I am from Holland. Last week I have had my matril valve repair. Doing great at the moment. I want to thank Adam for this great channel because it helped me a lot during my preparation for the operation. Thank you!

I’m 63 years old. I had OHS in April of 2022. I had my aortic valve replaced due to a 5mm hole in one of the leaflets due to endocarditis. Bicuspid valve originally. I had an AtriClip installed. I’m only taking one baby aspirin daily. No problems yet. 🙏🏻🤞🏽

Thank you for additional information tonight. I’ve had at least 5 AFib events that resulted in 4 cardio versions and one TEE. My CHAD-VAS score is 3. I’ve also had 2 ablations. I have other challenges: COPD + oxygen resulting from severe Covid, severe rheumatoid arthritis, loin pain hematuria syndrome (I’m nearly aged out of that disease) or and finally an adverse reaction Yao Eoquis resulting on bleeding on my arms, hands, neck. I Aldo’s had a bad fall on my face in Feb and eloquent working well, resulting in 3 hematomas, broken orbital bone, broken rib, loss of skin on my forearm that weeks to grow back and heal. Watchman is scheduled to be placed in Nov. 14.I’m guessing scared to have the procedure. I’m trusting your words that we’re headed in the right direction. I’m a cert compliant patient but Worry about continued AFib or development of heart. I understand there will be close monitoring after the Watchman surgery. Any comment or concerns? I have a fantastic Electro Physio Cardiologist that I trust it I’m concerned about not getting results I’m hoping for. Thank you for sharing your thoughts.

Dr. Gerdisch did my aortic valve in July, I had some Afib in the past so he recommended the Maze procedure, which includes closing the left atrium. Time will tell if it worked, as I had some complications, including continuing bradycardia, but much of my heart rhythm issues following surgery have improved dramatically. I'm 2 months out, so hopefully with more healing time even the brady will clear up.

Great to hear that Dr. Gerdisch and his team helped you McGragor! We are glad to hear the heart rhythm issues are doing better after the complications!

My surgeon closed my Left Atrial Appendage during my Mitral Valve repair. He told me he does that in all surgeries. From what Dr. Gerdisch states, there seems to be a lot of upside for doing just that. Is there any downside?

Great question. You would want to discuss this with your medical team. But, we are not aware of any downsides from an AtriClip procedure.
