Thanks for the information it's very useful do you know these things. The big question is when do these regulations come into effect? Most of these types of things made a comment. And I don't think they've been legally proposed yet.
@@donwyoming1936 yeah you do need to pay attention to the seller names. If the seller name looks off and all pictures look like genetic stock photos I don't buy from them. Only iffy thing i ever got was 10$ camera drone I got with one of temus promotion coupons. It's battery life is like 10min 🤣 other then that Iv had no issues
We destroyed American manufacturing when we gave China unfair trade advantages. And it doesn't help that China appears to have actual labor camps, where goods are literally manufactured without paying for labor at all.
I discovered Temu less than two years ago and have done my fair share of shopping. It's pretty addictive, I have to admit. But by and large most of what I have bought is of decent quality and Temu's returns policy is more than fair. Frankly, I'll be sorry to see them go.
I have found the exact same products from walmart, that are on Temu. The items on Temu are much cheaper than Walmart, it just goes to show who is screwing who, because Walmart is buying from the exact same sellers.
Temu is having goods subsidized by PRC to implode U.S. businesses. The goal is to shutdown global competition and leave only China left, then the low price ride is over and China will have the ability to cripple other nations. (Taken right from Walmart's playbook!) This takes a lot of money, so they also steal from their independent sellers to help recoup that spending.
Did you hear him saying that the sellers for TEMU are losing money? This whole thing will create higher prices on every platform including Walmart, ebay, Amazon and others.
I love this site and have bought over 20 products. No complaints. Thanks for protecting me, US Government! Where would I be without you! Much further in life.
You're clearly ok with supplier exploitation so long as you buy products for dirt cheap prices. Why not run your own sweat shop and skip the middle man?
It doesn't matter. You don't have to pay for the freight, and an individual consumer won't buy the minimum order quantity to get the product at a lower price. So, stop complaining. Buying just one or a few of those items would actually cost a lot more.
Amazon should be subject to the same rules! Too many 'foreign sellers' are selling the same offending products on Amazon and Amazon shrugs their shoulders and don't take responsibility despite earning 35% platform fees!
I love shopping mt personal items and business items at Temu and Aliexpress because its way cheaper and don't get ripped off by Amazon, Walmart and Target.
And they don't want that to happen which is why they are bribing the government to make sure that only they can afford to import. Same time I bet they will get a grant or a subsidy where the taxpayer puts the bill for all of those tariffs that they would pay yet they will raise their prices even more on us
ngl i look at shops on amazon and ebay and if its in china i just go to temu and get it way cheaper.. heck temu has amazon or i mean "local" shops now, you can buy something cheaper from temu and have it shipped from an amazon warehouse and delivered by amazon.even find the same store fronts on both
I think Temu is going out of control. The US noticed it and hence doing something about it. Amazon and eBay are very relaxed and took decades in the growth and building, Temu became an Amazon in 1 year.
Because they pay taxes. Temu does all that and doesn't pay taxes. They're literally single-handedly stranggling the American and other European economies. The quality is also better on Amazon and no major health and security hazrds like Temu.
No kidding, because to be honest we have had maybe three problems my fault for hitting the wrong size. Everything we have gotten we have seen the same item from Walmart at twice to three times the cost. Higher on Amazon and we don't get the products this gentleman was talking about. It was a fun ride while it last.
Many will say make America great again. Get rid of Temu, Shein, Aliexpress and etc. Next thing you know, thousands of new websites in US will just be reselling and drop shipping the same products.
They'll still need to go through the same customs channels, whether they are temu or a drop shipper. If you try and bend the rules you have committed customs fraud.
@@user-ml8dm9fz6l yes while this may be true that many things are made in China, individual purchases is what is primarily being affected here, while wholesalers will be under similar rules more than likely

