Criston forgets he didn’t want to be Rhaenyra’s mistress, but has no problem being Alicent’s. What a douche. So much for his so called honor. That faded real quick.
That’s just.. a character arc? He was disillusioned by the idea of chivalrous knighthood after he saw it meant less to others (rhaenyra) than to himself, went on a suicidal rage to cope, then once given a second shot at life decided to shed his chivalrous principles and go full hedonist. There’s like a decade between what happens between him and rhaenyra and his relationship with alicent.
Quick? There's like 18 years passed since Rhaenyra and Criston broke up.
@@artyjnrii we don’t know when Alicent and Criston started their affair. Chances are it’s been going on for years.
@user-yl2so8db5t its just bad writing on the show

Same. I don't know how serial killers do it.
Your breakdown clarifies each episode opposed to making it more complicated like others. Thank you!
I find Aegon II's portrayal very interesting, and certainly more nuanced than in the book. It seems like, when he isn't distracted by drinking and such, he actually has some desire to be a "good king", but really has no idea what that means or how to be one. It's like he has this very superficial list in his mind of Things Good Kings Do: be just and generous to the smallfolk, win glory in battle, crush rebellions, collect grandiose titles, etc. He just has no real understanding of what kingship is beyond those vague superficial ideas, or how running a government or a war actually works. This makes perfect sense considering he seems to have been largely ignored growing up, and certainly never received any instruction in rulership since he was never considered the heir. That in turn makes his insistence on having his own young heir at the council meetings very fitting - on some level he realizes his own lack of preparedness for rule, and wants to avoid making that mistake himself.
Of course, that combination of desire to be a "good king" and no clear idea of how to be one makes him massively vulnerable to manipulation by the people around him, who are only too happy to pounce.
Thanks Robert for a great video! One note: although the names Blood and Cheese are not said aloud in the episode, the captions do in fact refer to the characters by these names.

That tapestry is defiantly getting updated as the episodes go on… the fact the last tapestry image was showing the death of Lucerys,; falling from Arrax, surrounded by Vahgar.
I could not have cliked on the vid any faster once I saw it, love your channel by the way!
I was not prepared for that first scene with Alicent and Criston lol. I liked the less "mythic" approach to Blood and Cheese. The scene had its own unique sort of visual tension compared to the books, tho Haelena's seemingly spiritless resistance was kind of annoying. Still enjoyed everything overall
One does have to keep in mind that Helaena is clearly portrayed as neurodivergent, and raised to be obedient to a fault.
@@mokarokas-1727 thats true, perhaps she was somewhat resigned to what was going to happen if she had already foreseen it
Helena got traumatized twice, loosing her kid and then walking in on her mom🤣
True. Helena seemed so overwhelmed by the murder of her son that she didn't appear to react to them at all. Or was it because she was already aware that it was going on? Who knows? I could see Helena not caring too much about it.
However, if and when Alicent's two sons find out, I'm sure their reactions will be quite different! Criston is risking torture and execution, while Alicent is risking her reputation. Also, one could easily argue that Criston should have been outside Helena's door guarding the heir.
That is not funny man
@@Jen7867 In that kind of situation, getting to safety really has precedent over reacting to promiscuity. lol, the brain just goes "okay, that one will just have to wait".
Like you say she probably wouldn't be too surprised or care too much anyway though, after all she's clearly portrayed as neurodivergent and childlike - which is why she sneaks off and hides in her mother's room rather than calling/getting guards. Not that I assume she or anyone else has been taught what to do in this kind of situation...
@@whoschach It was horrible, but at the end of the day it was a TV show and humor is how many people get it out of their system.
@mokarokas-1727 This was very well-written! 🙂 I completely agree. It was very realistic for Helena to prioritize her and her child's mortal safety over (possibly) being surprised about her mother's and Criston's sexual relationship. The actress Phia Saban did very well, imo.
