It is. You should avoid acrylic in general it cracks too easily, never had oil paint crack even after 6+ months

Is it better to use a sharpie paint marker?
try using a oil sharpie marker it works way better and you can get them from walmart

Not sure if this question makes sense.
You need to add more layers of paint or use opaque paint
