    Cat hasn't had the Challenger line since 2002 when AGCO bought the line. They did still put a few engines in the track tractors up until the D series when the AGCO Power (SISU) engines replaced them. So, many people still confuse Challenger with Cat, but in reality, they have been separate and no connection for many, many years.

    The Challenger pivot and the deesre pivot could not be more different. The deere is all in one housing and mostly enclosed. In my opinion the deere has a weaker pivot and is susceptible to breaking if the tractor gets 'troughed' between two minor hills.

    I think it's interesting to check these machines out, JD tech myself and it's nice to see the other brands out there from time to time. A little more info about the engines, Agco purchased SISU engines a few years back and debuted the E series lines with either their inline 7 or v12 engines for their large machines. I haven't found any clear documentation as to why Cat left the ag world, some say they couldn't invest in new FT4 designed engines, some say agco wanted to have their own engine line. I think it's a number of things. I think the only cat powertrain that is left is the transmission, but I'm not exactly sure if that's just the PS for the 7's and 8's. I'd be real interested in seeing how a 1046 compares to your 8400R!

      Thank you for taking time to write a comment - and I very much appreciate the information .... I would like to find out more of why cat left the ag market - must of been a reason of some sort - due to the agreement they reached with agco ..... We are looking at a Challenger 1050 - but figured, i could demo a 1046 (it should drive the same - same family) .. we just need more power than the 8400R ... I wish deere would take the 8400R and put a 9000 RT series engine / power train in it - and come out with a competitive machine to these .. but from what the dealer tells me - there is currently nothing in the plans to build anything like that

      I went back and checked a few things, I guess the MT700 tracks had an in-house iT4 engine in the D series so cat was last seen in the C series tractors. I went to Challenger's website and they still are providing information for the MT700C and 800C machines, I find that a little strange if they aren't selling them? Kind of like Deere still having an 8030 series on their website still, I don't know, that seems funny to me. Anyway, Deere would pretty much have to completely design a different tractor series to compete, I agree it would be cool to see something like that. I just wonder what the market is for 400+ hp row crops. Im in central IA and I can't think of too many row crop farmers that really need that kind of hp, manure (and trenchers/tilers haha) come to mind first. The new 13.6 Deere engine will be debuting in a year or two in generators systems, I think they are still working out a new power shift for the 9R series to go behind the new engine. Look forward to more videos about the 1000 series tractors, thanks for putting them out there!

      Wow ... Thank you for the updated information .. Yes, that is odd .. Somewhere along the line Cat got out and Agco took full control ... Its also interesting to me how the Cat dealer (ziegler here in Iowa) is still selling these .. so I guess there must still be some sort of "cross over" relationship between cat and agco .... you hit the nail on the head - manure and a trencher! - those are two things i could use the big mfwd for! ... but your right - overall, i'm not sure how good the market is for a tractor like that ... Thanks very much for commenting and good to talk to you! stay tuned for more ..

    I just switched from the MF baler to the John Deere 560M. Never ever will go back. 7 drive chains on the MF compared to 3 on the Deere. Too many moving parts on the MF, makes nice bales but way too much down time. When they say “Nothing runs like a Deere” I’m a believer now.

    I really think these are some of the sharpest machines out there, but when that grey paint starts to rust, it sticks out like a sore thumb. Mainly though, we would really need better dealer support around here before guys would seriously consider them.

      @Blackearthexcavationandtiling  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for commenting ... They are very nice looking! ... but that doesn't sound good - if the grey rusts through ... Yes, dealer support is a big issue - luckily, we have 3 pretty good agco dealers near me (all within about 35 miles) .... I would like to get behind the wheel of one for a while and see how it operates - really see how it works .. stay tuned

    john deere doesnt make anything to compete with the 900 series challenger. look at engine displacement, shipping weight, axle diameter, center pivot area... challenger is a scraper duty tractor brought to the ag market. deere is a light duty tractor with light duty engines that they slap a few supports on to make them scraper ready.

      dont get me started on john deere sucking hind tit to the 700 and 800 series tractors.
      then there is the combines. my old deere has 30 year old 5000 hour bearings on it. and the new ones in the area are replacing bearings each year. and it was a 12 row corn head machine. now we have to worry about 12 row corn heads on combines because they break the rims. really? the deere and case guys talk about simple reliable machines when comparing to a lexion. but the lexion is built to perform. and the challenger combine is a lot more simple then the case or deere.

      Aaron Jarvenpa .. we have an 8400R now - beautiful tractor - love it ... however, it's not big enough for what I want to do ... I live and breath JD green - but I do not like their four wheel drives- far as I'm concerned, their last good 4whwel drive was the 30 series (like 9630) .. stay tuned for another video tomorrow- lol address the JD four wheel drive

      The engines in the 700, 800, and 900 series are all AGCO Power (Sizu) made in Finland. They are the only Ag engine that is totally balanced like a racing engine. They are very smooth running and very fuel efficient. And they do not use a Diesel Partical Filter that has to regen casing lots of heat and maintainance problems. The 1000 series uses a Mann engine. It gets it max torque at low rpms. The max rpm on the rpm on the tractor is 1700. This gives it great fuel economy and long life.

    Good video but tractors are poorly designed. Im operating one of those pieces of shit right now and if im told to another day... im quitting my job and will go sit on an open cab D6B somewhere.
