"It will gag a maggot" Words you could almost smell and sure wouldn't want to. Fascinating operation your fixed and variable costs must be astronomical with all that equipment running.
I use to manage the landscape department of a 1500 acre resort in Missouri in the late 90's that was owned by Bass Pro Shops. I would purchase those semi truck loads of mulch. It was really great to see how it all starts! We use to compost and recycle everything from the gardens and the restaurants too. I use to go out in the woods and turn it. For me that was so fun to get away from everything, hop on the machine and get in the zone! It was my quiet time!😂 Thanks for sharing this and allowing me to remember a great memory! You are doing a great job, keep it going!!
This was a outstanding video really enjoyed it really glad I came over form Letsdig channel your now in my everyday list to watch ! Good Day from up in RI 😊😊
I’m amazed what your equipment expense must be. Great video and so educational. You should be part of every kids school curriculum. Every young person should see this process!
Well now I know why some potting soils are so expensive. The time an resources it takes to make a great mix is quite extensive which equals to expensive. Thanks for the tour!
Hi Ryan, your videos are becoming 1st class productions. Thankyou for taking the time to expertly film, edit and post these videos. Excellent overview and content in showcasing your operation. Well done...
Another interesting and informative video. I’m retired now but worked for a mulch and soil company in western Pennsylvania years ago. I pulled a dump trailer hauling tree bark mulch to the yard from sawmills in a hundred mile radius which they would grind and compost and delivering compost, dyed mulch and soil to customers in a hundred mile radius.
Thank you !! Mr.Digg, for taking time out of your busy schedule to show us how you make mulch. Very interesting Operation you got going there. And yes thouse EGG AND BABY CHICKEN stink enough to Gag a dead maggot. Been at the landfill many times when they come in.. Thank you for a very good video.
Hi Ryan! Your videos are always informative, and entertaining. I never realized all of what went into making these products, and I'm sure that yours have more quality controls than most others. You surely take pride in your work, and your products, and it shows!
Brother, when you were talking about the chicks and eggs decomposing, it brought me back to my young teenage years of cleaning out chicken houses. 🤢 Always enjoy your videos. Fascinating
I enjoy your videos it brings back many memories from my early teen yrs working at the family landfill running trachoes, 955 dozer and a d8 along with watering the roads and working the sludge pits then driving the rolloff truck to get 2 loads a night of sludge and pallets with cardboard after school and on weekends. I got my cdl at 16 and have had it eversince i really enjoyed the landfill then we invested in a larger one 3 countys away. Great stuff I truly enjoy all you do.🇺🇸👍🇺🇸🙏🇺🇸
Found your channel from watching Mike and Chris. I am very impressed by what you do. Any thing you can keep from being buried is great. Otherwise sooner than later we will run out of places to bury it. This is one area that I think should be well supported by the city state and federal government instead of making it difficult. I hope other land fill operations see your channel and copy some of the things you do to recycle. I love the channel and hope you keep posting informative information.
I hope I can keep working on the local government to help us recycle more, maybe one day they’ll wake up! Thank you for watching & taking a minute to comment!!
Thank you for a fascinating explanation for the production of something we buy, throw down and forget about. I had no idea the process was so involved and complex 👍
Looks like the raw pine bark or the stringy, fibrous output from the first grinder would be perfect to spread over muddy areas to help keep vehicles from getting stuck.
This video made for great viewing bro. My wife works in a hatchery here in NZ and said their non usable eggs go to a composting place as well. Safe travels. Ken.
Ryan my man you are nailing these videos brother you keep doing what you do with the attitude you have and bringing a new fresh look at how things can be trash to one and if used correctly can be a viable solution for so many things you won't have to worry about subscribers Dude when I pull up TH-cam you are first and then DP great job buddy
It is interesting to see all the pallets being destroyed in your area. In other area, scrappers travel around picking up used pallets and taking them to places that refurbish and sell them to manufacturers producing new products.
Mr D- I have enjoyed your channel ever since I found it through a shout out by DP. Your videos continue to get better and your outgoing personality and great explanations are very appreciated! Keep up the great work!
The city has a composting/mulching facility. They were selling mulch mainly to landscapers and retail. Compost can be purchased wholesale or retail. You have a huge operation. I enjoy the tours.
Watching your videos I'm reminded of the saying, one man's trash is another man's treasure. Love how you leverage the different businesses to make recycling feasible and cost effective for your operation. Must hurt to see good stuff being buried that you just can't profitably make use of.
I use to love doing mulch making as a side job from my regular construction job; until the mulching company I worked for decided to get the bandit mulchers then it became a tedious process with more downtime than production time because the belt or grinder always had something wrong with it. I don't know about now days how the bandits hold up to other mulchers but I can imagine they're still a pain in everyone's ass as I see more and more companies moving away from bandits.
thank you for the tour, This has been a very good education about what all is in and has been done with it in the bags that we buy from the local garden supply stores around the country.
Looking at the mulch side, especially the initial breakdown of the product. Reminds me of the "mulch" that my local school system would put out on playgrounds and parks. it wasn't mulch as much as it was stuff that probably was mixed with stuff that had been run through a tub grinder that had some really worn hammers and anvils. Like some chunks would be about four to six inches diameter and maybe like ten to fourteen inches long. All mixed with micro chips, actual 2" to 4" chips of mixed wood, leaves, pine straw, pine cones. Basically all the stuff that the city and county would pick up as green waste would be crunched up mixed and spread out. Stuff was horrible. Landfill wouldn't take it because it was a burn hazard, it was too bulky for hog fuel on top of no plants nearby that could burn it. It was finally dumped on a field where the field owner had to pay for a good grand under to come out and turn it all into reasonable stuff which they then sold by the tandem axle load as organic booster for clay fields. Dump out thirty or so loads, turn plow and disc it in. Add more and repeat, mix in sand and then fifteen or so loads of compost. Suddenly a cheap clay field in a year is highly productive grow field. Many thought it was basically magic that last bit.
Not sure how many employees you have across all of your businesses but I’m impressed you know every name. Also I don’t see micro managing. It’s nice for managers to let workers do their job. Mistakes will be made but it adds to the experience and knowledge.
I would like to see you guys doing maintenance on the equipment like those grinders and chippers, lube, screens, belts you know how much time is spent on it. Great videos.
Pretty interesting! We are in SE Indiana and Dad and I are trying to get more nutrients in our farm ground. We have been spreading chicken manure, mixing it with topsoil and other bacteria. Trying to breakdown last years harvest like corn stalks. So far we have been seeing great results. Dad is very intrigued with the biology of it all. Trying not to spray as many fertilizers as well.
Another great video! Very educational. I am at the stage in life where I can enjoy and appreciate “useless knowledge “. Thank you for your perseverance. Keep this type of content coming. I am curious as how the “good stuff” gets blended in the right proportion and consistency.

Mr Digg, a suggestion. Just catching up on tour videos, a neat video helper that is used by Bealy Good Farm. A microphone that attaches to your hat or collar that assists in the audio quality. With the video I just watched, when the camera is turned away from you the audio quality decreases dramatically. With the external audio pickup the audio comes thru in a consistent level. Just an idea if you haven't already incorporated it into your videos. Thanks for your informative and fun videos!
