    Hi, i’m due to be starting a midwifery course in september. I was wondering if placement always starts a few months after you start uni, or if you go straight in to it? Also how many hours and days of placement/lectures do you get a week and do you get any days off? Thanks so much-love your videos!!

    • @BeingLouisa
      @BeingLouisa  6 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Hey, it always starts a few months after the course so that you can learn the correct procedures. However, I'm not sure about the integrated courses but that's how it is in my block structure. Again. my course is in blocks, so when in uni blocks it's 5 days a week 9-4. When I'm on placement it's either 4 10hour shifts a week or 3 12.5hour shifts a week. So yes there are days off 😊

      @BeingLouisa  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No problem. I wouldn't know as I did completely random A-levels/A-levels that were semi-targeted for photography. However, I know Biology and probably sociology would be really good ones. And thank you so much xx

    • @emmamacleans
      @emmamacleans 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Any science, Biology is usually needed, but do chemistry, psychology, even PE anything like that, or English Language is a good one aswell as long as you can transfer the skills to midwifery

    • @conniedaisy2278
      @conniedaisy2278 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you look on the university websites you will see there entry requirements, I was surprised to find out that even at the top midwifery uni's that I looked at online biology wasn't required. Some Universities (such as UEA) say it will be an advantage but not a requirement. However something such as a social science e.g. sociology and other subjects which have transferrable skills e.g. English are useful. They may ask for one of the following from a list i.e a university may say you must have one a level from the following list which the list could include sociology, biology , psychology , chemistry etc or even PE. So if you are not particularly strong in a 'traditional' science , don't sweat it you can still get on just make sure you check the requirements and email universities if you are unsure.

The books from the university library or from bookstores. You probably would be able to go into Midwifery but I don’t know. You’d have to ask universities and see what they say.

      Hey, that was just your first assignment don't stress too much about it. I didn't get my 33 distinctions that were needed for my uni but I scored well in my interview and tests. I guess it depends on what university you want to go to and how flexible they are in letting people in based on their interviews and tests. There are also unis that except lower grades or you can apply through Clearing in the summer if you don't get into any of the universities you've applied for...