And I normally wouldn't have expected much of a reaction, except that in this world, the stakes of promiscuity are higher. Criston is literally risking being tortured and killed for going against his kingsguard oath. While Alicent is risking losing her reputation as a "respectable woman" in the eyes of others.
I just love hearing your and other's opinions whenever I see ambiguity like this. 🙂 But you are right, it's only natural for humans to prioritize survival over other concerns.
I also like that the show has chosen to make Helena a dreamer, like Daenys.
I really like what they did with Aegon II, clearly he wants to be a good king and help the small folk.
Just my opinion Robert, but when they say they are where Torren knelt to Aegon I took that as they just meant the north in general amd not specifically the wall. Then later specified the wall was where King Joes dragons wouldn’t cross
Thats the way I took it as well.
Well done Robert / IDG , very comprehensive breakdown of HotD S2 E1. Its great to have HotD back up and running / airing for us all ; though for a premiere certainly wasn't mind-blowing or anything imo. Though certain aspects really stood out that i appreciated quite a bit ; i liked Emma's RT portrayal and the general choices around the character - understandably visibly upset and shattered. I also liked Aegon II not being a young king monster from the off , in the ilk of King Joffrey from ASoIaF. It added more complexity and nuance that AT2 even tentatively gave it a proper go , was somewhat receptive to the duties and hearing from the small-folk and seemingly quite enjoying it. I also thought some of the brief exchange(s) we got with Rhaenys felt more like her book character than what we saw of her in S1 , hope we get a bit more of that between now and Rook's Rest.
Also , some interesting lore expansion , mostly highlighted in this vid , be it canonical or not certainly some interesting choices / inclusions there. And not a gripe and of course difficult to properly show on-screen regardless but B&C slightly fell short of my expectations going in. This should have been one of those OMG super impactful and memorable moments and of course it still is to a degree but i think some of the choices away from the text lessened the impact imo. With Alicent not involved at all , the lack of the other son in the mix , Helaena's Sophie Choice moment much more taken out of the equation and HT's reaction even , among other aspects etc. I do like that Condal handles such things much more tastefully and far less gratuitous than D&D for example and was appreciated he cut away at the right moments. Can't even imagine how D&D would have ran with the B&C situation. But i do think cutting out many of those elements i mentioned from the text or lessening them quite a bit did affect how memorable and impactful the incident felt. At least to me.
Though I still very much enjoyed and appreciated the episode and look forward to the rest of the season.
Also with B&C I thought it was still overall well done and i concede can't really show like for like on screen from the text regardless and its a difficult incident to capture. Especially with the balance of not being gratuitous / going way over the line in general and yet keeping it as impactful as possible as well.
Talking to people who don't know Fire and Blood it hit very hard.
I had the same feelings mate. i liked it but the end was a little underwhelming for me. Can't wait for next week though.
You missed Helena's prophecy. She blurts out, "It's not the dragons I'm afraid of, its the rats'.. and everyone looks at her likes she's insane, and then her son is murdered by a rat catcher.
he mentions it at 11:45
It’s mentioned at the end.
Thanks for breaking this down in nerdy detail!!! INDEEPGEEK!!!!!!
👍👍👍👍👍
So glad to see an original ASOIAF Chanel Thank you appreciate you back then & now
I mostly liked this episode. The blood and chesse scene was a bit underwhelming. I expected it to be more violent. And why were there no guards in the castle? 8/10
Speculations:
- more concern from an attack from above, they never considered an attack from below
- Larys (in)convenient timing of changing the staff
- Cristen and Alicent keeping the halls clear as to not have their affair caught.
- the Greens only had 4 Kingsguards, two of which can be seen guarding. Cristen fucked up by not being at his post.
I'm glad you took some time to make this video more concise than some others.
So many great performances in this debut episode! I can tell that everyone involved in this show is super excited to be working on it.
Omg... I clicked so fast😂😂😂. Literally stopped studying to watch this
As you SHOULD! one needs priorities in life.
Lol
Same!
