I once met Jello Biafra and we were sitting in a circle talking to him after a spoken word show and one kid asked him if he like Blink 182. Jello responded by saying "I haven't got time for boring music." Loved the response. The old schoolers are the best and I understand why they get upset when people call the new crap punk.
And also, how did you not slap the fool who asked him about blink 182? I hope he wasn't your friend or someone you knew. That would be pretty embarrassing. If that was the case I hope you have since recovered from the trauma you must have went through.
Love the way Keith interviews. You hang on to his every word. Man I'd love to meet this guy and have a conversation. Been a big fan of the Circle Jerks for years.
Anyone who thinks DOA were not MASSIVELY influential simply does not know anything about punk rock. Of course they were influenced by UK, LA, SF, DC bands and vice versa. Everybody listened to everybody and stole whatever was good. That is how it was. That is what makes punk rock the greatest music ever.
I just saw DOA perform two months ago in Prince George, British Columbia, Canada. They were AMAZING! Even after all these years, they are outstanding performers and they play FAST! LONG LIVE THE MIGHTY DOA!!! (and the Subhumans too)
Have seen them many times. One time, the supporting bands didn't show up, so DOA played for nearly 4 hours. Joe said he felt badly, since we'd paid to see three bands. So off they went. I shit you not. One of the best concerts I've ever been to. They dug deep and wide into their history that night. And this was back when Joe used that big chainsaw on Lumberjack City.
I am inclined to agree with Keith and he is my favorite punk singer anyway but I'm held back by the thought that parents back in the day were acting kind of the same... going off on their kids for listening to Black Flag. Are D.O.A and Bad Brains better then the big "punk bands" nowadays? Fuck yes not even any comparison. But if young people are turned on to it just let them be. He should have at least been like, "hey you guys like punk? you should check out D.O.A and Bad Brains".
he's pashionate about what he is saying . if you combine kith morris and henry rollins both speaking about D.O.A !!! dam kinda sucks if you didnt get to see um : (
I remember running into Joey who was with his wife and baby at the Sears bargain basement in Burnaby, BC before it became a part of what is now rhe Metrotown Mall. There was only the Sears, a Super Valu and a couple of large factories where there is now one of the laegest malls in Canada (still, nowhere near the size of West Edmonton mall). It was weird, seeing someone who you see as being rhis huge rock star in a small city in Canada, in the bargain basement of a Sears (it was called Simpsons Sears back then), pushing a baby in a stroller and walking around like a responsible adult 😂
Has his DOA movie been released and for sale anywhere yet? i have been looking for years now,if so then my search skills are shit i even looked on the official site
@TheNewMusicNetwork ...because DOA didn't form until March '78. As for his previous band the Skulls 'stealing' their name from the LA band, I'm sure it was just coincidence.
Yep -- Keith has a good point. DOA and Bad Brains were fucking amazing live. Sorry, kids, but nothing on Epitaph or any of the mall-punk shit out there now compares. Keith is an awesome guy, but he hasn't aged well.
@missqueenieful Destroy All Monthly operated around the early 2000's. He said he wanted to punch them, not that he did. Then he turned them on to DOA. Where the hell is the harm in that?
Whoah! Keith talking shit on Epitaph! He DOES know that Greg is in Bad Religion, who's signed to Epitaph, right? I fuckin love ya, Keith, even though wacked out of your mind!
You do realize this is an old story kieth worked at that store in the early 80's so he was only in his early 20's or mid but my point is you should listen before flying off the handle. and I didn't mean that disrespectfully I could see your point of few if it had happened recently but that store he's talking about closed down a bit ago
why is he talkin bad about epitaph there are great bands on it like ALL/Desendents pennywise and keith said in one of his interviews that OFF! wanted to be on epitaph so shut up keith
i could listen to keith talk and sing all day...........bad brains 10th green day first in the rolling stones poll of best punk bands,I would pay to hear keiths response to that travesty............
OH SHIT!!!!!! Greg Heston is looking' his age big time.........Keith actually looks good next to him lol. How the fuck does Keith stay so young looking? He puts together a band of guys all older than him hahahahahahahahahahahahaha Man, i hope i can still tour with a band when im Greg or Keiths age!! Both of these guys are pretty fucking awesome though, i mean no disrespect.
@TheNewMusicNetwork That is correct. Also a future doa member ripped off the name "The Skulls" from a Los Angeles band with the same name that was playing earlier, then that guy joey changed their name to Doa in 1980 and put out a record. It's interesting because Tsol predates them, as Tsol had a demo ep out in 79, then released with better sound in very early 1980. Tsol were also playing in from 78 with Jack Grisham but they switched singers as mentioned + Jack formed V.C. with Todd from Tsol.
Lets be clear here, Keith comes from a time before pop punk, when punk was real, the kids arnt that clever clearly to be sugesting that some modern pop punk commercial band like Green Day is the best punk band ever. Pop punk isnt punk its just crap
Typical boomer explaining that young people dont know real music. DOA and Bad Brains immitating Johnny Rotten was the real deal. New guys imitating their heroes are just phoneys.
I love Keith's attitude towards music. "You're opinion is wrong, shut up and I'll tell you the right one."
I wish I could hang out with these people. Everyone else I just want to slap and tell them what good music actually is.
And also, how did you not slap the fool who asked him about blink 182? I hope he wasn't your friend or someone you knew. That would be pretty embarrassing. If that was the case I hope you have since recovered from the trauma you must have went through.
Baltzeg Ironically, people said the same thing about the Ramones. Just because it's not "Punk" to you, doesn't mean it ain't to someone else.
Yeah but biafra is also a shithead, the d.k's quality was from peligro & ray , Fuck jellO & blink182.
New punk like The Idles and The Chats is good. Blink is honestly too garbage to be considered punk in the first place
Love the way Keith interviews. You hang on to his every word. Man I'd love to meet this guy and have a conversation. Been a big fan of the Circle Jerks for years.

