- ‘Wildlife, beaches, friendly people, Serengeti, Ngorongoro, Mt Kilimanjaro, Zanzibar Archipelago - Tanzania has all these and more wrapped up in one adventurous, welcoming package.’ Lonely Planet
The current view of tourism in Tanzania is the one depicted above, but there is one more thing that makes Tanzania one of the top destinations.
...Cultural Tourism
Here is why you should consider Tanzania as a destination for African cultural tours and experiences.
When we talk about Cultural Tourism you probably think of the Massai people, as they are currently the famous ethnic group, when it comes to cultural tourism. Yes, the massai are one of the ethnic groups that have kept their traditions and have managed to co-exist with the wild, their way of life gives visitors such a unique perspective and eye-opening experience.
But an interesting fact is that Tanzania is home to more than 120 ethnic groups. Each group with unique language, culture, norms, and history.
One of the fascinating ethnic groups is The Hadza people.
‘The Hadza are a modern hunter-gatherer people living in northern Tanzania. They are considered one of the last hunter-gatherer tribes in Africa with approximately 1,300 tribe members.’ National Geographic
The Hadza people allow visitors(tourists and researchers) from all over the world to have a real-life and immersive experience of how it was when we(Homo Sapiens) were hunters and gatherers.
