A new clutch will fix your gear lockout issue. If you are going to keep the car stock get a Exedy Mach 500 clutch.

More people should keep their cars longer and do real videos like yours. Loves it. I bought my 2012 Shelby a month b4 you bought your Gt so were in similiar boats. I also work from home and also drive about 3,000 miles a year or less really. Keep it new thats what I always say.

Not a boring update video at all. This is an awesome update!!! I purchased my 2011 GT because of watching your videos about 5.0, and makes me happy to see you are still keeping it. Beautiful stang!

I was fondly watching your videos on your old 96 Mustang GT. Those cars were so simple and enjoyable (although slow as do shit).

Great update Scott. One of the best cars I ever owned was an '89 convertible. Had the car for several years, and it never gave me problems (beyond the regular maintenance), and I miss that car. Got a chance to drive a Hertz Shelby GT Convertible in Miami in October (first renter with 13 miles on the clock). Made me miss having a Mustang so much, although with Miami traffic, I never got to really enjoy it as much as I liked (even on a Saturday, traffic in Miami, even in the outer suburbs, was bumper to bumper - a few days later I drove through LA in rush hour and it was not as bad as Miami was on a Saturday).

Yeah, can you imagine still having that '89 today? What a classic! And I hear you about the Hertz Mustang - I rented one in Hawaii once (on Oahu), and I was never able to get above 45mph because of all the traffic. It was such a tease!

I have the same car, bought it 2016 with 20k miles, to make the transmission more tolerable I put a Barton short throw shifter and their two post shifter bracket. The car came with 3:31 gears the performance option is 3.73 gears , I upgraded with 3.73 ford performance gears , that will solve your first gear kick in the pants issue

Wow, just 20K miles! Sounds like a good find. I'll definitely look into the gears if it continues to bug me the way it has been recently. Thanks for the tip!

Love to see this update! Great video as always. Im very partial to this year mustang because my grandpa has a 12' GT as well which I'll be buying off of him soon. I'm in OC but my uncle lives in san diego and I always look for your car hahah

Thanks man! Yeah, it'd probably be a miracle if you ever spotted me considering how little I drive this thing haha. Congrats for getting one of your own very soon - you're going to love it!

You have one of the classic chinese MT82s - those first years of Coyote Mustangs had terrible issues with the MT82. You can upgrade to an T56 or have the MT82 'bulletproofed' at a performance transmission shop. Under no circumstances get an automatic Mustang unless you are only concerned about straight line acceleration.

i put a ford racing short shifter last summer problem solved, other than the exhaust best mod ive done
i bought the car in 2015 with 30000km now has 80000km winter stored to protect from frost bitten canadian winters

Honestly you should just get an automatic V6. The way your babying this car its kinda doing it a disservice and the v6 still packs a punch 👊 yeah its like 2sec slower in the 0-60 but like bruh for each second you paid like 5k extra for that car and you rarely even drive it. Plus insurance must not be cheap compared to a v6. Like honestly check out the premium 2014 v6 you wont be disappointed.

Can you do me a favor and try to imagine me buying a new Z06? I'd love for that to come true! lol

Serious question, have you ever redlined that car?

    • @driveandreview

You haven't seen my acceleration video, have you? But to be honest, I generally baby this car and it doesn't see redline all that often.

S197 from 05 to 09 traction control was useless. I want to get the 2011-2015 as a daily driver but I heard most mustangs are notorious for hydroplaning even going like 5 mph below the limit in the rain. How does this year of mustang handle in the rain and how do you yourself drive in the rain when on a commute? Does the traction control actually work to help keep control for your 2012 model?

You’ve heard wrong, tires are the issue not the car. I’ve had my 2015 GT goin 95mph on the interstate in heavy rain on slick roads and it’s perfectly straight. Shitty tires is the only time I had issues.

      they handle fine
i have Michelin pilot sport great in the rain
my 2012 vert has been solid no issues
