you all probably dont give a shit but does anyone know a method to log back into an instagram account?? I was dumb lost my password. I would appreciate any tips you can offer me
@Titan Dallas I really appreciate your reply. I found the site on google and im trying it out now. Seems to take a while so I will get back to you later with my results.
One of my favorite NPCs is a Yuan-Ti with a snake tail. She operates a tea house in the main city and that's it. No evil plots, just the creepyish woman who runs the tea house.
In my setting, the Naga (original ones from Indian myth, basically the Yuan-ti) were created by the dragons as a servant race, along with Gargoyles, Troglodytes, and Kappa. They run the temples that worship the elder dragons as gods. They're not evil, and in fact are trying to make peace with the humans, but the humans are terrified by their appearance, and refuse to let them approach.
Joshua Richardson since the alignment system is written from point of view of the "good" human civilisations, following a code or mythology the humans don't agree with makes them by definition evil.
This is cool stuff, but I really wish you used some visual references for us. Like, what exactly do you mean by sex pit? Would this be a 5x5 square pit or larger? What should the man/snake sex ratio be? Visual aid is required. You should draw a picture for us on a white board or something.
"Man to Snake sex ratio" ? Obviously, it should be Woman to Snake, instead. What kind of weird sex orgy cult you trying to peddle ? We don't cotton to your kind around here.
I can recommend you to like three record labels that will sign you with that name right now. You'll be playing shows with Backwoods Payback and Weed Demon in no time.
Archduke Franz Ferdinand seriously, if you need a monster or NPC to be a mastermind or something, just give them the tools they need. Don't feel bound to the monster manual.
There is no such this as a free orgy and never say yes to creepy strangers that invite you to play with and/or see their snake. Both good advice to keep in mind around human-snake hybrids and life in general. Seriously, you don't want be be the one who has to clean up after the orgy. Pay to have that taken care of! It's worth it.
I like that Yuan-Ti are a good level 4-8 enemy that feels threatening to the wider world while also being easy to justify attacking. And you can easily put them in most campaign settings, unlike Drow and Githyanki, which occupy the same kind of level area and general threat area.
I'd love to know what you challenge your players with at that level. It seems like once you get past tenth level you either just pile-up on 8th-ish level monsters or have them face a dragon every week. Or elementals like Djinn and Efreet.
William Aitken yeah They fought a ancient red dragon last level and won. (Just goes to show how broken the CR system is) now I'm facing them off against high level undead, like lich's and vampires with swarms of lower power ones. The next adventure is going to be focused around Slaad. The best way I have found to actually challenge players, (because a 1 vs party will always end up with a player victory) is to use a bunch of mid- low level monsters and a high level monster (preferably with casting to spice it up).
Holy fuck. In just three days I'll be a supervisor in a two week summer camp where I host a D&D workshop and the adventure I prepared is focused on Yuan-Ti. This comes at the perfect time
Ah yes snake arm malisons. I ran a session where the party entered a fallen yuan-ti city. One malison with snake arms tried to run away but he couldn't work the door handle. Poor guy watched his friends die then tried to run away only to be stymied by a doorknob. (that's also the session where the bard seduced a lamia guard)
Dear Mr. webdm sirs, have you ever thought about putting the audio from your shows on podcasts? I think it'd be great to listen to you two talk as I drive during the day!
Watching this just reminded me of the "Ka Po' Tun" and "Tsaesci" of the elder scrolls series. The first are dragon worshiping Tiger people who have the ultimate goal/wish of becoming dragons while the Tsaesci are a group of snake people and the sworn enemies of the Ka Po' Tun.
Now that I think about it, this video also reminds me of the "Path of the Dragon" covenant from 'Dark Souls', dragon worshipers that end up becoming lizard people... Kinda
Seeming in a lot of Asian cultures snakes are symbols of wisdom and healing I really wont to do a campaign where the players need to go get the help of "The Wise man of the Mountain" to cure something(?) but when they get there all they find is a Snake-Man ... then watch what happens.
Oh God, FATAL, Can we get an episode on that? I'd love to hear Jim's thoughts on that clusterfuck of a system. I mean I can't imagine that you'd be able to monetize the video, but it'd certainly be interesting.
