- They all make great reels! Here are a few of my favorites from each brand.
Abu Garcia Revo STX LP Casting Reel: www.tackleware...
Daiwa Tatula Elite Casting Reel: www.tackleware...
Shimano Metanium MGL 150 B Casting Reel: www.tackleware...
Lew's HyperMag Casting Reel: www.tackleware...
Daiwa Elite and Zilion are my favs.
Spinning reels I go with Shimano and for casting daiwa. The zillion 🔥
Zillion is the best reel I’ve ever used at any price
I do the exact opposite. Shimano for casting and Daiwa for spinning.
@Moshenokoji same. All my buddies twin powers have had lots of bearing issues. No issues with my certates after 5 years. I'd almost compare certates against stellas.....
Shimano and Daiwa hold up the longest for me. Been a die hard bass angler over 50 years. I’d like to try a Bates. CNC machined frame from a solid block of aluminum. They’re headquartered 16 miles from my home but I looked up their address and it’s the Celina post office. I think they just get shipped here from China with no assembly done here. They claim to be a Texas company.
Definitely interested in Bates I’ve seen them at Icast and they feel great!
Shimano or Daiwa only. The performance and longevity will outlast other brands
I’ve had some lews for 10 years and they still work great . And I fish at least once a week . Or more
I was going to say the same thing.
I haven't heard this from anyone but Shimano or Daiwa fanboys
The curado MGL 150 is so good it has to be affecting Metanium sales lol
Daiwa Tatula SVTW150H
I put my Excense 22 Dc or Conquest 200 Dc against any Baitcaster, Fresh or saltwater, Texas rig worm to 3ounce glide bait. The MGl spools are crazy in both
Great reels!
Love my shimano curados. Got the mgl 150 a bunch of k’s and a mgl 70 did not care for the dc at all got rid of both the ones I had. I like diawa tatula, but just for running 8-10 lb line I think they cast a lighter lure with lighter line a bit better than the curados. Have a bunch of the gen 4 abu revos everything from the s to the stx and even a rocket. Also use a beast 40 for musky with 80# braid. Like the drag on the beast 40 with a little smaller frame size for my hands I can still palm the reel, not like a tranx 400 or 500 too big a reel for my hand. Like diawa tatula for braided line, or I really like my lews tournament pro for casting braid with my 7’4” heavy rod. I would like to try the new lews custom pro the orange reel, it has a very similar breaking system to the tatula line of reels. But hopefully won’t feel clunky like the tatulas. I think every reel brand has their pros and cons. It’s just a matter of personal preference and performance needs. I’m a bit of a gear junky and love putting together rod reel combos for different techniques and how I like to fish each technique.
Sounds like you’re like me and wanna try it all! So many good reels to choose from.
A question you should ask is who actually makes their own reels in their own factories. I've watched some TH-cam videos where parts are interchangeable between brands because they are made in some OEM factory in Koriea.
Shimano and Daiwa do.
I know. That's why those are the only reels I buy.
Different reels for different applications! In my opinion the Shimano Sedona is the best budget spinning reel out there! That said, I have both Shimano and Daiwa casting reels, a couple of 13’s and a few Kastkings… my big glide and swim baits reels are Shimano Cardiffs and an Okuma Citrix 364. All have their place 🏄🏼♂️🎣
I just bought the kastking megajaws elite$130 and out of curiosity looked up Daiwa and Shimano reels that had the same features, they start at like $400.
Like you, I have all four brands as well as others. The Daiwa reels haven't lasted. The Lews do get rough sounding. Abu aren't as smooth as the Daiwas and Shimanos. I have 7 curado reels in different models including the DC versions. My favorite out of all are the Shimano SLX A. $99.00 ea. I've had 2 for around 4 years and catching hybrids and stripers as well as spots and large mouths. They are still as smooth as the first time I used them.
Nice, that’s similar to my experience over the years.
Freshwater fishing doesn’t count here, you’ll never melt a drag. The saltwater fishermen will tell the true tale. Shamano!
I have at least one of each of these brands and they have all been great reels but lately I really like my Lew’s Super Duty 300’s , Tatula and SLX DC but I bought an Abu Garcia Black Max years ago and put Boca bearings in it and that thing is still going like it is brand new it’s crazy
I have the lews 300 Super duty as well. Underrated
Heard it’s a beast!
I’ve fished some of the SLX stuff and it’s solid!
I LOVE MY ABU REVO STX 5 BUT MY NEW DIAWA ZILLION IT MY FAVORITE FAVORITE!
Need to try that zillion!
@TylerBrinks the best fken reel in the world hands down!!! Better then the higher priced reels!! 100%
I agree on the zillion I buy mine from japan a lot cheaper
Shimano palms better but you can’t beat daiwas lightweight reels. Always have both
Can't go wrong with made in Japan , which are mostly higher end items.
Honestly, for the price the lews reels are great
They cast nicely
I do just fine with my Piscifun reels. It's a sport/hobby for most of us, not a profession.
They are really good reels. I have the Alloy M and my favorite is the Alijos 300. It’s the best Swimbait reel on the market at $99
@@RyanSmith-fb8rf I need to get a Alijos 300 or 400 for musky/pike. I hear they are great for the price also.
If they work for ya that’s great. Haven’t used any of their stuff yet
Shimano Bantam is a brick house.
Love them! Have 5 of them
⬆️ ⬆️ ⬆️ ⬆️ ⬆️
Fresh water - Shimano
Salt water - Diawa
Lews/Abu - Don’t waste ur money 🤣
Shimano sucks..Lew's elite ..pro ti..Hypermag great, I'm not into cheap reels..The lew's will give diawa steez a run for the money, what makes Diawa steez weak, zero adjuster..Word to the wise, adjuster all steez....Zillon..tatula, anything zero adjuster, speaking from experience..As long you don't get spool side to side play...Abu garcia mgx is a great reel, but what sucks about Abu garcia is customer service it sucks..
Any Shimano less than $300 are junk. Yes, Curado, Vanford junk! Daiwa …and don’t over look Abu Garcia Revo and Zenon
Daiwa. Then shimano. If were moving out of bass fishing reels add seigler. And maybe okuma makaira for offshore