Its funny because by the way hes talking, you'd never guess that hes been sober since 89.
“This is the greatest bee-yand ever.”
Every time I saw DOA over a period of ten years or so they ALWAYS brought their "A" game. They deserve to be in the RnR HOF.
Have seen them many times. One time, the supporting bands didn't show up, so DOA played for nearly 4 hours. Joe said he felt badly, since we'd paid to see three bands. So off they went. He's got the coolest voice
keiths about to have a nervous beakdown
Keith is an O.G. I think the original vocalist for Black Flag has the right to call out any band he damn well pleases.
Saw DOA last week and they still kick ass !
Actually, hes one of the friendliest people youd ever hope to meet.
he just dislikes shitty music.
I am inclined to agree with Keith and he is my favorite punk singer anyway but I'm held back by the thought that parents back in the day were acting kind of the same... going off on their kids for listening to Black Flag. Grampa, tellin' it like it is.
You wish that was your grandpa! I know I do!!
"Who am I to question what kids like or listen to today?" A member of the first Punk band I saw when I was 13.
he's pashionate about what he is saying . if you combine kith morris and henry rollins both speaking about D.O.A !!! dam kinda sucks if you didnt get to see um : (
@raulbello and ALL and the descendents are awesome
I love this, I try and do the same thing with Australia’s Saints.
I remember running into Joey who was with his wife and baby at the Sears bargain basement in Burnaby, BC before it became a part of what is now rhe Metrotown Mall. YES KEITH! Right on bro!
I could listen to him talk about how to make ice 😂😂😂
Saw DOA just last night and they tore it up like it was 1987.
Burt Cummings voice is unreal.
Wish I had seen them.
Keith is the fucking man!
Keith is great
Bottom line...Keith Morris LOVES and LIVES music. God bless him.
Keith is awesome lol
I dig the bands that he mentioned but you are absolutely right.

Has his DOA movie been released and for sale anywhere yet?
i have been looking for years now,if so then my search skills are shit
i even looked on the official site
Look for Susan Tabatha . She was in a relationship with Randy Rampage and did the punk movie.
Love The Shirt Man! :)
Anybody from Vancouver in the late 70's remember the warehouse in Gastown?
@TheNewMusicNetwork ...because DOA didn't form until March '78. As for his previous band the Skulls 'stealing' their name from the LA band, I'm sure it was just coincidence.
Yep -- Keith has a good point. DOA and Bad Brains were fucking amazing live. Sorry, kids, but nothing on Epitaph or any of the mall-punk shit out there now compares.
Keith is an awesome guy, but he hasn't aged well.
i'd love to hear Keith talk about Bad Brains.
I thought the furry microphone was part of his hair at first

@missqueenieful Destroy All Monthly operated around the early 2000's. He said he wanted to punch them, not that he did. Then he turned them on to DOA. Where the hell is the harm in that?
When Johnny Bob says they're great.....you know you can take it to the bank.
In the way he talks, Kieth Morris is like a punk rock snape
the commodore rules
damn Keith's had those dreads for so fucking long now
Since 1988
The microphone looks like another huge dread
and the first singer for BLACK FLAG...Johhny Bob Goldstein
Whoah! Keith talking shit on Epitaph! He DOES know that Greg is in Bad Religion, who's signed to Epitaph, right? I fuckin love ya, Keith, even though wacked out of your mind!
I believe Epitaph is a thing because of Bad Religion. It's Gurewitz's label
@@The3Virus smh 🙄

"Fucking Bananas"
Actually, its a natural human mentality.
Plus, Trapped Under Ice is the first band listed on your playlist. OHHH YEAH BRA, HC 4 LIF. Tool.
i could listen to keith talk and sing all day...........bad brains 10th green day first in the rolling stones poll of best punk bands,I would pay to hear keiths response to that travesty............
Means crazy. That shit was bananas or that shit was crazy. Same difference.
OH SHIT!!!!!! Greg Heston is looking' his age big time.........Keith actually looks good next to him lol. How the fuck does Keith stay so young looking? He puts together a band of guys all older than him hahahahahahahahahahahahaha

I don't actually think they ripped the name off, I'm sure there were a ton of bands called "the Skulls," so many bands had the same name.
This is John Lennon if he was born American
Takes more than a pair of circular spectacles to be John Lennon, lol.
@skapunkteddybear :) you and me both.
@Joel2Dope how very troll of you :P
@megadethjason It's the meth .......
i just can't undertsand what the fuck hes talking about lol
@DoctorRobertBobby I could listen to ANYONE who appreciates Bad Brains talk about them lol
EpiCRAP
Lets be clear here, Keith comes from a time before pop punk, when punk was real, the kids arnt that clever clearly to be sugesting that some modern pop punk commercial band like Green Day is the best punk band ever. Pop punk isnt punk its just crap
Cheese102 People like you are the reason we have the DK tune: Nazi Punks (Fuck Off). You probably don't even understand that.
@skapunkteddybear Even more hilarious that the Circle Jerks released some shit on Epitaph XD. (& also the Cramps, Descendents etc...)
Lol
none of the bands you said are pop punk but yeah dude pop punk is the gayest thing ever
Pretty judgmental nonsense.
Typical boomer explaining that young people dont know real music. DOA and Bad Brains immitating Johnny Rotten was the real deal. New guys imitating their heroes are just phoneys.
@Jeff Baker You just retyped my comment. I agree with you.
Elitist arrogance.