What's really sad is that the rules, while cumbersome, are playable. A lot of "worst game of all time" lists have games that cannot be played, but FATAL is the only game that can be played, but the content of the setting is so bad you'd be crazy to try.
As someone who has owned the Book of Erotic Fantasy, not ashamed. It is sometimes hilarious, sometimes insightful. Makes sense that there would be sex spells. Makes a ton of sense, actually.
I bought it just to be able to say I have it, but basic things like a contraceptive cantrip were already in my homebrew setting long before I even knew the book existed. Sure the average adventurer (bards notwithstanding) probably don't need to know any sex-oriented magic, but that doesn't mean it doesn't exist.
If magic can create a castle with just a snap of fingers, protect from dragon fire and fiends, heal curses, fatal wounds, why wouldn't they prevent pregnancy, fix erectile disfunction, STD's (with paladins laying their hands on everything would ensure that) i mean there is the spell cure poison and disease. Spells to spice up bedroom fun, let's be real even non-sexual spells can be used sexually. Just think about how many potions and scrolls of polymorph or shapeshift are sold by people who have... aquired taste. The limit is only your own imagination. Sex while levitating? Animate object on adult toys? And with the dream spell you are literally only limited by your imagination.
Oh my God guys this might be some of the best work you've ever done. This whole video was a side splitting jaunt through pulp high fantasy and 80's nostalgia, I laughed hard enough to snort at several points while you were bouncing back and forth through sex cult meta jokes.
It's a weird coincidence that my favorite super-villain team from Marvel Comics was Mr. Hyde and Cobra (now known as King Cobra). I never connected their names with the organizations. Well, knowing is half the battle.
Oh wow, never thought I'd hear the name Elagabalus after finishing Architecture school. Dude was seriously whack (He was a Roman emperor I shouldn't be surprised). I will forever curse him for changing his temples name like 5 times. Oh also fantastic video as always. The production value is great (Cheers Travis!) and the chemistry between Jim and Pruitt makes this for great listening.
I love you guys. This video came out just in time for my campaign, and I have been stuck. The party is in a large town, that is slowly being corrupted by a powerful hag and is also being infiltrated by yuan-ti both of whom are at odds with each other. This video gave me the direction I needed since i was feeling stuck
Such a great video guys. I'm in the middle of a campaign where I use Yuan-ti as the main villain and there are a ton of plots threads interwoven around each other. You gave me a ton more great ideas and helped me correct a few plot whole gaps. Love the idea that there are in combat and campaign abilities.
I think you should do an episode on Thieve's Guilds. Right now one of my players is trying to strike a deal with one and I'm not quite sure how to handle it. You could maybe cover like their goals and how they achieve them. Letting PCs join and how to handle that. Also how to make a fun guild leader. I think it would be a good video.
I mean, as someone who lives in Appalachia... I can confirm that we have snake churches, which handle snakes to prove their devotion to the Christian god, which feels slightly counter intuitive, but I’m not going to talk religion.
Great video lads! Just watching you guys makes the creative part of my brain go into overdrive. Would love to see you guys do a episode on villains and antagonists.
Jacob Kozelichki unfortunately my experience with Appalachia is limited to visiting Chattanooga when I was 5 and watching that Billy Ray Cyrus "Hillbilly" special.
Hey guys! Huge Web DM fan here ;) Great episode... its cults and ideas on regaining the glory of the old makes me think of the Dragonborn! Would you please do an episode covering possible Dragonborn plots & / or a Campaign made for a Dragonborn team? Thanks in advance and congrats on the channel!
My players just entered the Marsh of Chelimber in the middle of a war involving lizardfolk, yuan-ti, and two dragons, so your timing with this video is perfect!
I used a Mind Whisperer once as a recurring villain. Introduced him while the party was low enough level to be able to almost beat him, but he still wrecked the party and then left them for dead. He would then show up "randomly" throughout the player's quest for these artifacts and just annoy the hell out of them, like strand them on an island of Kuo-Toa, a group I played like the Ewoks from Return of the Jedi, and the Kuo-Toa almost sacrificed the entire party as a gift to Bilpdoolpoop. My players don't trust me now...
