They definitely lack details and I've noticed a size difference between the old to the new. I do wish that they could come up with newer designs or maybe bring back some of the most loved old schleich!
Don’t get me wrong, I’m obsessed and will always collect canines and felines from them. But nothing beats when I first started mass collecting regularly with the older larger scale dogs. Like the famous husky family. If they brought quality of those models back, more collectors would probably return.
As a Schleich and Breyer collector myself, I can agree. I prefer Breyer because the horses are a lot more realistic but I still think Schleich is good too. I think (Like you said) Schleich needs to put more effort in their models, it's not only kids collecting these horses but there are adults collecting them as well.
Definitely, I don't collect many Breyer but I've seen them and they have so much more detail Schleich doesn't. They have the details that collectors love as well as serving as a good 'toy' for kids, therefore, making both sides happy.
My sister collected schleich then she went off of them and started buying breyers I like schleich but they really do need to try better on newer models coming out. Yes breyers are more expensive. But are way bigger and better quality.
I am a avid schliech collector. Upon a few years ago I collected all schliech. Now, I only collect older schliech because of there nicer, better quality material, paint, and posture. The time that the painters and producers spend on them is declining quickly. The product is the same price and is getting smaller and sloppier. I am now only collecting new schliech with a special meaning. (The terrier you showed with the brown spots, because of how it resembles my dog, and horses that are at my barn.) I like the old schliech so much more. The new material that they are using is so terrible. Like the black shire horse with the wobbly legs. It’s ridiculous. Don’t even talk about the new cheetah cub, with the cartoony eyes. I literally was in awe, and had to look to make sure it was schliech!! Like what has it come to?! I have over 200 horse models, and around 150 schliech wildlife/dogs/farm animals, and eBay is my new best friend for schliech. I also have a few collectas, they have a much better paint job, but the materials are just like schliech with the wobbly legs.
I really like your input, I definitely agree how sloppy and lazy Schleich has gotten, it's hard to recognize what they make now compared to their old stuff. I hope it gets better, but honestly, Schleich has dug their own grave, if they don't fix the issue the company will start to lose money... Really like your insights, thanks for sharing!
I'm glad that others are finally coming to their senses and realize that the newer Schleich horses and animals in general aren't as good as they used to be. There are some newer magazine exclusives that look better than the regular runs, but unfortunately not all. What makes it worse is that they've butchered some of the models that Da Vinci Creations himself designed, and he's good at designing models (he designs resins too). Schleich used to market to children too back when the models were realistic, but then Lego bought Schleich and as soon as that happened I knew the quality would go down
That really explains a lot of what's going on. It's so sad to see such an amazing company go into a downfall. I've definitely felt for a while now that something had to have happened for Schleich to be this way.

I used to love Schleich horses, around 4-5 years ago was when I bought the most. I haven’t even seen the newer ones, it makes me sad they’re going down hill.

I've accidentally become a Safari and Schleich collector, and I agree with every single point you made. Also the 'accidental' part is because I got like- a BUNCH of safari and schleich stuff (mostly of dinosaurs and later branched out) when I was younger. And I of course still hoard all of those today. Why? Because I'm attached to my childhood things even if I have no interest in touching them. But yeah half of the stuff I hoard is schleich and Safari stuff and honestly looking at those to now "newer" old models with six year old paint jobs just- hurt personally. TLDR: Quality over quantity >>> whatever Schleich's doing
Yeah, I agree. It really just hurts to see something that used to be so good to become so bad. It really is quality over quantity if the company wants to keep their reputation, but I think Schleich has already destroyed it. I, too, keep some of my childhood things but have no intent on playing with them anytime soon, lol.
Now I prefer Papo and Collecta, but in all the stores I go to there are only Schleich. So I almost only buy online or second-hand. And I totally agree for the photos, I have to go see them in real life because they don't look like the photos at all and are much less realistic, they have almost no more shades of color, the positions are almost all the same, ect. Despite this I still buy some Schleich that I find good, such as the baby rhino or hippo for example.
I collect model horses, but it's there's been the exact same issue with Schleich horses recently. You can't even tell what breed they're supposed to be anymore. At least with Collecta, you can tell if it's a particular breed because an actual sculptor does the molds. With Schleich, who cares. They're all horses(at least, according to Schleich). I've stopped collecting Schleich horses because of this, but I love the new Collecta models. Also, Collecta's paintjobs(at leas ton their horses), have improved so much lately.
I definitely agree with you. Schleich really couldn't care less now what their models look like. Collecta is definitely better. The horses are much better, and you can actually see lots of detail. The Collecta dogs are also very nice, I definitely feel like Collecta is improving so much in their models.
I totally get it. I've definitely noticed it since I got back into collecting Schleich seriously. But, I still prefer them above other brands tbh Overall, I'm mostly collecting them nowadays because of the books I'm writing which highly focus on animals, and I like having little models of my characters
Same, I absolutely adore having models of my characters. But also yeah, despite Schleich still dropping in quality I usually still buy their models anyway. Mostly the retired ones.

I so agree with you I am also a Schleich collector and the other brands such as MOJO and Safari LTD used to not be as good as schleich but now that schleich is making newer models they are just as ok

Not to be rude or anything but would you like it if I said that your drawings are bad noses were too big they’re in her eye and all that that wouldn’t be nice. You would think but I try my best don’t go to other companies and be really rude. I would just think before going to say it.

This is an occurring problem schleich collectors have, I just decided to put it out there. I still collect schleich this is no hate, it is the honest truth. Also, in the description, it literally says the drawings aren't mine. They were bought off of Etsy from a seller. I put credits and everything in the description. Even if the drawings were mine or not, constructive criticism is good. But leaving a hurtful comment to deliberately hurt someone for no real reason isn't good constructive criticism at all. How about thinking, reading, and listening before making a comment that gives no clearance whatsoever. I believe everyone should voice an opinion. Everyone may not always agree with each other, and that's fine. And I do see where you're coming from with saying that it could be seen as rude, but just leave a good counterargument instead of writing a comment out of spite.
This is why I now own more mojo, papo, Safari ltd, collecta, etc, now 😂 I really do love the old models of schleich, but I agree that the new ones are trash.