So far everything I have bought was legit, but the packaging was damaged to the point where it wouldn't be sold on a retail shelf. I'm more worried about Amazon gouging now that they murdered their retail competition.
I’ve been shopping on Temu from the very beginning. I’ve only had one issue that was quickly resolved and refunded. I didn’t even have to return the item. I purchase mostly clothing and I’ve never been disappointed.😊❤
exactly. they are pissed that people are buying the same things that they sell for less than half. i will still shop with Temu. Bezos sold his soul a long time ago and i won't don't with Amazon anymore.
The some workshops make everything for Walmart , Nike , Amazon and others. The only difference is Temu cuts out the middle man like Walmart. I love Temu !
Most of the stuff I got from Temu left stains on my hands or broke within a few days, if it worked at all. When it first came around it was pretty good, but lately it’s not worth the dirt cheap prices even. Amazon has been flooded with counterfeit crap from Temu so it’s kind of getting the same way lately :/
I’ve gotten some really great stuff from temu from organizing bins to a very sturdy high-quality desk to an outdoor two seat bar height & table--excellent prices.
@@joeycarter2678seriously, people who get space heaters and computer parts for cheap really get what they pay for, but stuff like dog toothbrushes and squeeze bottles is my jam.
Me too. I just bought a cute six foot fake birch tree with lights for $49. Same tree on Amazon was $149!!! I’m very happy with Temu. Just breaks my heart how the Chinese factory workers get paid peanuts 🥜 for working insane overtime hours!
I know - organizer stuff has been amazing. In Asisa they tend to live in tight living spaces so organizng is an art. I'm done buying though - I've spent too much $.
I'm really divided on this issue. Prices are often far higher than buying direct from china. Why buy a shirt for $20-30 when you can get it for $5 on Temu. We can't even buy a car from China thanks to all the tarriffs. And I really have not had serious issues with quality. I don't want to support China but I feel we are getting fleeced from our domestic industry.
Because this is about national security again, we can't let China products slip in overtaken American made products. 😂 We had to pay more to make America Great Again!😅
Exactly! All of these people who keep acting like buying things from China have clearly never looked at where most of the things they’ve bought were made.

And if I choose to buy “bad quality” that is my decision. I’m just cutting the middle man.
It's supposed to level the playing field for domestic businesses, right? I get why they did it, Temu has been taking advantage of loopholes to ship items from China with little to no tariffs. That was a pretty unfair advantage
You’re not wrong. This move is definitely going to raise prices on Temu, and it could hurt consumers who are used to finding those bargains. But if it brings fairness to the market, it’s worth it, right?
but if you’re someone who loves getting those $5 gadgets or clothes from Temu, this is going to sting. I feel like a lot of people are going to be upset. Not to mention, the shipping times could get worse, too. What do you think will happen to Temu long term?
So that American suppliers like Amazon can buy those same Chinese products, jack the price up 500% and make them mega millions while we're getting the same made in China products.
Temu has the most affordable prices. Their quality are so much better. They have a variety of things that you need. This won't last long. Business will be losing customers.
Might explain why products on Temu have gotten worse (they used to add shirts with good designs on them; now they are just adding black shirts with an ironed-on flower or whatever on the front). Also, I have noticed that they are now charging for shipping (bought something for my sister earlier this month, as her birthday is coming up, and I had to pay over $2 for one order and another $3 for another order to have them shipped. Both orders just had shirts and leggings in them). As for Shein, I've noticed they aren't adding as much stuff as they used to on the site (I shop plus sized clothes, btw). I will not give my Social Security Number to anyone in order to buy anything from them. I'll stop buying before that ever happens.
When you're charged shipping it's because you're buying from a so-called "Local Warehouse in the US, read the small print under the pic of the item. Temu ships free. The so-called "local Warehouse" charges for shipping.
must of been a local warehous, those ones seem to all include shipping, but lets be real 2-3$ shipping is wonderful compared to 5 sometimes 15$+shipping they charge you at amazon or ebay, i've seen shiping prices double the items price before.. tho i suppose that might go up for bigger items
Here's an example of why I use Temu. My fridge filters are 60$ at Lowes. I pay 9$ for the same product from Temu. Car engine filters 65$ at the dealer. Cabin and engine filter combo pack 11$.

I noticed Amazon prices increased considerably over a year ago. This is truly an opportunity for American companies to cut pricing to match even if they're simply an American importer.
They went up as a result of the prices of the products going up AND the cost to sell on Amazon going up ... plus if the product is a popular product for scams, you can add an extra increase to compensate for that too. Lots of small sellers don't rake in much of a margin after you deduce all costs, expenses and taxes
they should of lowered their prices when they had competition, with no competition they will have no reason to lower to compete, and possibly even come to agreements to price fix across selling platforms so no one will have the cheaper option anymore.. after all lack of competition means no reason o innovate or be differnt, why monopolies get broken up when the courts get off their lazy bribed bums. cause no competition in a area means consumers get gouged and no other options when corners get cut and quaility lowers..
i have not seen prices go up on anything i buy. As matter of fact, the price of somethings i buy went down in prices. If any prices went up there minimal. I would like to know what things you bought and when at the lower price and then later at higher price.