Haha I am work listening:
Get back to your studies! Naw, I'm just playin. Idc
I've watched a lot of horrific events on TV, fictional and real, but nothing has shook me like that last minute of this episode.
Then u don't dare to read the book 😢
A million times more horrific in the book version. They really played it safe on the show. That event was on parr with the red wedding, in terms of how gruesome it truly was.
@@beadragon1048not on par it was leagues more gruesome than the red wedding.
Honestly I’m happy they drew back on it, for casual viewers. Still brutal, visceral and tense. I told my fiancée what the book portrayed/what I expected and she said she’d be done with the show if they portrayed like the book. And what they showed was more impactful and brutal than the red wedding.
Her words summed up…
Red wedding - consequences for going back on your vows as an adult in a time of war. Stabbing Rob’s wife in the belly was a little much, but not a child.
Blood and cheese - mindless baby murder, son for a son when the son was the son of the most innocent person in the whole show. “I saw his face”
Show got the essence of the scene from the book and that’s all they needed. And as someone who likes the book portrayal more (mostly because of first time bias), the actress playing Helena knocked it out of the park imo. She is autistic in the book and the show, but watching how she portrayed “horror” on the spectrum in the show was magnificent.
People who are mad about how the show portrayed it are honestly kinda sick in the head or purists. I hope it’s the latter.
@@fy4b230 I had a way harder time with the Red Wedding, because it's a whole bunch of fleshed out characters I like and care about being betrayed and murdered in a very gruesome way, all at once. I have NO connection to this child, or his sister or mother. His death was gruesome too, but quick. So for my part I can't fathom how THIS is considered worse than the Red Wedding, even with the child decapitation factor. I think this will stick with me at the same level as imagining the last moments of the father and daughter the Hound robbed and later buried.
@@mokarokas-1727 yeah completely understandable.
My fiancée had a harder time with Blood and Cheese because of the innocent murder of a 4 year old child, which I can understand as well. And then when I told her what happened in the book, she said that’s too much.
Adult deaths < child death basically.
There’s even a camp that are mad about the dog just being kicked in the episode and saying that’s “too far”.
I’m in your camp and had the same reaction when my fiancée told me this. I could fanthom how it would be more brutal than the red wedding then she explained it.
Red Wedding is the more brutal scene on the show. However, if they did a 1 for 1 of the book blood and cheese, even with the character connection, I’d have to probably say the blood and cheese scene would be more brutal. Would have to be 1 for 1 and no way they could do that anyway with child acting safety laws.
Cheers!
As bad as the end of the episode was...knowing what happens in the books the main thing I thought was "oh...this isnt as bad as I expected"
Damn...the books have clearly desensitized us 😂
lol. Use brutal instead of bad.
💯
So this is just my take, and I would never claim to be better than Ryan, but this is the changes I would have made to the Blood and Cheese scene with my five years of film school experience:
1. Helena needs to be more emotional, falling to her knees begging, crying, etc.
2. Have it so Helena points at Jaeherya instead of Jaeherys. But Blood and Cheese pull the switcheroo and kill the other child instead. So that way the elements of picking in the other child from the book remains.
3. Have the camera do a closeup shock on Helena's face while we hear the sounds of Jaeherys screaming and being killed.
4. Cut to Alicent and Criston in bed, and their lovemaking is interrupted by a bloodcurdling scream from Helena.
5. Cut again to Alicent and Criston rushing up to the door alongside other guards and throwing it open to find Helena rocking back and forth on her knees screaming while holding Jaeherya, drenched in blood.
6. Cut to Alicent's horrified face, let it linger for a few seconds while Helena keeps screaming and wailing, then cut to black.
This is the way
Damn that would have been better
6 year viewer with no understanding how youtube works. I really hope splitting your live and regular videos has gone well for you. I was very nervous for your channel when you made that change. Much love.
The Winterfell lottery isn't in the books, but I remember in Fire & Blood it was mentioned that the Starks saw it as their duty to always have one of their own on The Wall.
I like the simplification of the northern story. Speeds the show along for non-book readers.