A sneaky way to surprise players with a Yuan-Ti appearance could be to put them in a coastal or even underwater area, with hold breath and a swim speed. There are snakes in the ocean after all. Or completely reverse expectations with a Yuan-Ti clan that worships couatls or gold dragons.
I'm running a campaign in land based on Mesoamerican and south american pre-columbian civilizations. I love the yuan-ti cause they are made for my campaign. They're awesome
I played as a good aligned Yuan Ti Ranger/Fighter from a villiage on Chult that wasn't part of the cult but was overrun by Ras Nsi's cultists. I love him
So, my players are about to go deal with some shady organization in a city a few days from where they began the campaign. I left it purposefully vague for two reasons (a) The players love mystery, (b) I was hoping you would talk about a cool mid-level monster before next Monday so I had something I could connect to the current story arc the characters are on (dragon cult). And of course, you do the snake-people episode and talk about cults. You gents are without a doubt the best.
15:25 Maximals versus Predacons, perhaps? Yes? Regardless, awesome episode guys! Yuan-Ti always came off to me as a potentially huge threat if given the right tools. What would happen if an adult green dragon takes a Yuan-Ti society under its wing? What happens if the sovereign leader of a kingdom gets enticed into joining the Yuan-Ti? What could happen if a secret Yuan-Ti cult is discovered operating in a land whose people worship a god who is against chaos? I crafted a campaign based on the first example I gave and I'm ecstatic to see where my players go with it. P.S. Always watch out for that slithery, buttery man back sweat.
Great video as always! I have been debating when and where to place these against my players, may be another campaign. I'd love to see a video on Duergar!
A friend of mine runs a campaign that I play a Yuan Ti in. It's set in a universe where there were no monsters until recently when they appeared en masse and destroyed most of the player race civilizations. The player characters were tasked with collecting the remnants of player race society and forming a new country and they managed to get a city state together that had a massive illusion barrier that protected it. Working for the God of Chaos, I infiltrated their base and made myself completely essential to the management of the city, while in the background letting in other Yuan Ti into the city. The humans eventually began to develop guns, which drastically altered their interaction against the monsters giving them a huge advantage, so after stealing the plans for the guns I ended up having my Yuan Ti soldiers cause havoc, lock one of the player characters in a cave and dip from the city creating huge weaknesses in the barrier. From there we gave the guns to the God of Chaos, who taught the orcs how to use and make them, creating an equal footing in power but we still massively outnumbered them. The only thing that stopped the monsters was a really lucky battle between the God of Chaos who was challenged to a 1 on 1 duel by the leader of the city. He got a ton of crits during their fight and ended up beating him, banishing him from our realm. But now I have some of his power, and the Dream warlock spell, which I use to infiltrate the dreams of other citizens in the city and lay down suggestions for them to alter the course of their actions behind the scenes.
Running a homebrew/Ghosts of Saltmarsh campaign…. And one of my main villains is a pirate crew of Yuan-Ti with a one-armed Yuan-ti Pit Master as Captain. An arm replaced by snakes instead of a hook…. Is pirate fantasy as hell!
I just subbed yesterday, and have to say I love your content. (I can niether confirm or deny about binging on your videos). Anyway, I would love to see your opinions on uncommon/weird races for the classes. I sometimes run a Barbarian Gnome named Boris. One of the best charaters I've made.
As far as in the realms fun fact is that some couatl's were originally some of the serpent creator race that originally created the yuan-ti and nagas (as well as other scaly races)
Not sure if you guys have read David Eddings but the second book of the Belgariad (if I'm remembering correctly), the Queen of Sorcery, really brings together an interesting snake-cult city, for me at least.
I think the scenario you described with the bridges over the pit, would be a place a monk could really shine: Fast movement, Step of the Wind The knock back effect from the Open Hand Technique Alternatively the Shadow Step ability of the Way of Shadow, as the place is likely poorly lit as Yuan-Ti would likely want those without dark vision at a disadvantage.
The upcoming Tomb of Annihilation campaign will feature Yuan-Ti at some point, although the undead will be the main enemies. For those looking for more jungle-snake goodness, the DMGuild has a user-uploaded four part adventure called Serpent Isle.