It makes sense to impose tariffs and remove loopholes to protect your own manufacturing industry. However, US has de-industrialized its manufacturing industry since 1980’. If you are not producing the goods, why put tariffs on imports? The answer are simple, US Government is so bloody in debts, it needs more tax dollars from its own citizens. Secondly, US political parties are controlled by military and wealthy corporations. Rules are imposed on imports so the corporations can make more money. When the corporations make more money, politicians will get more sponsorship and bribes. Do you guys understand now?
There's limited benefit in using tariffs to protect manufacturing of goods where your local goods are not competitive. Because functionally, that's just enforcing theft from your own citizens. Plus, your manufacturing sector might end up not internationally competitive (assuming free market trade) China is coming in with cheaper products so it doesn't run into the problem of its local products not being competitive internationally... Which would not be as true for the US. The US... Needs to focus on products and industries that make more money, because of the higher cost of labor. Unfortunately, China is also angling for those more expensive markets... Which makes things complicated.
@@Leto2ndAtreides Yes, however, Mexico will supersede China in manufacturing in the supposedly near future. Look it up, it’s an interesting and fascinating read
@@yolyV-hg3uc That's a Yes/No... Depends where in the Value Chain. Also, for the Atlantic/Western Hemisphere (mainly North America) and parts of Western Europe... Definitely. However, will it supersede overall is debatable. Your talking about hundreds of billions in infrastructure and capital costs. Mexico will need to catch up first in sheer volume and market cap before it can overtake. I really do admire Mexico for taking a sovereign and independent path for it's own economic interests despite political pressures. It takes a lot of 'balls' to follow it's own ideals... I just hope, it's own gov't and security is up to the task of routing foreign interference, etc.
I remember when Walmart advertised “Made in USA” not “It’s cheap and made in China”. Our stores need to go back to the “Made in USA” philosophy. Then more Americans get work, and have money to buy something made well.
There's a LOT of regulatory groundwork to make that happen that politicians just don't care about. We've allowed our companies to outsource everything and claim "Made in America". We've made college education unaffordable which would allow us to build and design new manufacturing and tech. We've slowly gutted unions which would train people how to do stuff and get paid a decent wage for doing so. We'd need to increase focus on high school trade schools for things like electronics, fab, and manufacturing...instead of just the regular HVAC, car mechanic, etc. Companies aren't going to stop outsourcing for the good of the US. They would need to be forced to do so...and no group of politicians is committed enough to do it. One side has no answer and the other side's answer is to crank out more plumbers and electricians (important jobs, but not jobs that are going to reverse the loss of US jobs overseas).
I read somewhere(sorry I can't give the citation) a long time ago that Sam Walton held this standard. He also kept stores in places where goods were difficult to get. After his death, the heirs couldn't backtrack fast enough. Imported goods and big stores everywhere. Profit is the goal.

Temu is a good company. Particularly if you are trying to save money. Not all of their products are quality but in my experience clothing, household items sneakers, shoes, etc.. are not bad at all. If you don't like what you bought, or if it's damaged they address the issue by returns, store credit, or they tell you to keep the item and they give you your money back. They are a threat to companies like Amazon. So much propaganda has gone out to discourage people from buying from them.
In short, the US government doesn't want the middle class or poor americans save money on their purchases. We paid taxes already BEFORE we receive our paychecks, why do we have to PAY TAXES AGAIN WHEN SPEND IT. Tariff this, tariff that. Sure, make everything more expensive and make life more difficult to those low income people.
Because Temu didn't grease Washington's hands as much as Amazon did. The government doesn't care about consumer safety nor the environment. These are tools to justify eliminating competition. Competition who couldn't grease their hand enough.
Every country has import tax for many good reasons. Without it, USA will not have any jobs. Cheap Chinese products will out compete and get US companies out of business. It's only fair that US charges import tax (as China charges import tax on products from other countries).
So we are supposed to pay Income Tax on money we are making, sales tax when we buy something and now this...??? You think preventing people to buy stuffs abroad will make them happily turn on more expensive stuffs(for usually the same quality) here...??? All this will do is make the rich in usa richer and the poor poorer...

