    Welcome back to ProGuitarShop and ToneReport.com. Today we're invoking the Memory analog delay from Xvive. The W3 Memory pays tribute to the original Deluxe Memory Man, and the original Memory Man designer Howard Davis rebuilt the Memory with his groundbreaking circuit as the basis. At the core of the Memory is two new Xvive reproductions of the famed MN3005 bucket-brigade chips that gave the original its memorable warmth and murkiness. These two chips offer 600 milliseconds of delay time, and just like any good analog delay, the length of the delay time slightly alters the sonic character of the repeats. The Memory's The Drive knob is allows you to push the incoming signal slightly for a percussive, mushier repeats or back it off for better clarity. Just like the Deluxe Memory Man, the Memory's modulation section is second-to-none and features a wide-ranging Depth and Speed control, as well as an individual footswitch to engage it, which is a feature sorely missing from the original unit. An expression jack on the side lets you govern the Delay Time knob in real time for quick changes without having to bend down, and the Memory also features stereo outs for a dreamier analog delay experience.

    Sounds like something you'd hear on an inspirational VHS tape.

    The intro did really remind me of the DMM. Been using two of them for years and always looking for a possible replacement if they break down permanently. This might be it...must try it some time!

    Man I wish I had gotten one when they were selling for $70- anyone got an opinion (HA!) on how these compare to the big box deluxe memory man reissues? My favorite version was the one with external 24v adapter. Also- do these have a charge pump internally to run the preamp at high voltage (cant remember if its 18v or 15v) and the mn3005 at 15v like the originals?

    I have this pedal laying around for almost a year now. I kinda bought it for fun but I never really got the idea of it untill now. I guess sometimes you have to see someone using and explaining a pedal in order for it to make sense. I can deffinatly see this becoming my go to pedal for those early U2 sounds that I never seem to get out of my other delay pedals... Yes I am one of those guys that has 20-something pedals laying around but end up only putting a dirtbox and a reverb on a pedalboard when playing anywhere other then the grand bedroom mainstage.

    Just picked one of these up cheap...almost for the cost of the chips alone (they're $22 each from Small Bear + shipping) so totally worth the cost. Hope to A/B against my 90s big box RI DMMs soon.

    I have a DMM with MN3005 and got this pedal to take on the road, but I returned it because the chips have grindy white noise riding along on the repeats independent of pitch/attack. Really annoying. Shame because I was really loving the concept.

      I was looking to buy this pedal as its not expensive and is packed with featuresfor an analog delay but I've read some saying the same thing and I dislike hissing pedals or those who have white noise. Thank you! I will be looking at the DOD Rubberneck or maybe the EHX Memory Boy Deluxe

    They should have used a tap tempo feature for setting the tempo. The expression pedal has a wah effect.

    • @Jacob-Laeby
      @Jacob-Laeby 5 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      I don't think you understand how analog delay works. Also that would be a pitch wammy effect, not a wah effect.

      The MN3005 chip sounds pretty unique and definitely not like every other analog delay out there, not to mention the modulation options and the drive knob. It's pretty unique.

      Ya...Phase 90 is awesome because it has ONE knob... However, this thing sounds pretty good in the demo and is really not very expensive (under $100)...be almost worth the gamble.
