Welcome to my home town of Brixham Gary! I've lived here for 56 years and have never photographed Shoalstone Pool. Great stuff on your compositions Gary 👍
Gary, you can get umbrellas on a separate stand to protect the camera and to free up your hands for other jobs. In fact, you can get an attachment to fix the brolly to your tripod, so it's always protecting your camera the same way I do.
Excellent scenery, beautiful pictures, I was touched, for whatever reason, by the interaction between the gentleman that approached and you, the sense of camaraderie the simple interaction, wonderful, thanks!!!
This was not my favorite batch of images from you, but your enthusiasm and positive attitude are infectious! I look forward to each and every one of your videos as you are the best in your field! Thanks for taking me along!
Every time I watch your videos it's so inspiring 🙏.. I've been meaning to do a little bit of long exsposure and I'm definitely going to do some this evening.. As I have an idea I want to get right which I've struggled with.. Lovely images oh my goodness you have perfected fine art photography
Cheers for the heads up. Does the water flow over the walls at high tide or does it need to be a very high tide? Or doesn't it flow over at all? Cheers again xx
Gary from the East Coast of Australia to wherever you currently are “ thank you” your videos are always full of excitement and enthusiasm let alone amazing images. It’s so nice to see the excitement on other people’s faces when they land a cracking shot. You inspire so many, keep it up. Looking forward to your next video, plz don’t make us wait too long 😁.
Visiting the UK from Australia 🇦🇺 in January 2025. It's going to be tough with the shorter days, but I will have a good crack. Thanks for sharing this location and your wonderful work. Jack
I'd agree with your pick as favourite , great leading lines ... I've just bought myself a ten stopper to try this kind of thing , inspired by you , thanks 👍
Another great spot: the Sea Point Pools in Cape Town South Africa 🇿🇦 are one of the most scenic public swimming pools on the globe. Facing west directly across the expanse of the Atlantic Ocean, it affords the photographer with amazing golden sunsets, bird life and also dolphins, whales, orcas or shipping shifting past in front of the setting sun. Often an excellent spot for green flash photography. Add to this the beauty of Lions Head, Signal Hill and especially Table Mountain, and your lens is in paradise. #lovecapetown
Gary, I love your fine art photography! Fantasic images!!! They inspire me to get out of my bubble and do some like you have shown! I would love to attend one of your workshops, but Texas USA is a long way from you! 🙂
I can completely understand your excitement about this location. Just the right place for this style of photography. 👍👍👍 I admire the coolness you were displaying when two of those swimmers walked by your camera just as you were taking your long exposure. 😮 … great stuff as always. 😊
Ha ha 😂loved the way you explained yourself then they just walked pass your camera anyway. Those bathing change rooms would of been a great opportunity for a nice shot 🤔
I've seen children less happy on Christmas morning than you at the beginning! Great stuff Gary, and as a swimmer I don't think you looked creepy at all....well maybe a just a little🤣.
The pictures are amazing, as always. But man, the weather is horrible. I'm enjoying the heat and sunshine on the Slovakian-Hungarian border and your video makes me shiver from the cold 😀.
Very nice work indeed, Gary. The woman in her blue costume and yellow cap at 10:30 would make a wonderful surreal composite, with her permission of course. Using normal exposure for her, I was visualising a back shot of her looking at the pool ready to swim. Or perhaps she is swimming across the frame. Several compositions. The long colour exposure blended with her would make a compelling image. Her outfit colours would be a wonderful and sharp contrast, especially the yellow cap. It would still rate as fine art and give a lovely vibrant context to the shots I think. "Swimming into the mist!" Inspiring work and I shared your "like a kid in a candy shop" excitement on arrival. Cheers.
If you get the chance to come down to Cornwall again you should visit Bude - there is a great sea pool there and, being in the west, you get terrific sunsets. Check the tide though as it’s not so good if the tide is out. You want mid to high tide. Actually it’s not far from Heartland Quay. So just over the boarder of Cornwall
Lovely images Gary. I've photographed the pool a few times myself. The rocks at the far end of the pool form leading lines towards the horizon, good on a falling tide. Would love to share some local knowledge if you come down again.
Gary, can I ask what jacket you are wearing? Looks a cool design! Have you made any videos about how best to dress for a photographer going out into the elements? I think it could be interesting if you have some favorite clothing or boots etc. Ohh, great video by the way, how cold is the sea there at this time of year ? Those swimmers have my respect 😂
It is a good spot when you get high tides :) will have to return. Surprised you have not been before given that you have been down the coast in North Devon. you needed an assistant; should have called me as just down the road .
I did photograph a swimming pool at sunrise in Norway last year, but I certainly don't get excited like you have in this video. Hate swimming, which could be the connection.
Great seeing this Gary, I have a map pin for this location and will possibly be down there in January next year, so was interesting to see the location through your perspective
Another awesome vid Gary. Always a treat to see your finished work of art. The link to the Timer/Intervalometer - Camera Remote Control Cable takes you to Canon Photo Paper 😔. I have been looking at them for a while now but can’t decide what type to buy.
Excellent video making the most of the extra high tide and coping with the wet conditions. I know the location well and thankfully one of the swimmers came out of the hut and dived in retrieving my partners Nikon Z6 on the tripod that was on the bottom of the sea bed after she kneed it in the sea by mistake. Tripod and memory card were ok so she recovered the couple of shots she took. Never been back since. Apparently the pool is going to be renovated so there may be nice new painted railings by next year. Did you go to the harbour and find the tidal bell?
I'm a street photographer. I could see an opportunity on your pool photos if you got a swimmer in a bright cap to hold the edge of the pool for part of the exposure. That flash of bright colour against the blue might have been interesting.
I've never seen a pool like that, filled with ocean water. I think there's remnants of one here in San Diego...Ocean Beach (The Plunge). But I'm not sure if it filled with ocean water, it's up higher.
Hi Keith, I removed the post from one of the images. It looked aesthetically pleasing in the main image, so I left it in. It would still work either way.
Maybe im wrong 🤔 I do believe " absence of swimmers" is primary due to the pool being unsafe for bathing while the tide has overwhelmed the confinement wall .. ( There being a serious risk of being swiped out, or pinned against the wall / railings / in a whirlpool etc ) 🧐
The irony of you bemoaning the fact your uncomfortable filming people in their swimsuits under a sign for cctv recording 😊 Who's watching that cctv footage?
"DEEP END" at 11:36 is an incredible image. it could mean many different things to different people. - very emotional
Gary, really admire your style. In my opinion the colour images with the beautiful blue tones were more impressive than the mono conversions
Inspired to visit this place, lived in Devon all my life but never shot here.
Gary, I’m impressed with the number of compositions you found at the swimming pool. Thanks again for sharing.
Many thanks 👍👍