Local businesses are dumbass people if they're complaining, Jeff Beszo realized that and made Amazon a controlled central platform because it simply works. Smart local businesses shifts to the Amazon platform or alike.
How do you propose the US compete against China, when China uses slave labor to produce goods, and the US has strict labor laws? There are a lot of Americans who make a living importing from Chinese manufacturers. Any laws impacting importation, would render a ton of American vendors jobless.

Walmart does the same thing, they tell sellers we don’t care if it costs $8.50 to make, you are going to sell to us at $9.00 or we won’t sell it in our store.
Pretty much every place does that, it's not unique to Walmart. Do you imagine that Target is easier for supplier to deal with, because Walmart is the only one that pushes for the lowest price then can get? If a given supplier can't make something for a low enough price, the store will look for someone else who can; if nobody else can either, then the store will offer a higher price, or discontinue the product (depending on how much the think consumers will be willing to buy it for; they don't want to store unsold products on the shelf because the price is too high; if enough consumers will pay more for it, the store is happy to oblige). This can be hard on a small supplier trying to break into the big times, with their first huge order which is make or break for them. But check the brands at Walmart - there's not much that comes from mom and pop businesses who can be squeezed by Target or Walmart, the large bulk comes from big brands. A brand like Igloo or Coleman or Rubbermaid can push back, because Walmart/Target.etc needs them as much as they need Walmart/Target/etc. They can equally say "if you won't pay us more than $9 for it, you won't be selling our product in your store and people will buy it elsewhere". We don't see many of their suppliers going out of business because they can't make enough profit.
It's about time. I once bought a thermostat for a mini fridge. It cost $1.81 direct from China including postage. I couldn't mail it across town for that. I wondered what deal China was getting from the post office and the US government.
No thats just 3PL or 3rd party logistics aka people who rent warehouses to store stuff for sellers. This rule will make them pay for the stuff they want to store with that seller before it croses the border.

It finds balance so the big can keep profits and the foreigners who supply to them keep supplying while some get it for cheaper but not much less. I agree that these companies need to behave better (e.g. pay their sellers what they agreed to pay them), but I also think we should be careful with unnecessary price increases for people who have had their cost of living outpace their incomes.
Low income consumers spend more money than higher income consumers. Why? Because the poor will buy cheap junk that lasts 3 months, buy the same cheap junk for another 3 months, etc. Meanwhile higher income consumers buy 1 quality thing that lasts for years, that costs the same as 3 of the cheap items, but lasts as long as 6 of said cheap items. Those same people whining about being poor, I will bet money they are whining from a new iphone.

Didn't think so. Do you sell pet treatments? Didn't think so. Do you sell fashion dolls, vintage magazines, used furniture, antiques or woodworking supplies or craft supplies? Didn't think so. So why on earth would I shop with you? I can't see that this is going to help with your situation. I will still shop other places!

