      Hope the one to tie the rope to the boats hull lock screw so it sits out of the water was included. ;)

    Lay him on his belly, screen/mesh bottom, and get the rope out of the water.. make a little pole mount on the back of the boat. 🤙🏻 super cool idea I’m deff gonna try this!

    Lovin it. Brings back old memories. My dad called tubing legalized child abuse. And we keep coming back for more! Put a loop or band around the tube and tie the tow rope to that. First tube I ever got towed on was a semi truck tube with an old fall protection belt wrapped around it and rope tied to that. Get your victim laying face down on tube and head forward to help with balance.

    Now you have to do a skier somehow! I bet if you raised the attachment point on the boat, you could lower it on the tube!

    Tie the rope up on the go pro mount or fab up a bracket to get the rope higher on the boat. The rope is low so it wants to drag the front of that tube down with it!

    Flip the inner tube inside out so the stem is sticking out towards the boat and then tie the string around the stem and make the string a little bit longer and tape the bottom of the inner tube to make it flat so no water gets in the middle. Love the videos!!

    If you look at an actual tubing tube. The tow point is about of just below the centerline of the tube with a smooth bottom.
    LOVE THE IDEA! Good execution of this.

      The only thing is though with the bilge pump inside it flips back over automatically because of the weight on the bottom of the boat so with a tower it would make it harder to flip

    Love the idea. Just need to workout the kinks. First off the last run is promising. I would tape an old CD to stiffen the bottom of tube, leave a gap at back to let any water in the tube out. Next is the balance of rider needs to be hunched over the tube so it will get on plane. The fluid dynamics force is holding tube to the water from the tubing curve.
    The last is to lengthen rope back out of the pumps Jetstream spray, this is one place that 1:1 to small scale work in the same way.
    Looking forward to MORE Videos on this tubing setup.

  • @aljensen7779

    You asked for more suggestions? I have an important one. The rear of the inner tube is rounded, which pulls water upward as the tube is drawn forward. Have you noticed that all fast boats have a straight up transom, while slower sailboat hulls are rounded at the rear? Pulling the water upward has the same effect as pulling the rear of the tube downward, into the water, causing tremendous resistance.. So, how do you fix that? You need to flatten the rear underside of the tube so that the water skims away from underneath instead of trying to curl upward.
    I have been enamored with the Thrasher ever since version 1. It's such a well engineered boat. I even contacted Scott to try to buy one of their jet drives. If you ever get tired of the Thrasher, Aaron, you know where to send it, dude ;-) Thanks for sharing your day with us.

    I would love to see more of this! Maybe a tow bar like you see on wakeboarding boats to make the pull point higher up, modify the tube so it has a pull hook on the front of the tube. This could be an awesome series!

  • @littleboyblu235
    @littleboyblu235 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    That is an awesome idea! What you need to do is take the boat side of the rope and secure it to the top hatch locking knob (the silver thumb screw) this will get the rope out of the water, so no drag, the rope will then be even with the top of the tube, and in the gopro it will look even more realistic as the thumb screw looks like a standard tow point on a ski boat.

  • @Salissbury222
    @Salissbury222 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Yo Medic! Awesome. You will need to use some rubber cement and attache a loop to the outside of the tube. That'll sort it, just like a real O-Brien water tube! Great Fun.

    Try making a small tripod for the rear hatch on the boat to tie the tow rope to too get it out of the water / prop (jet) wash, then make a two point bridal for the tube to attach the rope at the center point of the tube have your guys hands zip tied to handles and have him sit in the bottom of the tube to lower his c.o.g. My two cents. Hope it’s helpful.

  • @Mercury1600
    @Mercury1600 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I love this idea Medic! Im no big shot engineer but i know boating and pulling from higher up like your go pro mount would probably solve most your problems. Better yet make a scale ski pole / wake board tower for this thing!!

  • @painkillersclan
    @painkillersclan 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Mr Medic Sir! i am not a scale RC boating guru BUT i have done a TON of river running in inner tubes around my neck of the woods, the pacific north west washington state... its part of our annual spring summer activities...
    so i watched the whole thing because i always do... and you asked for ideas to make this set up ore stable... i would totally use those two zip ties to run the "tow rope" under ... run the rope under the ties, on the OUTSIDE or boatside of the tube. make a loop tie the line to itself in a triangle shape so your pulling from the front edges and not the back half where the guy is holding the line. thats causing you to nose dive the way its set now, and it wont be pulling from the top as you can push the loop higher or lower on the tube to adjust the fronts angle of contact with the wake of the boat and a bit longer line. i wish i could add a picture in this chat, but if you look up purpose made riding tubes youll see the pull point in the front of the tube... using your zip ties as two points going to one "the tow line" in a triangle is how they set up water ski ropes. you can then add a short linewrapped around the tube for the rider to hold the handle but its now cosmetic instead of the pull point. loving all the vids you post, and youtube gold is better and bigger every episode looking forward to loading wa... er kings!

