  • What did you do during Covid? We put together a 33,600 piece Wildlife puzzle from Educa. It took us approx 5 months (mostly weekends). The puzzle came in a box with 10 separate bags, so it really was 10, roughly 3,360 piece puzzles. 225 inches x 62 inches! We glued each section with puzzle glue. We decided not to glue the entire puzzle together in case we move someday, we can disassemble the 10 sections and take it with us.
We listened to Home Free (our "Puzzle Music"), check them out!
We were trying to find a good way to frame the puzzle, but not spend a stupid amount of money doing so. We decided on using baseboard from a home improvement store with some corner pieces as well. We spray painted the board and corners black as you'll see in the video. We glued 2" heavy ribbon to the back of each section so that we could basically hang the sections distributing the weight of each section on the ribbon. The end pieces had 2 strips of ribbon, 1 closer to the outer edge, but not all the way to leave a flatter section for us to overlap the baseboard on the sides. We used some colored, flat thumbtack/push pins that you really can't see unless you are specifically looking for them to keep the puzzle flat against the wall to prevent bowing. This is our largest puzzle by far, we've done a 9,000 piece and 19,000 piece, both hanging on walls as well. It is inexpensive art.
We have one more big puzzle to do before we throw in the towel. A 19,000 piece Sistine Chapel puzzle. Our intention is to mount it, somehow, to our 20+ foot ceiling in our front room. (I'm going to hire a couple people to do the install) It was a fun way to spend, quite a lot, of family time during Covid, but the kids are certainly happy the puzzle is finished!
Hope you enjoy and check out our food recipes while your here!

Wonder how this is holding up after a few years? I am ready to mount an 18,000 piece puzzle and your method seems like one of the easier more manageable ways to get it done!

That looks awesome. I want to do this puzzle but have no room for it. I have nearly completed a 24000 puzzle called "LIFE" and just have enough room for that.
Be careful with the sun shining on the puzzle as in time it will fade.

I have never seen this done before. And you went the extra mile by painting it.

Is there a video that shows how you prepped each of the sections prior to mounting? Just got a 24000 piece and looking for ideas for how to mount it when I'm done (probably in 300 years or so LOL)

Hello! Unfortunately, we do not have a video for that, but what we did was fairly simple. After completing each section, we glued the front side with puzzle glue. On the back we used 2 inch ribbon and hot glued a strip from bottom to top, leaving a few inches at the top. We nailed the ribbon into the wall and when we were done we just cut off the excess. Good luck on your puzzle!