If you think Temu shoppers are suddenly going to buy from small US businesses then you’re living in a fantasy world. We aren’t going to turn to small businesses for stuff. We will still seek out the lowest prices and unfortunately small businesses don’t have the lowest prices. You may have better quality items, but the buyers who are seeking higher quality are not shopping at Temu. They are already shopping at small businesses. So I don’t know how you think this will help you out.
This new law will also significantly impact US owned and operated small businesses that are using 3PL services in China to ship their products, going about it this way is going to end a lot of small businesses and the ones who manage to survive are going to pass these costs on to their customers, yet again hurting US consumers. This is going to make it even harder for small businesses to compete with the big players.
Seems like more of an attack on the US consumer we finally find a way to get nice stuff relatively cheap and now they're going to take it away The dominus rule is not a loophole consumers shouldn't have to be tariffs to order 20 bucks worth of stuff from teemo and it's not tax avoidance either US companies don't pay tariffs
Temu is excellent, the only problem is their hundreds of notification every fricking day, the notifications are not necessary but they just jam your data with so much of them, apart from that they are great.
My comment got deleted... I bought so many practical things from Temu and give it 8 out of 10 points. Almost all the products are produced in China same as most things on Amazon or your local stores
this is going to cause large scale price inflation across the U.S. Temu isn't the only impact.. Although this has bonus impact of control of quality which i still doubt considering use U.S. GRAS standard and other less than safe methods. I dunno if anyone notice but government is looking for more income they are way over budget again in spending. Where do you think all this tariff money goes? Not back to you, not back to those companies. It goes to government. In small doses its meant to level some unequal economy differences but on scale its specifically a new way to add yet another Tax to U.S. citizen income after tax since lots of our products come from abroad these days.
You do realize that a tariff is charged to the person buying a product that is imported from another Country? The consumer ultimately pays these tariffs.
@@beckyheinz7337 Apologize if was misunderstood. Simplified 1) Countries offer goods at price to U.S. corporations or consumer including tariff cost 2) Distribution Corporations or consumer orders products with cost built in based on demand 3) Country (China) shipping pays government the tariff 4) Consumer price shops and still pick the imported good in many cases only available from said country 5) Consumer pay in their purchase cost the price of tariff, but are unaware of why product cost more than it use to and assume "inflation" when its "price inflation due to tariff." When overused tariff are an invisible tax revenue stream the consumer does not see & has little control over due to nearly static demand for "The American Dream" life at the checkout. Good question to ask is does anyone know how much they already pay for goods over the original price? And will the economy keep turning or will demand plummet with these price increases causing more layoffs as Corporations try to hold on to their stocks valuations. Look at what happen to China recently as their consumer demand plummeted businesses close in droves. There also the inverse case to be argued that less tax money is collected on imported goods due reduce demand as the cost to import increases. To quote a terrible corporate renter in recent news, "Juice this hog" in reference to their renters..
I am a Temu customer in the US. The one part of these changes that I welcome is the idea that products could become less toxic and safer - big Temu issues and very important. This is a serious problem with products from China, no matter who they are marketed by. It is also a problem with US products, but not to the same degree. We really need full disclosure labeling, including country of origin. It is really a shame that no matter who you buy what from, the goal behind the market is to make someone very rich, and money is skimmed off for this purpose constantly. Wouldn't it be great if there were a production stream that was really about making neccessary and useful products FOR THE GOAL OF PROVIDING PEOPLE WITH THEM, which operated in a safe, efficient, fair-all-around way acheiving that goal and with everyone happy about it? I am concerned about safety and well-being of workers as well as users of products. Eliminating toxic products benefits workers even more than customers. Contemplating whether one should buy from China or American-made (businesses that want more and more profit have mostly eliminated US opportunities) gets tricky when you realize American workers are crushed by low wages that even keep many workers homeless. And as this video I think says, it's tougher times in China now even more than usual. And what I used to come across in the past as "fair trade" clothing was way out of my budget. (Though while I was still eating chocolate bars and buying coffee, I'd buy "fair trade" in those.) One commenter mentioned the "local warehouses" new development with Temu. I hope this will help with some of the importing issues for the customer. Somehow we need to identify some country that produces safe consumer goods, pays workers very fair wages for a good standard of living, and focus our buying there. Of course, it would be best if that choice were local for everyone, no matter where they lived in the world.
Everybody is free to do what they want. Personally, having been to C, made many great friends there, met many nice people. Followed the country's business practices, IP theft, and politics since before 2000, (even considered outsourcing there around 2010) Today, unfortunately, I treat buying from (orange 4 letter word), as the equivalent as Ukraine buying natural gas from Russia. Friendly countries like Germany, Italy, UK, Canada, do not hack into our infrastructure, they do not try to build a navy to counter us, do not threaten our politicians when they visit Taiwan, they don't tell their people that the US brought the cough to Wuhan... our friendly partners don't try to spread western hate, in particular, USA hate. our friendly partners don't try to tell Japan, South Korea, and other's in Asia, Europe, that they are pawns of the USA and try to create division between western countries. These are only recent examples. There are many many more that I've witnessed for >20yrs.
When someone is happy to sell me something dirt cheap I wonder what the real value is to them .. aka what are they paying for by discounting prices.. in my mind, it's data. What people buy, their browsing behaviour, their home address, and all the other information that is gleaned about someone when they use an ecommerce site is very valuable to the company and, in some countries, to the government of the country those companies are located.

I have found the exact same products from walmart, that are on Temu. The items on Temu are much cheaper than Walmart, it just goes to show who is screwing who, because Walmart is buying from the exact same sellers.
And Amazon!
Temu is having goods subsidized by PRC to implode U.S. businesses. The goal is to shutdown global competition and leave only China left, then the low price ride is over and China will have the ability to cripple other nations. (Taken right from Walmart's playbook!)
This takes a lot of money, so they also steal from their independent sellers to help recoup that spending.

