Great message. As an African American male, my parents emphasized financial management and income generation. Expensive cars and material things are not the priority. Critical message, invest your money in items that increase your network and income. Passive income is the goal.

If I had had an NFL seed to start investing with as well as any financial education at all earlier in life, I might be in a similar situation as you. My seed is really small, and I didn't learn the significance of planting and water long term until I was in my 50's. Now approaching retirement, I need to be very cautious in my gardening. We should have been learning finance in grade school. Yeah, I know I'm whining.

My mindset is that every dollar I spend is a dollar that's not out working for me. It's nice to purchase 'stuff', but always consider what it's truly costing you (compounded). This is why whenever we hear truth, we fight it so much because it's better for us to remain divided rather than united. If you look at every others race out there, you'll notice something that we don't have.

The key is not spending, instead open a fidelity acct and start putting funds into it weekly, 10 - 15 % of your pay to start, as your pay grows try and reach 25%. If you do that for bout 10 yrs, you'll be set for life 20 yrs after. So, wealthy at rough 50- 55 yrs of age (just like richard) .
