- Probably one of the rarest vacuum cleaners I own, this Sensotronic 500 has been with me probably in excess of 26 years.
In all that time it's had a problem with the motor - the top bearing is incredibly worn and makes a pretty horrendous noise when the machine has been running for a while.
Fortuitously, the top bearing from the Sensotronic System 25 that we saw in previous videos was actually in pretty good condition and it SHOULD fit into the 500 with a bit of tinkering!
In this video we'll refer to the 1992 Hoover Service Manual to see how to remove the 500s motor and what kind of a job we're faced with.
hope you enjoy the video. Don't forget to comment like and subscribe!
Hey good to see you back , have missed your uploads
Thanks very much!
It's good to see you again! Hoover continues to amaze me at the workings inside their vacuum cleaners both here in the USA and the UK, wonderful job!
It's from a time when Hoover were interesting!
@@TheVintageApplianceEmporium I strongly agree with you!
Good to see you back, 👍
Thank you!
Welcome back Steve , love this upload . Great machine
Thanks mate
Glad to see you back buddy 👍
Thanks Carl :)
Been waiting for you to debut the boxy sensotronics on your channel - great vid!
Thanks mate. More to come!
Hurrah! Nice to see you, to see you, nice.
I'm kind of glad that exposing the innards wasn't too traumatic. I had visions of a plethora of humongous screwdrivers being wielded inappropriately to the sounds of cracking plastic (I ❤Beko1987) and some tears before bedtime. Fortunately this was mostly not the case.
I must say that I try to only use plastic spudgers on plastic parts when disassembling stuff. A bit of warmth from a hairdryer is useful too when easing plastic clips - even older brittle plastic can be more forgiving when warmed up a bit - just a bit.
We really enjoyed seeing inside this rare machine, a real treat. Looking forward to the next episode.
Thank you ever so much for your video 👍
Glad you enjoyed my friend!
Nice job
Good to see you back 😃👏 these machines look very similar to some of the Rowentas doing the rounds at the time
Thank you!
Pleased your back. Hi from Hobart Tasmania.
Thanks Tim :)
I had the system 300 Audio mid 90’s but after some years, the hose broke and to replace it was as expensive as a new cleaner. Never found one to replace, so put it away some years ago. But in general it was a nice cleaner.
The hoses are SO rare now, I'm very lucky with this one
@@TheVintageApplianceEmporium yes they are. I never found one in 15 years
'What screws shall we use to hold the basecover on, I have this selection of philips and torx in various sizes?'
'yes'.
Hey VintageAppliance Emporium Are You Still Gonna Do A Video Comparison Of Your 2 Hoover Commercial Legacies?!
My mum used to have the grey version of that sensotronic. It always switched on at 60 and you had to ramp it up to 100 every time
Wow, would that have been System 200?? Incredibly rare now, I've actually never seen one
@@TheVintageApplianceEmporium it could've been a 200. It was definitely a mid range one because it had plastic tubes and a plus and minus toggle switch. Unfortunately it ended up on the scrap heap once it's usefulness was over
Sie können denn tolltray von Hoover sensotronic system 40 nehmen der passt auch bei denn system 25