  • @willried4916
    @willried4916 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    That was Kool. You could move the weight of the rider lower in the tube and to the back. Add a scupper to the bottom, a flap cut in the bottom of the tape. If you use an old windbreaker to build a shell around the tube

    That’s actually kinda cool. One recommendation: It might work better if you wrap the string around the tube and have it go to the boat from the lower point of the tube if that makes sense. That is just how our full scale speed boat tube is designed that actually holds humans, and yes it almost always has the front end very high so it is normal. Still a very cool concept 👍

  • @SebastianLong
    @SebastianLong 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    To make it more stable, being it's top heavy. Get a piece of thin wood, metal, even a screwdriver and put it under the tube. At the end of whatever you put under it, put an extra weight. Kinda like the long stabilizer on a sailboat under the hull. The weight would be at the end of that stabilizer. The longer the rod/stick/pole you use, the more stable it will be.

    That's a very cool idea. I would try still knotting the string to the valve, but going under the tube rather than from the top. Hopefully this helps at speed and it doesn't want to dip and dive down any longer. Otherwise you can tape the string to the middle of the tube, it should not try to either lift or dive the front. Anyway, good luck, that's so cool.

  • @CamaroRick
    @CamaroRick 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Lol awesome work! The dude has to ride the tube with legs trailing mainly for weight / in the water and hands holding the front of the inner tube handles. The rope would get attached to the front of the tube itself. at least thats how we used to do it. It would also be cool to put a rudder on the tube so you can steer him in and out of the wake. Could step it up and make a wakeboarder with a steerable rudder but that might require a lot of r+d lol Or use the surfer guy rc

  • @chriswhitson7290
    @chriswhitson7290 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    With a jet drive, you have a good amount of thrust coming back which ends up actually pushing straight back as well as to the sides. If you can capture whatever you're towing (or even if you have another boat following) and the wake, it ends up sticking pretty well. Makes it easier on the following craft as well. So in this case you can see that when towing with a jet, its pretty much impossible to towing directly in the center. I was a craft operator on a couple 11 meter rhibs. Same concepts regardless of size🤙

    You need to make a high bar for the back of the boat to keep your tube more stable

  • @jrmbtr
    @jrmbtr 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    If you can get the tow rope out of the water, it should help. Affixing to the capture nut on the removable top of the boat might be a good anchor point. Or, if you have any in your backstock, a scale bed mount tire carrier from a crawler might elevate the anchor point - if you could attach to the boat without doing any damage. The pitch of the boat while pulling the tub might allow the GoPro mount to be an adequate anchor point as well. Anchoring toward/closer to the bow will give odd geometry while turning. In any case, I think a slightly longer tow rope would also be beneficial.

  • @cunhafixit
    @cunhafixit 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Id tape the rope to the tube so it spreads the load about 1/3 way up, and tie it higher on the boat, that battery door screw looks like a good spot.

    There are a lot of good tips down here in the comments to solve your problems with the tube. As someone who has a 1:1 boat and pulls real funtubes on a regular basis I would recommend to pull the tube from the front center. Not with the rope over or under the tube. So maybe put a ziptie over the tube or loop a rope around it. Then attach a ring to the rope or ziptie or connect the pulling rope directly to it. On the boat, connect your rope as centered and as high as you can. Also place the action figure with his butt in the tube hole just like a real tuber. The weight distribution is much better this way. The action figure doesn't need to hold the rope because it's already attached to the tube. In real life you only hold a rope like this when you a wakeboarding, waterskiing or kneeboarding. Good luck! I think round 2 with these changes will go much better.

  • @garyea3843
    @garyea3843 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Just by watching your video, I was thinking of building a tripod mount on the rear of the hull for the tow rope. Maybe that will help eliminate some of the drag and keep the rope above water. Hope this idea helps. Can't wait to see more awesome videos. 👍

    1. Place the rope further up in the boat. Use your GoPro mount like a wakeboard tower. That will help bring the tube up some and less down drag on the rope.
    2. Let the rope out farther back from the boat and it will be in less prop washy water.
    3. Tie directly to the tube and keep the knot at the waterline.
    4. Vent your tape on the bottom so when the tube fills with water, the water can scupper out the back as you accelerate.
    I think that will alleviate all your issues.

    You should tie the rope to the gopro mount so that it is like one of those wake boats. That way it is pulling straight forwards instead of down wards. If you do that, then put the rope through the hole in the bottom of the tape cover. That way it is pulling upwards on the front of the tube. That would lessen the chance of it nose diving into the water at a higher speed
