I was Wrong about the 25 IONIQ 5...So I Leased One!

- In previous videos I talked a lot about the fact that I never buy first year production cars, particularly those built in a new factory with a new workforce! However, I was wrong...so I leased one and absolutely love the quality of the car. Also, I take the IONIQ Guy for his first ride in a 25 IONIQ 5.
Took delivery of a '25 Limited yesterday and will be giving my '22 SEL to my daughter. The depreciation on the 22 was so sharp, it was worth it to see her in a newer car. No regrets. Love the new I5 and all the improvements (that I now have to adjust to,) and Corbin was right- it's quieter than the older ones, and they're very quiet! Got 2 charger adaptors, an improved level one charger and a surprise 1st aid kit! all free. My hearing is lousy, too, btw. 🙉
Since you know what’s going on with these things, what’s the failure rate you’ve experienced on the ICCU units? Every day somebody is posting about another one failing. It makes me not have much faith in my car to take a trip. Some context would be nice. Is it like one percent or 5% or 10% or whatever or failing? You might do a video about that issue.
@@alanbuck9237 I can only report on mine and one other I5, and neither of us is unhappy.
I got a smoking deal on a 13 month lease on my ‘24 in December. When it’s up or before I’m planning to return it for a ‘25. I thought the 13 month lease was perfect for my situation. I wanted to wait for the ‘26s or at least some reviews on how the ‘25 year production. So thanks Electric Principal. I’m so happy to hear this.
🇬🇧 here, we've had our 2025 RWD for 2 weeks now, first EV. It’s brilliant, and as a bonus the wife loves it too!
They may have had extra quality checks to get the new plant off to a good start.
My 09 Fit w/manual transmission was totaled, and I've had a hell of a time finding something to get. I found it with 80000km, and I jumped for it, as it was a manual and low mileage.
I've been looking around, and there are very few options I feel, and I'm being pushed towards the Elantra N or Golf GTI. I would like to go EV, but I require:
1. A car that has range. My work is 360km away, and most cheaper EVs (and even some more costly EVs like the EV6) do not offer
2. A car that is about driving, over tech and comfort. The 5N interests me, but not for $80000
3. Something that doesn't cost $60000+
The standard Ioniq 5 looks nice...but a sort of nice for a 60 year old. In short, it looks like an "old man" car. The colors (including the wheel well trim) and the interior are just not my thing. I'm not saying this to be demeaning, it just doesn't interest me. I'm also concerned about how it will drive, as it isn't a performance vehicle...but $60000, to me, should mean something enjoyable.
Honestly, this is the first time I've experienced having zero interest in new vehicles (yet used vehicles are far too costly, or high mileage). I want a hatchback, but everything is an SUV. I want fun, but everything fun is $80000 or more.
While I would like to go for an EV, there seems go be nothing that fits my needs.
Um… please don't resort to "clickbait." You were NOT wrong about the '25 Ioniq 5! You were wrong in your resolve not to buy a first-year production car, but you were NOT wrong about the car! It's great. The new benchmark. I have NO buyer's remorse with my '24 Limited AWD model, but I will definitely be recommending Ioniq 5 to anyone looking to buy an EV. Indeed, my eldest daughter just bought a used one. I'd like to think that perhaps her ol' man inspired her…?
Yup I am not clicking on his videos anymore
We are certainly splitting hairs. It’s not just the first year production car. It’s a first year production in new factory. I was wrong that there would be too many problems with the car. Thanks for watching the channel.
CORBIN!!!! 🎉🎉🎉
As a lover of Ford products I was considering a Mach-E for an EV lease. However the Ioniq 5 is just in a league of its own! Test drove a 24 Mach-E and a 24 Ioniq 5. The Hyundai was a much better car. Hyundai is the EV to get!!!
I leased a '24 about four months ago. I just broke the 400 mile mark. 😎
In two years I'll lease '26 or '27. By then they will probably have wings. 😆
I'd love to see a video on the HDA2 and how it works/in operation, as the '25 Limited is one of the vehicles under consideration as my first ev!
Congrats on the '25!! I'm very tempted..
If they fixed the awful turning radius, I’d buy one today!
I have an Ioniq6. Agreed. Terrible turning radius, but I still ❤ it. One year now.
Another great video 👍👍
Thank you so much for watching the channel!
I'm jealous - the cars are taking FOREVER to make it to WA state. What color did you get? Your exterior video shows a Digital Teal, but your interior is the Gray interior which is not offered with the Teal exterior.
I got the last one we had in the first shipment. It’s black.
The weather was bad when I made the video so I just put in some shots of a 25 because I thought you might get tired of looking at my mug.
Would have loved the '25 but we got a great deal on a '24 and are happy with it. The 2 years of free charging isn't really worth it in this area, though; the EA chargers here are always booked.
That’s good because the purpose of free charging is not to replace routine charging.
Enjoy! Hyundai /Kia /Genesis are making impressive EVs. Glad free DCFC is gone - will help reduce congestion at public DCFC locations. Encouraging charging at home makes a lot more sense. Is battery in 2025 more forgiving with respect to pack temp needed to get top charge speed?
Do you notice any difference in the ride between the 2024 and the 2025?
To be honest, I did not notice any difference.
@ Okay. Thanks for answering.
Is Ionic 25 already ok also with the 12V battery point of view? They had some problems when 12V battery runs out and one needs jumper cables to fix it ?
Hyundai has been having 12V issues since even way back to their original Ioniq PHEVs. They claim to have fixed it but I have my doubts. I purchased a small solar panel that I leave connected to my 12V on my Ioniq PHEV and since then it hasn't left me stranded where in the first 18 months of ownership it had been drained dead 7 times needing roadside to boost it.
I predict an update for Tesla charger use is coming soon in the 25 Ioniq 5. Hope that happens soon.
Please straighten your seatbelt.
I wasn’t sure so I looked it up, and you’re right. It is definitely best practice to not have a seatbelt that’s twisted. Especially true for little kids.
It’s one of those things I need to notice when I get into a car. Bad habit.
Please tell me how you were able to lease for two years only. Dealerships here saying three or more here. Can you please provide your terms of the lease or send me an email?
Two year leases are common. Where do you live? Please feel free to call Crossroads Hyundai in Loveland. I’m not a sales person, but someone will get you the information you need.
@ southeast
@ pitching locally.
@ test driving 2024 SEL AWD today. Does the NACS adapter work with supercharger on this car?
@ Do only the AWD versions have the heat pump? Thought I read that.
Do not buy VW ID.4s. -signed former ID4 owner
...until the ICCU dies and you can't get to work on time and lose your job.
2 years into my I5 ownership, and she has never let me down yet. If you are so certain these cars will fail you, why are you here?
2025 is included in the ICCU recall.
