Nice video! I broke down and ordered a Trophyline saddle last Friday and it was at my door on Monday. Hoping to try it out today, and then I will need to assess my filming style to see what changes I need to make. I don’t expect to become a saddle hunter exclusively since we have ladder stands and hang-ons up on our farm, but this will just be another tool I can use for public land hunts.

Yeah, saddle hunting is very much just another tool and I know you will like the trophyline saddle. Filming is different with a saddle, as I learned. Good luck. I do hunt from the ground a lot with a ghillie. Rather than haul a tripod I will use this camera arm at ground level and use the tree as cover. Similar to saddle hunting. Have fun and let me know if you have any questions with your trophyline saddle!

Got my camera arm in today, looks great, works great, and great quality. But takes some time getting used to that ocb strap.

Much quieter than the Ratchet and achieves the same tightness. Good Luck and let me know if you have any questions.

I use a hang on stand, but this should work for me still, wouldn't it ? Planning to use a fluid head with a cheap, lightweight Sony model HDRCX405 1080p camcorder, which only weighs about 7 ounces i think....

Yes it will work the same. Many treestand arms have only to sections in the arm. Saddle hunting seems to require some smaller arm sections to maneuver between you and the tree or wrap the tree. This arm has 3 smaller sections to do this. This is the main difference. Overall length may be slightly shorter as well compared to other arms on the market. Check this before you make a decision! I know of a few hunters using this arm in a treestand. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Which fluid head and camera do you use? Thanks

My fluid head is older and similar to this one. amzn.to/3dVRwK4 Otherwise there are a few less expensive heads you can use also available on Amazon.

What is the name of the bracket that you are attaching the base to the arm? The black one right above the standoff that has them connected by the bolt.

The arm itself is connected to the base with a bolt - yes. This joint is a piece of C channel tig welded to the vertical base to ensure a strong connection. Hope this helps!
