What’s your pick? I’m a huge fan of each for different reasons. Pre-Order the X-E4 here: moment.8ocm68.net/bWQ1g Order the X-Pro3 here:moment.8ocm68.net/yn35V Order the X100V here: moment.8ocm68.net/m9XZX ⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️
⚡️ I think it’s worth mentioning that the X-E4 plus the XF27mm R WR should be pretty darn close in depth to the X100V, while offering a tighter “normal” lens field of view, and still costs $1049 as a bundle.
I have the x100v as my fun, grab and go digital camera and it’s perfect for that. I love having the hybrid viewfinder as I prefer the optical viewfinder but will use the evf from time to time. It is great to have that option and it’s shame no other camera systems has something like it.
Well said. All 3 of those are HUGE. Shooting wide open in sunlight.. shutter so silent it’s basically an invisible camera, and a flash that I use often. Indoors and out.
⚡️⚡️ I have had the X-e4 for almost a year and just got the x-pro3. All because I initially wanted the x100v. I have tried to find an x100v at retail but have had no luck. But I can honestly say I am happy that I didn’t because I love the X-e4. I love the ability to change lenses and now want something with weather sealing. I just rewatched this video to gain more knowledge on the x-pro3
X-E series is definitely the back-up body par excellence for the Fuji system. I have the X-E2s but I'm getting the X-E4 + 27mm mark II combo precisely because I want a slim back-up body with tilt screen and weather resistant pancake lens for my X-Pro3.
⚡I have an XE3 and X100V. I had an XPro2, Sony a6300, various Nikons. After purchasing a few 35mm RF film cameras and LOVING them I decided to look for something like them in the digital world. The X100V is the closest thing I could find and it's brilliant! The XE3 is sitting in it's box! ⚡
Great comparison. Thank you! 1.5 years ago, I got the “V” as a “fun camera” next to my Nikon full frame DSLR. Barely touched the Nikon ever since and ultimately got rid of it. I looked long and hard at the pro3. But that screen is too damn gimmicky for my taste. And after years of hauling gear around and always debating which lens to bring, the “35mm only” obligation has been a bliss. That said, the 50mm equivalent tele converter and the Fuji EF-60 flash do wonders for me (for the occasional portrait). Such a nice “complete” pack, all weather sealed and without the temptations of getting a closet full of lenses….
Great comparison video ! I am a Leica 35mm film rangefinder shooter. Instead of a digital Leica rangefinder, I prefer to use the Fuji X-Pro1 and X-Pro2.
This is great information, thank you for keeping us posted on this new X-E4 and helping us make decisions :) I am certainly leaning back to the X100V personally. In black of course.
⚡ Nice comparison video. I have both the X-Pro2 and the X100V. They both get used an equal amount. I tend to use the X100V to just simplify things when I start overthinking what I should put in my camera bag. I also noticed that Voigtländer M mount lenses tend to be used more frequently on my X-Pro2 since I picked up the X100V.
⚡️looking for a street camera for an event in the Fall and am looking forward to the upcoming release. Watched a few of your videos and really appreciate your comparisons as well as editing/text effect work.
Even today, before choosing which model to buy, if you have not tried it, you must try the OVF feature on the X-proX or the X100X models. It was groundbreaking when Fuji introduced it in 2010 and still is today.
Great video, I appreciated that you kept specs nice and quick for these cameras. You gave them a good breakdown describing their similarities/differences in functionality for who they would be best suited for, while providing a lot of great side by side size comparison shots. Thank you ⚡️⚡️⚡️
⚡️This was super rad! I really appreciate the perspective. You do a nice combination of technical aspect balanced with the everyday shooting reality of the gear your review. Thanks again!
⚡️⚡️⚡️ Great video Benj! Love the attention you give to detail and the way you deliver the information. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on these Fuji cameras.
The best is X100V because you don’t need to buy extra lenses and you don’t need them. Leaf shutter and build in flash is also a major target. Perfect camera for traveling, city, nature but not for wildlife… so as always a compromise but a good one.
Fuji needs to add IBIS to the xpro and OIS to the x100 line. I switched from the X100F to leica q2 and the OIS is so underrated for shooting landscape/cityscape at night because i can hand hold down to 1/4 shutter speed and get a cleaner image by keeping the ISO low. It's really the only thing keeping me from buying into the fuji rangefinder style cameras.
@Erik Burgerhagen Really? I can definitely say it's better to have IBIS/OIS than to not have it. I use the stabilization frequently in night shoots. Leica Q has OIS the GRIII has IBIS. There's absolutely no reason Fujifilm can't fit stabilization into their Xpro/X100 lineup especially given the fact their competitors are offering it (even in smaller form factors like the Ricoh GR)
Hey @benjhaisch . Loved this video. I do have a question about the lenshood that you suggested to buy on the video description (JJC Lens Hood). Is this the same one that you're using on the X-E4 35mm lens? I want to buy the same one for me but on the amazon link seems it is specific for x100v lens.
I think Fuji is taking a page from Leica in thir releare strategy... release the best design then figure out how to lower the cost with a still great but not as great camera. I still want that X-Pro3 but I would be fine with any of these (I actually like the idea of a hidden screen).
Good comparison but you were late mentioning unique and to me important X100V capabilities like the leaf shutter, which permits great fill in flash (as only the V has flash), and the built-in ND filter. You did not mention the amazing digital zoom (50mm and 70MM) available in the X100V, which I have used with great quality results while traveling. These things separate the X100V from the pack.
eh, I'm never a fan of the digital zoom, but I can understand the convenience. Personally, I also don't use the fill flash ever so it didn't really occur to me until the very end. fwiw, I don't script these videos at all, just sit down and record whatever my thoughts are at the moment ;)
I "watched it all the way to the end." Thank you! Enjoyed the video very much. I love all 3 cameras but really want a great compact one everyday one. :)
I'm a Sony shooter but i am super tempted to pick up either the XE-4 or another compact camera i can take out and just have fun with when i don't want to lug around my a7iii or Riii. And at BH the XE-4 Is pretty cheap if you are a student and have a student account with them. I think I'm gonna get the XE-4 for some street photography...⚡⚡
The video is very well done. Clear, concise, informative and insightful. I can imagine the effort it takes to create such a video - many thanks for sharing this valuable and helpful information ⚡