Has anyone else seen doraleous and associates? The wizard in that show has a spell that turns people's arms into venomous snakes that attack who ever they're connected to
we have a very slippery Goblin named Yeemik in my current campaign. I used my basic and off hand attack, dropped one to prevent him from taking a hit on the Barbarian that was down, and the other on Yeemik. That little cur gimped off with only 1 HP left. Still hunting for that one.
My mate in game had a pet mouse and was effected by the Yuan-Ti Suggestion spell so i managed to roll a nat 20 to see everything and knocked out my friend to save a mouse for being eaten i feel so happy about that just thought i would share this as it was my memory!
Here's the thing, purists do like Cobra-La, they like the concept of it... they just don't like the execution of the film itself... Falcon isn't a good protagonist to follow around and the retcon of Cobra Commander being one of them kind of requires you to ignore all those times he wore a hood with eyeholes. But Cobra-La itself, the fans do like. They were pleased when Nemesis Enforcer got a new figure in 2008, they were hyped up when Pythona finally got a figure, and they keep asking for a new Golobulus. I did love how they were used in the GI Joe Vs. The Transformers: Black Horizon... Which involved them teaming up with a skeletal samurai Decepticon and a life-draining monster Decepticon combiner. I strongly recommend people read it. Also, I always loved snake men and I would love to design up some 5E stat blocks for snake men based on the features of snake men seen in Conan and Masters of the Universe and yes, even GI Joe.
My ancestry is from Appalachia and I have lived there for two years. It's not as backward as it used to be for the most part. I totally want to take the book Congo and Yuan ti and make a adventure out of them.
But what about the earlier lore from previous editions where they were created by the progenitor snake race? I thought they made really cool storypoints and good questlines for a campaign settled around Chult.
I recently made a Yuan-ti Pureblood Hexblade Warlock. The Yuan-ti are dope. One of my favorite races after Drow. And I have a legit snake phobia! Go figure
THANK YOU! Finally someone saying it out loud: The D&D world IS WAY TOO "clean"; almost PG-13 or something... I warn my players; my games (as a DM) are dark and violent. The villain will torture, rape, maim; do whatever it takes to get his plan moving. No place for cry babies. Not to mention the monsters who do not share the human moral standards...
I think another direction to take Yuan-Ti is to look at classic Greco-Roman stories, stuff like The Iliad and The Odyssey. Half animals were very common there, oftentimes as minor gods or demigods. They often make demands of nearby cityfolk, such as demanding women for wives or they would enter into skill competitions in a human disguise in order to easily win the prize. A chivalry themed campaign based on the Mediterranean could very easily incorporate Yuan-Ti
Hey guys! Big fan here! Could you do a video about rules for mounted combat and training animals for combat such as mastiffs? From reading the 5e rules it seems that your mount can't attack while you are controlling it and you need to let it act independently. But how would a war horse trample work then? And for animal training, in older editions I used to have a fighter that trained mastiffs to help him in combat. I would like to know what are your house rules to replicate that in 5e. Do you need to be proficient in handle animal or not? Does it take an action or bonus action to give your animal a command? Any help will be greatly appreciated!!!
In my campaign, I use the yuan-ti kind of in their standard form as humans who turned to high magic, but they corrupted dragon eggs (kind of dragon lancey...) to create three humanoid slave races: lizardfolk as a priestly servant class, dragonkin as warrior class and kobolds as craft class. They eventually overthrew their yuan-ti masters and have inherited their culture, but made it their own, essentially in the service of good. However, their former masters are working in secret to rebuild their empire, so my lizardfolk avenger is one of those agents seeking their former masters out and trying to learn about their plans and subvert them. This has been helpful in fleshing out how the yuan-ti are operating in the present day.
I know it sounds weird, but is there a chance we could do an episode on Maztica? The gods are aztec/mayan, and it's a giant jungle... I don't think I've heard of a campaign that takes place in the jungle.

Could you do a monster show on succubus & the demon lords :)
Hey don't throw my lizardfolk in with those snake people! they just want to be left alone in their swamps.
Both dirty emotionless reptiles.
Awesome! My fave humanoid monstrous race, great companion video to the AJ Pickett's Yuan Ti vid.
Freshening up on snake-folk for a game and forgot Pruitt's magnificent beard here!
