I had 3 episodes of oromandibular dystonia within the last year. The most recent one was a month ago and it was so bad that I could not breathe my mouth was put into such a position that my airway was blocked and I almost suffocated. I don't know why I thought of this but I went to the restroom and took a handful of water from the sink and put it to my lips which momentarily broke up the impulse and I was able to drink the water and breathe momentarily subsequently I end up doing this for almost an hour taking handfuls of water to my mouth over and over again to be able to breathe until it subsided
