The story takes place in Soria, in the so-called Monte de las Ánimas, on All Souls' Day. The Counts of Borges and Alcudiel, together with their children Beatriz and Alonso and their pages were on their way to the hunt, mounted on horseback. Alonso began to relate a legend, that of the Mount of Souls. Apparently, this mountain, which was called the mountain of the souls, belonged to the Templars, who were warriors and religious at the same time. When the Arabs were expelled from Soria, the King made them come to defend the city, which offended the nobles of Castile and created rivalry between them. Thus, a battle began until the king ended the fight; the mountain was abandoned and the bodies of both were buried in the chapel of the religious. Legend has it that when the night of the dead arrives, the souls of the dead run along with the animals of the mountain and no one wants to be there on that date.
