    Jason have you used the RA-35 as a direct connect to a repeater? If so how is that configured?

      I do it all the time. I have 7 or 8 built that way. In simplest terms, route the rx audio,cos,ground to a receiver and route tx audio,ptt,ground to a transmitter. Use two cables from the db9 on the ra. Change your settings in simpleusb.conf to duplex with telemetry.

    The best thing i discovered was using a tone squelch setting on my HT. The squelch tail is now gone. And Disable courtesy tones.

    I am going to a Kenwood TKR-750 repeater using the DB25 on the back. I am having a cable made to use it. What I need to know is the configuration of the Hamvoip image to work with the RA-35. Do you know what the configuration is.

      I don't know what the cos/ptt is for that machine. I assume it's active low for both. As for configuration, all changes would be in rpt.conf.
      Set to full duplex with telemetry. All other settings would be user wants...hang time,id,etc.
      There's nothing specific to make the ra35 work with hamvoip. Have it connected to pi but not repeater when going through the first run setup. Select alinco or custom in the options. Audio settings will need to be done after it's up and running. I don't know if the audio from the repeater is flat or emphasized. This too can be setup after it's running.

    Jason.....Can I use this basic set up to build a GMRS NODE?

    • @jgnat1488
      @jgnat1488 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      In theory, yes. I'm not sure if it's allowed for gmrs.

      That said, i just built a gmrs repeater that uses allstar as a controller. It "could be linked" but again, not sure if that's allowed.

    The resizing of the putty window annoyed me, so I made the following change to the following file: /usr/local/sbin/firsttime/adm01-shell.sh
    I commented out the "reset" command and added a setterm command to change the terminal colors.
    $SON
    /usr/bin/setterm --term linux --background black --foreground white --clear all --cursor on
    #reset

    I have allstar node 2223 & 2224 (#'s are examples not my real node #'s), How do I connect 2223 to 2224 so I can talk to my wife? Nodes are in 2 different locations, one is connected to ethernet & the other is on wifi.

    • @jgnat1488
      @jgnat1488 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Are these public or private nodes (registered with allstar or not)? Are they on the same local network?

    • @Moony_Sky
      @Moony_Sky 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jgnat1488 They both are registered public allstar nodes, one is connected to my home internet and one is connected to my phones hotspot as this is the one i want to travel with.

    • @jgnat1488

      The node on home internet is fairly easy to connect to. On home router, port forward 4569 to your node ip. Then you should be able to dial up that node from your other node.
      The one running from a hotspot is normally mor complicated as often you have to run a VPN service as most cellular systems run a multi layer NAT.

      @@jgnat1488 I put them both on my home internet and still cannot get them to connect to each other, They work individually and I can connect to other nodes so I'm not sure what I've done.