I wish Blood and Cheese was a little more like the books, but I don't mind it. The book story was so brutal, it very well could be some in-world hyperbole consistent with the unreliable narrators
Amazing video
They totally dropped the ball on the epic Sophie’s choice in the Blood and Cheese incident.
I'm disappointed that they skipped the psychological horror of the choice with Blood and Cheese, I think it's more important than just that one scene given what we know about what happens with Helaena.
The choice was the important part and they messed up by leaving it out
Copying this from another thread I posted but: It's an understandable change that does not alter the story in any meaningful way. "The psychological horror" of watching a child get decapitated after making his mother point him out will be just as impactful to the characters and story going forward. The only change about it I think makes a difference is the location (not Alicent's chambers) and that the two-year old son and the daughter were not awake or aware when it happened (thus slightly altering their perspectives). Otherwise, the story is unaltered and the audience didn't have to watch people be tortured as entertainment. Seems like a win from the writer's room tbh.
NOTE: I am also slightly disappointed as it was an opportunity for the show to be brutal, but I am confident the follow-up scenes reflecting the issue will be more meaningful narratively.
@@shanesalyers5433 I disagree that it's the same impact.
There is a big difference between standing there helpless as someone else does something, and taking an active part in the decision of who will die. Especially when it's followed by being reminded every time she looks at her child that she chose him to die, and the child knowing that too.
@@Valkanna.Nublet I agree with you entirely. Its not the same. From the writer's room however, unless they planned to dedicate more screen time to just Haleana, which they've done very little of (despite her having some of the hardest lines of S1) we wouldn't see the impact of that in any meaningful way on screen. This steers the story back to how the men react on behalf of the female characters and catalysts more violence as a result. It keeps the theme on track while maintaining some of the original brutality.
It's tragic to lose the potentially interesting angle, but as the season was cut by 2 episodes, I don't hold it against the writing is all I mean. Narratively, it functions the same for the show's purpose.
Alyn looks 45 years in the show

I really thought Helena would react differently to the death of her children.
I’ve read the books and bigged up Blood and Cheese to my husband who has not read it. And we were both disappointed by how it went.
I really love the series, but is based on the "misunderstanding trope", making it quite frustrating for me.
I mean I wish we where talking Winds Of Winter but I’ve given up on that / Daemon suddenly has a thing to do, lol
I thought the Blood & Cheese segment was "meh". They killed a young child in cold blood. Whether it was the lack of brutality, Heleana's vague reaction or the simplicity of the whole scene, I just didn't FEEL anything. It was rather unimpressive. In truth, I kinda felt that way about the whole episode.
Blood and cheese was definitely underwhelming compared to the books but casual fans who haven't read the book liked it better than book readers. Overall I think the first episode was good, why didn't you like it?
Yeah cos hearing a 3 year old child's head being hacked off was just meh.
I swear some of these fans are straight sadistic.
@rustiouk760 that's exactly what I said...it was a horrific event that they portrayed in a mundane way.
@manvirshergill1739 in addition to the Blood & Cheese segment, I just thought Rhaenyra's reaction was a bit underwhelming too. Mysaria is also played by an actress I dislike more the more I see. As a whole it just didn't have the impact I was hoping for. I'm not losing hope though! I still admire much that they are doing. Costumes and sets being absolutely amazing.
Before I watch your video does anyone else think the Blood&Cheese scene could have been more dramatic? The book version sure was. Making Helena choose then doing the other one. The writers had it right there on a silver platter. Were they worried it would be too shocking or disturbing? I guess so. Darn shame. I didn't expect them to show a childs head being chopped off but the whole scene was way too watered down. There was almost no tension and zero shock. The tension in the book was from making Helena choose. The shock from when he killed the other one. This had none of that. I think people should be pissed but they want to like it so badly that they give it a pass. Then they go directly to Alicient and Cole doing it. It was terrible actually.
Agree on the lack of tension...
