The Betstco FH-EFG125 medium duty flail mower upgraded with heavy flail hammers. (part 1)

I've been using the Betstco FH-EFG125 medium duty flail mower for just over a year now. Most of my work is centered around clearing underbrush and mowing heavily overgrown fields. While this flail has been fantastic and has certainly paid for itself, I've not been fully satisfied with the hammers on the flail. They tend to break frequently and don't do a really good job of mulching tree stems over about 1.5" additionally, if you try to mow heavy Bahia grass that is over about 6 inches tall, and I frequently encounter this stuff over a foot deep and very thick, the 1 lb hammers just ball up in it and bog down the mower. I decided to upgrade the mower with some new 1.5 lb hammers vs the original 1 lb hammers and see what effect this had.

You. Mentioned the lighter hammers balling up in heavy grass…how did the heavier ones do…?
We have a ton of brush annd tree overhang and pampa grass taking over…getting ready to pull the trigger on a flail mower….

Do you have it on the skids or do you have it tilted some to where the roller is the main thing on the ground? Trying to get mine set up.

Where did u get your hammers from? Betstco? I assume they r for the bigger mowers. I had the EFG-135 on the back of John Deere 1025r now 2025r. I wanted to do the same thing a yr ago but went with grass blades

Have you reached the 50 hour maintenance time yet? Do you have a list of filter part numbers? Fluid specs?

Hi Jeramy! I am at 170 hrs today. I run several hours 4 or 5 days a week clearing brush for customers. I believe there is a list of part numbers on the Branson Compact Tractor facebook group. I just went into my dealer and bought the filters there and I always use either O'Reillys Premium Tractor fluid or Tractor Supply Premium Tractor fluid. Run those in both of my tractors and no problems at all.

I’ve broken a bunch of the hammers that came with my 125. I ordered the forged ones from them, but looking at easier to obtain options. This looks Ike maybe a winner.