I know this has been up for a while but it's still a big help. My X100 is starting to show it's age so I've been looking at upgrading to the V but now I don't know if I want the x-100V for the pure shooting simplicity or the X-E4 for the option of lenses. I just love shooting with the X100. It's just such a great experience and the fixed focal length just keeps things so simple. ⚡
⚡️ Since I already own too much X cameras those cameras with interchangeable lenses are already surplus for me. But X100V is small and compact and I'm seriously thinking on acquiring that little beast. On top of that, it has weather sealing. Why is that important? Course I always end up in the rain, snow, or a sandstorm, pick your poison...
Im really thinking about switching from the X100v to the XE4 simply because the fast heating of the X100v annoys me more than I want to admit because it is not a real issue but still the only thing that keeps me from keeping it. Has someone made any experience with the XE4? Has it because of the similar body the same heat production?
The leaf shutter alone on the x100v is distinctive versus the others. The xPro-3 has interchangable lenses. I own both along with a GFX 100s. The gap is closing. It will be cool when the GFX 100R is released. If it has the viewfinder of the Xpro3, I will be all over it.
Hi Benj Haisch. Thank you for the comparison. I was seriously considering the X-E4 + 27/2.8ii bundle until Fuji announced that the body wasn't WR (and I was already willing to accept some of the vital switches/dials/buttons they removed from there). I'm curious about your leather straps attached to the PD anchor links. Did you have them customized such that you had them stitched permanently on it anchor links? Thank you.
I’m loving these videos. But the most confusing thing about Fuji camera is that they have so many options with the same sensors. I have the x100f and I love it. I’ve thought about the XE4 but the XT4 looks tempting too. I’m torn because I have the slightest idea seeing the differences.
XE-4 is a Q2 killer.....simple....style, with XF lens....bingo. Focus is better with e fuji. price.... X pro 3 is a q2 and M killer. And SL killer. The 3 is just on another level. One has to get to the SL2 to beat it and even then....focus on the x pro 3 is better. And focus matters.
If there were Fujinon XF lenses with leaf shutters there would be no question for me: X-Pro3 for sure. But since there aren't, I want an X-100V now, and then add an X-T5 or X-H3 later.
Great video, appreciate the overview, I just got the XPro-3, so now I have all three. Can you tell me about your straps. Looks like Peak Design mount but leather, really interested....where can I get them? :-)
Well, I own the X-Pro 3 as well as the ‘2’, love those rigs and they nicely complement my X-T2 that I use for action work. The X-E2s was my introduction into the Fuji system when moving from Canon after 35 years back in 2017. At first glance, the X-E4 was looking like a “must-have” to replace the X-E2s, however, on closer inspection (via TH-cam) the missing focus switch from the from of the camera is a big negative for me, that said, I will withhold judgment until I have a chance to try it out, once my local camera store gets a few in stock. Love the looks of the ‘100’, but the fixed lens is a deal killer....for now🤤 but I might succumb at some future date when my wallet allows.
I don't understand why they crippled the x-e4 so much, no built-in flash (could be the pop-up kind), no focus mode switch, no back thumb dial, no grip contour. The x-t30 has all of those, but if you want the rangefinder style and interchangeable lenses, you're stuck with these compromises.
Nice comparison. I had to laugh that you're using PD straps with their quick-release system, but didn't disconnect any of them before filming, leading to some awkwardness. Regardless, thanks for the vid. I am a big fan of the X100 series, unfortunately these days the V is sold out everywhere and goes for outrageous used prices. I wonder if the X100(6/VI/X/Whatever) will be announced next year.
Interesting vid, just changed my x pro 1 for a x100v and loving it so far. Lovely form factor looks great. BTW love the leather straps what are they? Thanks
Very nice video, nicely summed up and compared the 3 cameras. Its also very interesting how Fujifilm thinks and is not afraid to experiment and at the same time some Fuji decisions are "interesting" there is always something missing in a camera. I think would be fantastic, if Fuji could make the X100V with interchangeable lenses, with IBIS and bigger EVF. this would be a THE RIGHT CAMERA for everything! :) what is your opinion?
Benj, I would love to get your opinion on the XPRO as my main rig for portraits. I am a professional headshot and portrait photographer, working in a small studio with strobes and outside with natural light. I have an XT3 and most recently, a X100V, and I’ve fallen seriously in love with the rangefinder style of the X100. So much so, that I’m considering selling the XT3 to get the XPRO3. I’d love your thoughts on that. I actually like the idea of the “hidden” LCD, and I love the connection with my subject when I look through a rangefinder style camera. It’s intimate and I can feel the camera get out of the way. It feels good to have an eye on my subject. I have no problem with the XT3, it’s great and reminds me of the old Nikon FE that I trained on as a teen. I just feel a deep connection to rangefinder style. I trained on film, shooting since I was 13, and something about the analog feel of the XPRO is calling to me, but unsure how it would be for professional headshots and portraits. Would you feel confident to have the XPRO as a main portrait and even a studio camera? Could it replace my XT3? I also very occasionally shoot family portraits and small events. My work is all about people and the human connection to clients. Thanks for any thoughts! I trust your expertise.
Could it replace an XT3? Absolutely. I also like the offset viewfinder that allows a better connection to the subject. They’re a very very similar camera in terms of specs, just different styling. I’d say go for it or wait for the inevitable X-Pro4
What’s your pick? I’m a huge fan of each for different reasons.