Thanks for taking the criticisms about AI art into consideration
so pissed at the way they toned down the blood and cheese murder. That had the potential for a Red Wedding level "Oh shit" moment and they watered it down.SMDH
I wrote similar. The writers had a serious psychological terror scene handed to them from the book. I can se not showing a child being beheaded of course but there was no tension, no shock when Blood killed the child she didn't choose. That aspect was the major part of the scene. They watered it down way too much.
Graphic on screen violence wasnt necessary. Ned Stark's " haircut" wasnt shown in detail, but the creators had no issue with the graphic throat slicing at the Red Wedding( which was poorly done IMHO) nor the multiple stabbing of a pregnant woman. Oberyns death was brutal as well. I guess my complaint is that they dropped the ball on the portrayal of an incredibly brutal murder with long reaching and drastic consequences
@@robertrichardson8025 I didn't expect them to show a childs head being chopped off but the whole scene was way too watered down. There was almost no tension and zero shock. I like how they Have Alicent & Cole being a thing cause it’s good Tv & it’s setting up Larys to Betray her since he ain’t getting his time with her ..
I could be wrong but it wouldn’t surprise me cause he gets Aegon out of kings landing when Rhaeynera & Daemon take the city…
It’s also another way of Showing how Alicent goes off the deep end by the time of Aegon III regency is going on
I like the in-video differentiations of the book and the show, it helps a lot!
Can you re-upload the season one breakdowns please?
Worried I'm seeing the same sort of red flags GoT demonstrated towards the latter stages. Trying to remain optimistic though
What a annoying fanbase man. At least this channel comment section is better than most, but people are caring more about the dog than the little kid,and I cant blame then. There was no emotion in Blood and Chesse scene.
I give the episode a solid B+. At the end of the day I’m looking forward to episode two and that’s what matters.
On another note, at first the bickering between Blood and Cheese was a bit annoying, and the quite took me a bit to get used to because I do remember how brutal the book part is. But, then I rewatched it and thought about it. These aren't trained assassins, they are regular commoners, and a ratcatcher is not an assassin, a brutal soldier is still not an assassin. And it made sense they would bungle things or try to get out of there as quick as possible. And the difference in motivations (Purely financial vs financial and a grudge) was something I thought about. Would I have liked it to be closer to the book, yes.
Was it bad because it or do I dismiss it, no. The sound of them sawing a child's head off got all those I watched it with to flinch even without seeing it.
Blood & Cheese was a bit of a let down for me. I prefer the book version. The mood was too subdued, I felt more upset that the best boy & loyal dog got kicked than the child getting murdered & butchered.
This show just feels like team black propaganda. They just couldn't have their precious Rhae Rhae order the death of a child
@hydromancer4916 wtf are you talking about, the show is intentionally blurring the lines so you can’t easily say which side is good or bad. They very visibly show Alicent remorseful for Lucerys after his death and Aemond being surprised and a bit remorseful immediately after he killed him. The whole killing a baby in his bed thing makes the blacks look bad so how is this propaganda?
ikr, it isn't clear who will win the war at this point. But it very much seems like the show is run by Rhaenyra's loyalists. It's a shame really when politics interfere in such ways.
I get what you saying but I think it far more complicated than that. The purpose of Dance of the Dragons was to show us three things. How truly dangerous a war between dragons is. How it really doesn’t matter how you argue whoever deserves to rule it really doesn’t matter. Thrones are won by steel & fire.& Lastly that both blacks & greens aren’t that great. I think the show has botched the job. I think they went with Rhaenyra & Alicent aren’t trying to do this OMG tragic besties which I think while first 5 episodes was fine but the moment Alicent wore green that should’ve stopped.
Forget that will they or won’t they because it really questions there competence because everyone knows the minute Viserys died war was gonna happen.
Alicent was fully involved in the coup & show wants to leave her blameless. Aemon was a freaking psycho & I agree he needed some sympathy I think having him kill Luc on accident was baffling because it a damn dragon what did you expect to happen chasing him with a dragon. Aemon is either an idiot or murderer.