You are correct but condescending. Those who don't understand won't listen to you if you come at them that way. 🙄
There's limited benefit in using tariffs to protect manufacturing of goods where your local goods are not competitive.
Because functionally, that's just enforcing theft from your own citizens.
Plus, your manufacturing sector might end up not internationally competitive (assuming free market trade)
China is coming in with cheaper products so it doesn't run into the problem of its local products not being competitive internationally... Which would not be as true for the US.
The US... Needs to focus on products and industries that make more money, because of the higher cost of labor.

I use Temu because now Ross and Marshall’s are too expensive. Buck doesn’t go as far
There was a big push for this in the 80s and it hasn't happened.
made in america = $20 for a roll of toilet paper.
I read somewhere(sorry I can't give the citation) a long time ago that Sam Walton held this standard. He also kept stores in places where goods were difficult to get.
After his death, the heirs couldn't backtrack fast enough. Imported goods and big stores everywhere.
Profit is the goal.
And those of us already living in poverty will be able to live with even less...goody goody
Temu is so cool, Love it 😍
Me too!!!
I confess that I got addicted to Temu over the last few months. I'm homebound so I do not go out to shop too often. I love images and the prices - it is too easy to go over budget though.
I am careful about what I buy.
They take all of your information including your social security number when you download their app…did you not know this?!
@@ArtThouNotEntertainedName one online company that doesn’t.
@@ArtThouNotEntertained I knew better than to order. It is addictive. AND they must have collected a heck of a lot of info before I stated using in late JUly. They suggest items that they should not know I purchase or have interest in.
I'm changing all of my credit card numbers. Speaking to my bank they are already onto someone the tricks they do. (Discussed in comments.)
It's only fair that US charges import tax (as China charges import tax on products from other countries).
the usa has given away it's manufacturing jobs.
You can't buy anything that isn't made in China
@@patrickp8315 either that or US businesses will have to become competitive again

I’ve had a wonderful experience with TEMU. Can’t fault them.
Lol, competition is only good when you're winning. Not long ago, people complain that Amazon is taking out local businesses. Now everyone is on Amazon's side. Stop complaining about prices when you buy sieeet.
Right, to this day I haven't ever ordered anything
since when are people on amazon's side? what tiny bubble are you confined to?
Local businesses are dumbass people if they're complaining, Jeff Beszo realized that and made Amazon a controlled central platform because it simply works. Smart local businesses shifts to the Amazon platform or alike.

Who's everyone? I'm on my side. That's why I buy from Aliexpress.
This sounds more like the US has trouble competing and now falls back on tarifs. In my opinion the lowest form of trade regulation.
Because it costs more to live here.
How do you propose the US compete against China, when China uses slave labor to produce goods, and the US has strict labor laws?
There are a lot of Americans who make a living importing from Chinese manufacturers. Any laws impacting importation, would render a ton of American vendors jobless.
Competing with who? Crap from China? No thanks. If Temu wants to sell their garbage here, they must pay taxes like all other international companies do!

