the MHA universe so hypothetical is that some quirk users believe the quirkless are a waste of space when reality it's villains such as Moonfish, Muscular, the villains at the USJ etc, are the ones who make life for people a living hell and yet no quirk worthless. If you ask me, Midoriya should've looked up to Eraserhead, Nighteye, Mirko, and more because some of the heroes have quirks that give attributes of a quirkless person.

I've been watching mha for the first time, and I've just finished s5.
Shigaraki was your typical bad guy gang leader in s1.
He destroyed both of Overhauls arms in s3 or 4, which gave me chills.
By the end of s5, he felt legitimately terafying.
He's definitely my favourite vilen in the series so far, Dabi is a close 2nd but only because of his visual design.
Deku and Todoroki are easily my favourite heroes.
"So far" Dude the series is just about done. All that's left is to finish the climax of the manga which ended up being two entire seasons because it's so long.

First, your intro blew me away! Your editing and music choice are perfect! Moving on, I do not think Shigaraki is a hero, but he does have a point. The hero society is not evil, but there are some major flaws. The public(coddled trash) would rather let them rot rather than address the uncomfortable truth. Not surprisingly, Shigaraki's path of destruction will not change anything. There is a strong chance the Hero Public Safety Commission will take more extreme measures to combat villains. The commission may carry out more assassinations on the people Shigaraki wants to help.

Arguably the best written modern shonen villians, while some might say its Sukuna but Shigaraki saw his dreams getting trampled by his own father while his Grandma was a Hero, nobody helped him even his mother told him to not talk about "Heroes" infront of his father thats just sad man. That gave him enough rights to be a villain.
I must say I am disappointed with how Shigaraki's story played out. I wanted him to be truly free of All For One so he could become his own villain. I feel like Shigaraki never got the chance to reach his full potential as a villain. As a villain, he was overflowing with such potential and promise. I kind of feel cheated that I won't get to see what he could have been. Imagine if his body reached full power and he was in complete control of it. In addition to this, imagine if he still had control of the Paranormal Liberation Front in its entirety and took full advantage of what it had to offer. That would have been a villain I would want to see. What a waste.

Tomura could have been a amazing character if the parasite known as All For One who pretty much dictated his whole life, and make no mistake nobody could have even saved the boy if they wanted too, because All For One would have killed anyone who got close to Tenko. All this just to hurt All Might to his core and to later become a vessel for himself, and the tragic tale of him is that while he brought up great points of how corrupt society is he was ignorantly broken at how destructive and unproductive the side of criminals and villainy. Tomura talks about how he will destroy the world, but how will he create a new world where destroy everything and everyone, where does it ends and will his friends even be saved or just be destroyed by his hand similar to how he destroyed his family when his quirk first showed up. Tomura is the breaking point of society but sadly he doesn’t know how to build a new one as all he truly knows is destruction and death, but it is his greatest lesson to Izuku to learn from him and how his life led to this destructive change in society and build a new on his own.

Nah bro, Shigaraki is not justified. He was manipulated. He wasn’t abandoned he was just “saved” by the wrong person. Civilians left him alone under the impression that a Pro hero would come for him. A Hero would have but All for One found him first… and made it so he would be the one to find him at his lowest. He gave him Decay and only came after his mind was Decayed as an easily influential child.

That's how Shigaraki could've done it as well. He had an immensely powerful and dangerous quirk. Given time he would've been taken in if nothing else like Hawks. If he had a stronger will like Shoji and Shoto, he also could've just held out longer like they did to change the hero society from within.

I sometime wonder if no one truly never tried to help him before All For One. By that I mean since All For One is such a manipulative guy would he had really left it up to chance that a passing hero could meet Tomura before the latter hit rock bottom?
I feel like he would have insured that no hero came close to where Tomura was. I mean the guy went through all that trouble finding the grandson of a previous One For All user and gave him an incomplete Quirk, at this point AFO would be too invested to leave it up to chance.

Shigaraki may be correct about his world's societal flaws and corruption leading to people like him being victimized by injustice, but that still doesn't excuse him from all the terrible crimes and murders he's committed, regardless of All For One's mental conditioning. Tenko Shimura is the real victim here, and his life was warped into a living nightmare because of All For One's influence, which is why his life was so bad for him due to what his father experienced. Again, Tomura Shigaraki has a very good point, but the way he went about changing things would have left even more miserable people like him in the end.

The fact that the only person who ever lifted a finger to help shigiraki and these villains was the literal demon lord sworn rival of one for all really tells you he had no choice but to become a villain they had nobody else to look to for help yet by some twisted miracle the one person hero society deemed a monster reaches out to help them it's a twisted sense of irony
He made it so he would be the one to help him… he gave him his Decay quirk. He waited until he killed his own family to come after him and it wasn’t even heroes who abandoned him or left him alone. It was normal quirkless people who were freaked out and were under the impression a Hero would help him out.
Society left him for dead because they were use to Hero’s being the one to save the day. So they didn’t feel the need to.
Shigaraki was the villain that world needed to make the society change and realize its mistake.
Shigaraki has clearly surpassed AFO in everything, especially in charisma. He made people want to follow him and hope for a better future with him.
He started to show more signs of development and growth as a character after Magne’s death.
The League of Villains was a small group, but the individuals were on a completely different level that could give pro-heroes a run for their money. Together with time they formed a bond and despite being villains, they were more like a family.
Stain was also right with his statement. Because once the situation was going for worse, they quit their jobs so easy, meanwhile the real heroes never gave up until the end.
Thanks to Shigaraki, the society later improved a lot.
