    Of all the things you've mentioned I'm envious that you got taught by Angela Duckworth. To have her as a professor would be a dream!

    Grad of a T25 program - the social exhaustion, FOMO, optimization fatigue and "holy fvck I can't afford to hang out with you" is real - it also made it harder that I had my first kid in my second year and then interned at a startup second year when everyone was having fun when everyone already bagged their post-grad job haha
    That all being said. Worth it. Game changer for my career

    In my opinion, the true value of obtaining an MBA, especially from Wharton, lies in the NAME.

      yup agreed so even when i say the career resources aren't great having a top mba on your resume still helps a lot with recruiting

    Have you spoken about your post-MBA plans? Will you keep working on your own business? Your finance content would tie in well with an education business like Crimson Education especially as IB/PE/VC recruiting becomes increasingly front loaded every year.

    This might be a video topic for another day, but did any of the bad/ugly side detract from what you were hoping to get from the MBA?
    For example, you mentioned that one of the reasons you wanted to go to school was to network - did you ever find someone who you thought was perfect to network with, but was an absolute twatarse as a person, either because they overstepped boundaries, were self-centred because of wealth, etc?
    Also, on that topic, did the idea of networking ever get in the way of you developing friendships where you felt you would have too many friends to juggle or anything like that? I know it sounds cut-throat and Terminator-like, like you're culling friends on Facebook lol, but did you ever have to reflect and reassess if a friendship was worth pursuing based on your initial goals of networking, or was it more go with the flow, see-what-happens kind of deal?

    • @rareliquid
      @rareliquid  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      hey barry! the bad / ugly stuff never took away too much from my experience because i steered clear from the bad apples and generally focused on the positives. also felt fortunate to not have to deal with recruiting since i had rareliquid which added different problems but good ones.
      re friendships i think they just naturally formed or fell off vs. more calculatively thinking about them. but i do think in an mba setting when you hear someone's background it does affect your first impression of them. but after that it's all about personality and how you get along

      long story but tldr at the end of 2020 i had just closed down my first business which i worked on for 2 years after banking. felt like i needed a career restart so applied to business schools in jan 2021 and while waiting for results started rareliquid which went better than expected and worked on it full time for a year (deferred wharton for personal reasons). then started school in 2022 not sure if i was going to do it but (1) really liked the people i met (2) saw a lot of business opportunities i could combine with rareliquid to earn multiples back the investment made into the mba through new businesses / resources / connections
