I entered the uniquely beautiful sound-world of Scriabin some 30 years ago and it changed my entire consciousness. Brilliant lecture!👍

Terrific, I have been playing the early preludes and etudes for 40 years now for myself. You said everything I feel in my soul when I play them. I remember I thought maybe I was playing some too slow and got the Horowitz plays Scriabin album, he was playing some even slower than me, more rubato than me. I understood how to fly. I play that late prelude too, Op 74? I think, the one says Lent, vague. There is such pathos in those chords, so simple, so amazing. I didn't know about volando, but I have studied Scriabin and have the same feelings as you, such a genius, too far ahead of his time. My edition has some cities for the early ones, Moscow 1889. I would stare at that as I finished a prelude and think about him writing it with a fountain pen they had back then, just ink spots on paper.

I just loved the music of Bach, Beethoven, Brahms and Scriabin. Now I see that I followed a path of strong STRUCTURE music. Music that has something to say. And Scriabin's music is beauty in his pure form. Looks like alien's music sometimes. Just love the 2nd and 3rd sonatas, and have goosebumps with the 8th. Someday maybe I'll sell my soul to play these masterpieces.

I saw it until the end. Thank you very much, so much depth and vision.. As a piano teacher and player I adore Scriabin many years allready but it is hard to find fitting words to describe this celestial being. And you found many..

I really wish I could talk to you, even sit at a piano together. I am American but I discovered Scriabin on my own and was fascinated. First thing I heard was the 5th sonata Horowitz, I was stunned like I had been hit. So many preludes are not so difficult. I played most of Op 11 and many more, a few etudes. I love that Bb minor etude you play at the beginning. Something very special about that one. Many of his works are special. Anyway thank you for this video, we come from different worlds but you understand Scriabin like I do. Look at Op 2 No 2 prelude, so simple and beautiful, so early. But already in the middle he does polyphony, which he will do much more later. In the early preludes you get a glimpse of what is to come. As you play them in sequence it is as if you are living the music with him. It makes him different because we have the slow progression over time how the harmony and rhythm change over time. I don't know, I have been playing them for 40 years so maybe I am biased.

Can anyone recommend a good text to understand Scriabin’s harmonic language?