However I find it baffling that the greens least deserving of being whitewashed Alicent & Aemond gets. I think they botched Ser Cole who I refuse to believe it was simply she dumped him & he angry.
Rhaenyra it somewhat similar Rhaenyra was probably a spoiled princess. I think she if Laenor was murdered in a conspiracy & instead of simple lovers quarrel I think Rhaenyra did it with Daemon help. Though I question it because Laena was close with them & Daemon along with Corlys seemed to get on in Fire & Blood.
& Rhaenyra didn’t order Aegon kid death Fire & Blood doesn’t shy away from bashing Rhaenyra the maesters don’t particularly. Daemon if anyone they protecting. Which is wild because they clearly had no problem with Daemon doing stuff he actually didn’t do in season 1 but season 2 they don’t want him to explicitly murder a kid.
yet another who doesn't understand history or any aspect of reality
@@festuskrex4718 "intentionally blurring the lines" is just another way of saying "making team black the good guys"
INDEEPGEEK! you still got it! amazing breakdown!! Thank you!!! ^_^
Fun little tip here.
Watch in subtitles.
The subtitles will sometimes label who is talking and, in this case, it showed "Cheese" as speaking.
I've waited all day for this
Cregan and Jace's scene at the wall implies a previous bit where Jace arrives in Winterfell, Cregan suggests somewhere private to talk, and then they walk north in silence for two weeks.
Alyn of Hull doesn't look enough like Lyonel Strong to be a son of Corlys.
I believe Larys is a Rat Warg and that's why she was afraid of the rats. It was and still is a dual vision. Much like the grey girl on a dead horse vision The red witch at the wall represents Dany in Essos dealing with the plague The Pale Mare Not Arya or Jayne Pool. The show continues to show rats and make green seer connections as well. Idk.
Alicent sent those people bathing her because Larys told her they work for him, so she felt like Larys is in that room
Was very disappointed with blood and cheese. It was so much better in the book.
Same here.
Hard to get it right if they ignored Maelor.
This may be an unpopular opinion but I was actually very glad they changed how blood and cheese happened. I couldn’t imagine trying to film a scene anything like why happened in the book.
I liked it too.. and how Helaena reacted
@@sandche8995 I liked her reaction too. It felt very valid for her character and how they developed her
They could have done it better. But the point is that Halaena had to make a choice between her two sons. Instead they try to make her bribe them with a lame necklace. It was anti-climactic! The whole point was that Halaena had to look her other son in the eyes knowing that she chose him to die.
Thank you, you described the major difference between the show and the books. Why it felt off, but for those of us who didn't automatically dismiss it, it's less psychological horror, but it's still brutal and disturbing.
Yay Robert! I look forward to your ep breakdowns. Excellent video as always my friend 👍
Wonder if that Stark expectation is a thing in the books? If one in every 10 Starks is mean to go to the Wall, did Benjen use that as part of the Jon back-up cover, or just as a means to avoid drawing attention to why he'd do so.
I love how a young Bobby B. heads this channel
I have a different opinion about the changes in the first scene. I think Jace was getting those points wrong. If you think back to last season you will remember that he struggled with all things valyrian history. Also it could be the show runners getting things wrong again
I'm very disappointed at how the writers sanitised blood and cheese. Instead of a fun and unique bit of psychological torture, it's just another murder. Those are a dime a dozen.
if y'all stop looking at this show through the lense of lotr and start learning real History, you will become smarter and you will love the show more
The only scene I didn't agree with was why kick the dog. What was the point? It's just a show, but still.
It's a quick and easy (and somewhat lazy) way to show the guy is a bad person.
he’s here to do political assassination? cool, wait what he just kicked a dog?! I HATE THIS CHARACTER FOREVER!
@@UserNo1000I knew people would be sidetracked by the dog
It’s just another way to quickly show this guy is trash but yeah do I have to see him kicking the dog, I honestly would’ve rather seen the headless kid, lol, at least we are used to that type of violence in the show
@@UserNo1000 yes
If i was a smallfolk i would 100% prefer aegon ii than rhaenyra
Thank you!!!!!!