Incredible in colour or without !! The shot with deep end and the last 4 second shot over the edge are beautiful ! what an amazing place !
Absolutely fabulous
Thank you 👍
Great video... Very inspiring, thank you for sharing.
you are a motivation to me. thanks for your content
Fantastic video. Love the enthusiasm. Beautiful photos, but that “Deep End” shot is on of my favourites.
My 2nd favourite but I was very happy with it. Cheers 👍👍

Your enthusiasm is amazing. And your choice of music is spot on. And of course, your images are great.
Thank you very much!
I love the blues in the image at 8:44, just stunning!!
Fantastic shots gary 👏 👍 the Tynemouth outdoor pool is quite effective at high tide
Cheers for the heads up. Does the water flow over the walls at high tide or does it need to be a very high tide? Or doesn't it flow over at all? Cheers again xx
Yeah the water comes over the walls and fills the pool ,but you will still have the top guard rail out of the water 👍

Great times who were there first, Gary. Opportunity knocks and grab it. Always inspiring!
Absolutely awesome Gary as always.
This a is very nice video Gary, amazing photo's from the swimming pool.

Thanks 👍
Love the images and your videos are a true inspiration. Thanks Gary!

Absolutely stunning images Gary, I'd love to try something like this.
Ha ha 😂loved the way you explained yourself then they just walked pass your camera anyway. Those bathing change rooms would of been a great opportunity for a nice shot 🤔
This is some of the most beautiful photography I have seen. Gary thank you for fighting the elements and sharing this with everyone!
What a cool location, its a long way down south but now on my list to visit..
Well worth the wait Gary. Fabulous images.
Cheers Peter
The music captures the mood perfectly. Awesome photos and great video!
Thank you very much! 👍👍
Your videos are always so inspiring! Loved the comp with the zig-zagging rails.
Serenity at its best, better than David Hockney‘s swimming pool images!!!
Great video as always with some fab images, particularly with the one of one set of steps and the blurry writing of Deep End.
I've seen children less happy on Christmas morning than you at the beginning! Great stuff Gary, and as a swimmer I don't think you looked creepy at all....well maybe a just a little🤣.
😁😁 Cheers Mark 👍👍
Great to see you being so enthusiastic. And great shots by the way.