I will continue shopping with Temu! Great products! And great value!!
It has to do with our garbage landfills as well. Too many bulk shipments of such poor quality items, & people don’t buy them. Thin polyester fast fashion clothes. The companies were dumping them straight into our landfills after they didn’t sell. Filling them up. I don’t know about the other states, but in California land is at a premium price. We have to minimize input into our landfills. We need to ban single use plastics as well. They just fill the land fills.
True, too much goes to landfill, but landfill has nothing to do with why these changes are happening.
@@kanders7391 The goal is to make sure they only billionaires can import and sell those items. Nobody else can import and sell those items and nobody can buy them directly The reasonable price The amount of things that Will be imported will not change significantly, they will just be charging an insane markup on those same cheap items. There's also high quality items you can purchase. And in the free world we should be able to purchase what we want off the marketplace, not just billionaire so they can control the prices of the crap they sell. I noticed a few months ago that Temu's prices had gotten high, they're basically the same price as Amazon now with half the shipping time.
local shops seem to have the sucky prices and there are a lot of them now, managed to find one seller that had better temu prices than their amazon shop but yeah lol
For me Temu had the best products forxsale, from women's clothes to household stuff, great designs. I shall miss Temu.
I buy shipping supplies by TEMU. I am glad I purchased a bulk of them last month. Now in the future I will have to shop around. But good I will be making more sales of clothing on Ebay. Hopefully it nets out?
So, if we, the customers, choose to buy directly (from Temu), it's a problem... but only for the middleman. And the solution the government has is to force us to continue buying through the middleman, with inflated prices?
Why do people resort to Temu, because the gov has it's foot on wages.
I have a pretty good guess who's paying for hit pieces against TEMU. TEMU is great. I have forgotten Amazon and eBay in favor of TEMU.
Let’s be honest Temu prices are the real prices BEFORE they are raised by the GREED! USA Manufacturers are losing business because Temu opened their businesses to people directly to the public and guess who are made about it. Temu has got a lot more variety of home decor then in shops & the quality of things are 10/10 😊
Big fan of Temu here, they have the big boys AFRAID... nice to know.
They slave their workers in China.. force children into labor. Temu knows their sellers use slave work and does nothing about it! Shame on anyone in a free country who ignores this just to save a few bucks!
Doesn't make it the right thing to do.
It's about time. I once bought a thermostat for a mini fridge. It cost $1.81 direct from China including postage. I couldn't mail it across town for that. I wondered what deal China was getting from the post office and the US government.
I'm wondering if these changes would apply to AliExpress or people that are drop shipping from China?
They would. He mentions it in the video, but then mostly just points out Temu and Shein afterwards.
They have products at local warehouses now. Will that be a workaround for them?
No thats just 3PL or 3rd party logistics aka people who rent warehouses to store stuff for sellers. This rule will make them pay for the stuff they want to store with that seller before it croses the border.
Yes. Plus you can now get pretty good discounts if you are willing to wait for an order to come by boat. Americans are naive if they think they can win this game. Most of us would just go back to buying more on AliExpress. 😂

@@stuartist they would still exist but at a tiny fraction of what they and all of the other international websites, regardless of country. Only billionaires can participate in the marketplace everybody else has to get ripped off now
So you'll pay for shipping now and still be cheaper than Walmart or Amazon for some items. Many items will go away. That's how a global economy works. It finds balance so the big can keep profits and the foreigners who supply to them keep supplying while some get it for cheaper but not much less. The bulk of temu items isn't the quality or the product on amazon or Walmart. And all products at Walmart aren't even middle tier but the lowest quality anyway. This only hurts the poor and the low income people in the end. Keeping poor poor and the rich rich. Nothing changes.

This is a regressive tax and will affect low income people much more than upper income people.

NOT from me!! I shop the way I do because I can't find a specific item I want so I have to find a website that actually has my item for sale. And that's where I'll shop. There are too many things I shop for that I can't find a seller for. For example, I pay for a lot of my medical supplies because Medicare doesn't cover them because they are not "traditional." Do you carry medical supplies? Didn't think so. Do you sell vintage record albums? Didn't think so. Do you sell old paperback books? Didn't think so. Do you sell movies and TV series?

Most US sellers with 3pl's in China will be shipping over $800 worth of goods at a time. Therefore, these changes will have 0 impact on them.

this is going to cause large scale price inflation across the U.S.
It’s hurting ordinary people and benefit corporations and anti-competition !
It might be cheap, all my goods came dirty and dusty some stuff was ok but much is junk also my decision was too stop buying from Temu.
Korea is very close to banning Temu or may be banned now since I last heard.
(Though while I was still eating chocolate bars and buying coffee, I'd buy "fair trade" in those.)
One commenter mentioned the "local warehouses" new development with Temu.
Followed the country's business practices, IP theft, and politics since before 2000, (even considered outsourcing there around 2010)
Today, unfortunately, I treat buying from (orange 4 letter word), as the equivalent as Ukraine buying natural gas from Russia.
Friendly countries like Germany, Italy, UK, Canada, do not hack into our infrastructure,
they do not try to build a navy to counter us, do not threaten our politicians when they visit Taiwan,
they don't tell their people that the US brought the cough to Wuhan...
our friendly partners don't try to spread western hate, in particular, USA hate.
our friendly partners don't try to tell Japan, South Korea, and other's in Asia, Europe, that they are pawns of the USA and try to create division between western countries.
These are only recent examples.
There are many many more that I've witnessed for >20yrs.
Temu will still do okay because the craft supplies I purchase from Temu aren’t manufactured in the US and never will be.