Buttery man backs is exactly why I don't go to rock concerts. Lol ~shivers at the thought~
This video has the best thumbnail.
One of the best charaters I've made.
as an Appalachian I am obligated to root for team snake cult.
0:48 "If it wasn't for that one that caused us all to sin we'd be fine!"
Hey, leave Miia out of this!
As far as in the realms fun fact is that some couatl's were originally some of the serpent creator race that originally created the yuan-ti and nagas (as well as other scaly races)
Great stuff!
I love the Conan references. You should do a playlist of Adult Theme campaign ideas.
What about a Yuan-Ti monk with poisonous snakes as arms that bite when it punches?
"like buttering one piece of toast with another piece of toast"
The trick to buttering a piece of toast with another piece of toast is pressure. You gotta get up in there.
Not sure if you guys have read David Eddings but the second book of the Belgariad (if I'm remembering correctly), the Queen of Sorcery, really brings together an interesting snake-cult city, for me at least.
Oh that intro was brilliant.
The gaseous exhale... If only I could be so grossly effervescent.
I think the scenario you described with the bridges over the pit, would be a place a monk could really shine: Fast movement,
Step of the Wind
The knock back effect from the Open Hand Technique
Alternatively the Shadow Step ability of the Way of Shadow, as the place is likely poorly lit as Yuan-Ti would likely want those without dark vision at a disadvantage.
The upcoming Tomb of Annihilation campaign will feature Yuan-Ti at some point, although the undead will be the main enemies.
For those looking for more jungle-snake goodness, the DMGuild has a user-uploaded four part adventure called Serpent Isle.
One of these days Pruitt is going to spike his pen on his notes so hard that it flies off-camera and hits Trav in the eye
i know this may sound weird but what deity and what kind of civilization would be cool for a neutral or good version of the Yuan-ti?
please advice..what would be a good race for Yuan-ti to use as slave army for general conquest of territories and stuff ? thank you !
What do you think of an add in to the tomb dungeon in tales of the yawning portal?
Thanks for a great review. I was wondering about the Yuan-ti. I might replace the Duergar in the water cult of Princes of the Apocalypse with them.
Jim dropping Ren and Stimpy made my day.
I'd actually love to see an episode on the satanic panic on d&d, it'd be interesting to hear your thoughts
Marcus Dagenais everything to be said about it has already been said in a thousand threads and youtube videos
Erez Amir that's a fair point, but it's always interesting to hear a fresh opinion from people that you enjoy watching
@@Witchgirl44 They'd just say it was stupid in a way that doesn't offend too many religious people. Nothing more to be said.
Great thumbnail guys. Nice abs Jim
These thumbnails are great
The funny thing is, I could actually see the Roman emperor Elagabalus as the head of some sort of snake-cult.
Has anyone else seen doraleous and associates? The wizard in that show has a spell that turns people's arms into venomous snakes that attack who ever they're connected to
Ahhh yesss, a video on ssssnake men!
The first line from Jim " snake people" in suh a mono tone way of speaking... 😂😂😂 it killed me😂😂😂
"The Broadcast Energy Transmitter! OF COURSE!!"
we have a very slippery Goblin named Yeemik in my current campaign.
I used the "battle over the breeding pits, and corruption of the youth" ideas for my Yuan ti quest. My party thought it was brilliantly depraved.
Pruitt's beard is on point in this video
Can you do chapter about Graz'zt?
But what about the earlier lore from previous editions where they were created by the progenitor snake race? I thought they made really cool storypoints and good questlines for a campaign settled around Chult.
That outro. Oh boy.
I recently made a Yuan-ti Pureblood Hexblade Warlock. The Yuan-ti are dope. One of my favorite races after Drow. And I have a legit snake phobia! Go figure
Best intro possible.
Also, sorry for comment necro...
I know it sounds weird, but is there a chance we could do an episode on Maztica? The gods are aztec/mayan, and it's a giant jungle... I don't think I've heard of a campaign that takes place in the jungle.
To paraphrase Hall and Oates.
(Oh, here she comes.)
🎼🎤 Watch out boy, she'll chew you up.
(Oh, here she comes.)
🎼🎤She's a snake eater.
psychomantis?
I love Yuan Ti!
