Ciao! I am an American who now lives in Castellammare del Golfo, Sicily for 6 months of the year each year. When I first came to Sicily I paid A LOT more for an apartment than I do now. I made friends with the owners of my favorite bar and we are now like family. Once you make friends it is much easier to save on car rentals, apartments, etc. I will be returning to CdG in 3 weeks and my apartment will be upstairs from my friend's brother in law for a fraction of the price normally paid for the summer season. And they found me a private car to rent for much less as well! The Sicilian people are so warm and friendly and really do love to help people that have come to visit their beautiful island. Grazie, Paul
@@davandj Well, my friend's bar is Bar Tipicamente. It is located right in the center or the Quattro Conti. Gelateria Fernaci is very good and I like the Ristorante Le Grazie for pizza. But to me everything is great! Haha
@paulfreitag7772 Hi Paul! You also commented in one of our videos. We agree, once you make friends they go out of their way to help. We are neighbors, moved to Balestrate! We are here now, also. My husband and I don’t have a car. So if you want to come see Balestrate, we would love to meet up and talk!

@@davandj O you don't have to tell me, but I am glad you did. Their isn't anyplace better, or even close to it really, except in the rest of Italy naturally. Italy is Food Heaven, amongst other things as well.
Ciao , I am currently in India ... Planning to pursue my Masters and settle in Italy. Your Videos are helpful , helping me to plan accordingly. Thank You for that.
That's a great question! It'll depend on where you land as East and West aren't very well connected and if you're not driving it'll take you a half day just to cross to the other side. If you land in Catania, I would do a day trip to Taormina from there to check out the Greek theatre and the town (a must!). Then depends on what you're into, if you are after beaches Siracusa would be a great choice. The City itself is beautiful and the nearby San Lorenzo, Calamosche and Vendicari beaches are gorgeous. And if you want to swap things up while in Siracusa you can do day trips to nearby Noto, Marzamemi or Scicli. (Esp if you're into architecture) If you land in Palermo, you could use Palermo as a base and from there move to Riserva dello Zingaro for natural beauty and definitely do a day trip to the beach town of Cefalù. Mondello beach near Palermo is very nice, if you're more into history and culture from there is easy to reach the Greek Temples in Agrigento or Selinunte :) We will do some videos about itineraries both for East and West Sicily, it's quite a big island! Lots to cover :)
We are from the US. Hubs getting his dual citizenship. We have found that if you try to talk Italian they will be more open. We have made several friends in the town we moved to.
Hahaha a good amount but never as much as pasta! it was the first item that came to my mind in the car after groceries cause it was almost 3x than in Spain 😂😂
Hi there, people are generally welcoming and open minded, I think it's more about the individual and how he integrates in the society rather than the ethnicity
Hi there! I'm not sure about foreigners but if the house where u stay is your only home and is where you live taxes are low. Gun laws are normal, you need a license if you need a gun for hunting and to prove that you're physically and psychologically fit to own one for self defense as it should be. For taxes it'll depend on many factors and are country specific might wanna check with an accountant at home!
Your piercing made me go away after 10 sec. I f that's what you wanted you succeeded 👍 Of course you go and ghost my comment, but I hope it sticks a little bit. Have a nice day.
That's a great point!! Sicily is incredibly safe and beautiful like the rest of Italy. If I had to choose between walking alone at night in downtown Palermo vs LA, San Francisco or New York I would choose Palermo in a heartbeat, way way safer!

Hi there, yes all my friends at least have no issue whatsoever with ethnicities and I'm sure it wouldn't be an issue for you and your wifey!!
Sicily is not Europe