100% the X Pro 3, but its a bit heavy, so I am sticking with the nearest XE, the XE2, for now. The 4 is more like a mini X100 than a mini X Pro.
X100V complements my X-T4 as a family, daily documenting camera - nice to have the same workflow for both and similar results
⚡️
I think it’s worth mentioning that the X-E4 plus the XF27mm R WR should be pretty darn close in depth to the X100V, while offering a tighter “normal” lens field of view, and still costs $1049 as a bundle.
The value to cost ratio is great on the X-E4. Just copped one for about $700 used which I thought was a great deal.

Interesting that Fuji makes many body variations with same sensor and essentially same processor. Be interesting with a mono sensor. ⚡️
Nice job Benj. One of the best reviews of the X100V I've seen.

Hope the Xe5 gets the xt50 treatment of getting close to it's premium equivalent (which is the xpro series? So not sure how they might do it).
Amazing x100v with films simulations, ND filter, digital zoom 50, 70 mm, small and discreet
Thanks
Your explanation really hits it. Thanks
Very helpful video, Benj.
Great comparison! Thanks! ⚡
I have the X100V among others and it's great. Cool to see the sizes all together of these 3 cameras.
Love my X100V.. but don’t love the hoods people put on them. Less pocketable & that’s my priority. Love the idea of the XP3.. will try it one day.
Great video! I will probably keep my X-E3 for a while
👌👍☀️📸
great comparisons. Thanks
Thanks, not mentioned was the X-E3 was supplied with an external flash but not on the new E4
Good to know!
late to the comments but, with the x100v. is the 28mm too wide for applications or is it balanced well with the crop?
The X100V is a 35mm equivalent, so it’s a pretty good everyday lens. Not too tight, not too wide.
I'm surprised the X100V has no stabilisation. It isn't a cheap camera, while you can't just put OIS lense on it, can you?
What straps are they? I see the peak design clips but not the straps? Etsy or something?
linked in the description as well but, benjhais.ch/clever 🙌🏼
Great review on some of my favorite cameras!!! Question: What are those beautiful leather straps? Thanks!

This is super helpful thank you! ⚡️
agreed on the tape i will put that on when i get it
Hi, thank you for this review. Any leads on those leather straps? They look real cool!
What and where are your peak design fittings leather straps from? Thanks