Hey dude before I watch do you spoil the future episodes at all or does this just discuss episode 1?
I was really waiting for this video
I'm taking a small gamble here as I haven't read the book and I'm trying to watch the series without spoilers of future events. So far it seems that this series is safe. Very happy to floow for now at least :)
Putting Rhaenyra's grief and B&C in the same episode was a mistake to me; both are big hyped plot lines deserving one whole episode each; B&C felt rushed and poorly managed, turn it highly anticlimatic; the episode should have ending with Daemon hiring B&C as a cliffhanger for the things to come and give it more space to develope
Criston Cole working out his other set of swords these days apparently
"swords", plural? 0.0
Will we get to see 'The Hour of the Wolf'?
this scene was so much better in the book. The show version was a letdown
Disappointment of the year
Please do a video “would Jace make a good king? Lol I can hear it already ❤
Alicent must be downing Moon Tea like Robert downing WINE!
Wow I was in the first 500 for the first time
Blood and Cheese was anti-climactic. They ruined that scene badly. It’s so stupid, but exactly what was expected.
If the show is supposed to be the actual correct stories of how things unflod, I don't understand why the showrunner cut off the younger son of Aegon.
The books telling was so much worse. Low-key, it was good that the blood and cheese scene was not word for word.
Yeah in the book, Alicent and all the children were there and it was much more psychologically disturbing. The show was brutal with the offscreen sounds, but overall more tame. Tbh I’m glad they went that direction.
Strong disagree but that's OK. I'm sure some HBO execs told them it was too extreme
Totally disagree. The trauma and brutality of that event was peak GoT. The adaptation was a watered down mess
@@PeaceEpieces Agree. They ruined it.
@@PeaceEpieces Lmao imagine saying a mother having to choose which child gets murdered in front of her is "watered down." Sometimes excessive violence is excessive. The show got the point across.
I wouldn’t say blood and cheese was awful. I think it’s like the Harry Potter films, on its own it’s alright but compared to the source material it’s disappointing.
The source material is basically a history based on biased sources. It wouldn't be surprising if the Greens use the book version as embellished propaganda to garner sympathy/support and make the Blacks look as bad as possible. Plus Alicent and Cole need to put themselves somewhere else and Helaena needs to not be pointing the finger at Aegon's heir/favorite child when they tell him about what happened.
That last 10 minutes! Dear god! My heart was beating like mad waiting for that ending, hoping they don't actually show everything!! As someone that's keeping an eye on what's happening to Gaza with Horror, Just the sounds were enough to traumatise me!
Hi mate, can you breakdown Pirates of the Caribbean like you do for LOTR? I would love to see "What if.." videos for POTC
Sound quality needs work.
That first episode was fine but it can’t beat episode 1 of season 1 which in itself is disappointing 😭
I wish the show followed the book with regard to the choosing between the two sons of Aegon. I think that was a big miss.
It wouldn’t really be revenge from team green now though.
Is Aemond now Aegon's heir? At least until another son is born?
One thing I'm a bit disappointed with is how the show portrays Helena in that scene. She comes across, not as a frightened mother put in an impossible situation and a queen struggling to also consider the good of the realm, but as someone naive and, honestly, a bit touched. To me, the whole sequence makes her come across as a few cats shy of a clowder.
This show is so good can’t wait for the next episode and your next review
Ngl, I was very whelmed by the B&C scene. I don't need gore or explicit violence, but I felt like the scene didn't create the necessary tension. Also, because we had hardly seen the kids and Heleana has been turned into a foreshadowing tool, the emotional impact was very limited. The cast, especially the two monarchs, were definitely doing the hard work in this episode. I hope the writing offers them better material during the season.
Didn’t blood and cheese appear in Aemonds room? I swore it was the same table Cole and Aemond were just strategizing at
Yes but they moved on when he wasn’t there.