Great job, my congratulations from Spain.👍
In 1 word.... beautiful
Absolutely brilliant! And of course a gentleman 👍 it would be wonderful to see a video of a couple of these printed.
Bravo Gary, love your images on this adventure.
Am in awe of your fine art photography Gary, superb images . 😉👍
Many thanks 👍👍
Wonderful some of my favourite Gary Gough images.
I love your shots from that location. Well done!
Brilliant work and this kind of video shoul become viral. Besutiful art, genuine and original! Congrats!!!
Great images and one place that I'm hoping to visit later in the year.
Cheers Rich 👍👍

Loved this, beautiful photography, and loved watching you work
Great eye Gary! Maybe you should think about including a bit of the wet concrete with the pools of rain into the pictures to add variety.
Some great pictures. Love the video.
Gary, ( the lesson i leaned recently was )
The public are going to make inquiries,, never be without you Business Cards .. 🤗
Thanks Gary, those shots were well worth having to wash the sand and salt out of the tripod 🤣
Terrific work mate. Love the location. Looks such a cool place 😊😊
Thanks a lot! 👍👍
Lovely images Gary. I've photographed the pool a few times myself. The rocks at the far end of the pool form leading lines towards the horizon, good on a falling tide. Would love to share some local knowledge if you come down again.
Amazing video and top draw photography
Thank you so much 😀
So amazing...

Beautiful photograph

First time but I'll definitely go back 👍👍

I'm easily pleased :)
@@GaryGough or perhaps you could see the potential for an image better than me?
Great seeing this Gary, I have a map pin for this location and will possibly be down there in January next year, so was interesting to see the location through your perspective
You need to Scotty. It needs a high-high tide or a just a high tide when the sea is very rough. 👍👍
Another awesome vid Gary. Always a treat to see your finished work of art. The link to the Timer/Intervalometer - Camera Remote Control Cable takes you to Canon Photo Paper 😔. I have been looking at them for a while now but can’t decide what type to buy.
What link is incorrect? What are you looking for? I'll try my best to help if I can
Your work is untouchable!
Cheers Ritchie 👍👍

Thought you might have gone for a swim gary
I hate being cold, i'm a big wuss 😁😁
superb
Epic images Gary. 👍
Awesome pictures and location for fine art. Where is it in England, greeting from the ruhr valley

Did you go to the harbour and find the tidal bell?
Unfortunately, my visit was very brief. Suffice to say, I didn't see the tidal bell. I think I need to return there soon. 👍👍
Lovely! Cheers from Seattle!
Cheers back at you from Huddersfield 😁😁
I'm a street photographer. I could see an opportunity on your pool photos if you got a swimmer in a bright cap to hold the edge of the pool for part of the exposure. That flash of bright colour against the blue might have been interesting.
Great images! Not as good as this but you might also like to try the Marine Lake at Weston Super Mare at high tide. Where is this btw?
I've never seen a pool like that, filled with ocean water. I think there's remnants of one here in San Diego...Ocean Beach (The Plunge). But I'm not sure if it filled with ocean water, it's up higher.
Great stuff!
Thank you 👍👍
Seriously great photos! and this is really not my genre. 👍👍
Excellent pictures..what camera and lense are you using...
What a fantastic place , fine art heaven. Lovely job as always. Did you take any fast exposures of the swimmers heads /caps, you can paint in?
I didn't no. Good idea though 😁
Nice work! Question: Do you find it any concern for camera shake when the tripod is in the waves?
Thank you....
Nice boots ;-)
😂😂😂 They’re good but they’re not Adam Gibbs good 😂😂 hope you’re well pal xx
I wish you were my photo buddy.
Always Amazing !!!!!! Luv What You Do With The Z8 :) :) :) What wide angle lenses do You use ??
Cheers John. I'm using the Nikon NIKKOR Z 14-30mm f/4 S. Cracking glass 👍👍
@@GaryGough ThankYou My Friend !!!! I just got one of those and am quite pleased with it !! The Nikon Glass is Very Very Good :) :) :)
Love the shots, was you tempted to take the post out of the images ? (in post 😆)
Hi Keith, I removed the post from one of the images. It looked aesthetically pleasing in the main image, so I left it in. It would still work either way.
The blue tone in the picture at 8:45 - is this due to the long exposure or do you create this afterwards in photoshop?
Maybe im wrong 🤔
I do believe " absence of swimmers" is primary due to the pool being unsafe for bathing while the tide has overwhelmed the confinement wall ..

Yeah, that’s a fair point Chris 😂😂
I didn’t even notice the CCTV signs until the edit 😁
As long as I was the one being respectful 👍
Nice one Gary. Was that a 10 stop you used?
Yes it was a 10-stop. Damn thing is pretty much glued to my lens 😁😁
Hi Gary what is the name of the place you are at
It's on the blue wall behind me when I'm talking at the end of the film 14:55
Hope that helps 👍👍
Dear Gary Gough : how about lowering camera to ground level ?
Of course, low or high levels are always a good option 👍👍
