TIP FOR IMPROVING RATES = Build a small AFK platform 4 or 5 blocks under the main platform built in the video, and when u AFK here unshould get improved rates :)
I FOUND THE SOLUTION. For all bedrock players who are struggling- after building 2 of these buildings, the first on land close to mountain( wanted it close to my base) failed with 0 mobs spawning, I tried everything but couldn’t get it to work so I built another one in the middle of the ocean, this time I added 120 blocks high instead of 100 heigh (sea level was at 63 so instead of 163 I did 183) then I added 21 block height to the mob drop height. I also made the roof 3 blocks high instead of 2. Works like a charm! If you want it been better make it 2 stories with the top floor looking exactly the same just without water of course. Tip: place carpet on the droppers to collect all xp Tip 2 : put trap doors on the ceiling as well to prevent more spiders.
I play bedrock on the ps4 and if I don’t dig it out as deep as physically possible, they will not spawn period. I don’t know why mojang can’t get their shit together and fix bugrock instead of adding 3 mobs and one item yearly
Tip: Place slabs above the hoppers to elevate the mobs, but have a half block to hit them. It also helps with mobs not being able to see you as well and makes sure the XP doesn't get stuck.
The reason why building the AFK Platform five blocks below the killing platform works so well is because mobs usually can’t spawn within 24 blocks of you unless you’re moving, and the platform goes 19 blocks up. Thus, going down 5 blocks brings the distance between where you are and where the mobs spawn to 24 blocks, giving you higher spawn rates.
I dont know what ive done wrong, but nothing is spawing..ive checked its pitch black inside , could it be im in a chunk border? Did it on a different World and it worked perfectly so im unshure of whats going on..

Just built this today, works how intended for me, to all of those having issues maybe try a different location, I did mine in the ocean near no land of caves and I don’t seem to have any issues. I’ve had one spider come down so far but no more than that and plenty of mobs are coming down. Either you may have not done something right or the area you did it in isn’t mob proof. But this is just a fyi that it’s working for me on bedrock at the moment.

Hello/ I have done some modifications. I am on PS5 (bedrock). IMHO The fall is 22 blocks (1 block of water and the 21 block chimney),. That is ok but it effects the spawn rate from where you are standing (killing area). All my calculations lead to almost half of the spawn area is ineffective when standing 1 block above the chest. To improve spawn rate dig 1 block down and stand on the same level as the chest. This makes the whole spawn area effective. Now the killing area is through a half block under a slab, at the feet of the mobs, no blowing up too. Other modifications: roof, block + slabs, no torches. Hoppers covered with carpets. Dig down the killing area by 1 block and mobs will fall every few seconds, one thing you need to sneak in order to see. When you do this modification you will see why. If you have not built this yet, make the chimney 22 blocks (where stated 21) and all the rest as usual (except for blowing up mobs from time to time). Mobs and Humans die on a fall over 23.5 blocks, so a chimney of 22 + 1 block of water is enough.
If you’re on bedrock v1.20.51 it is working just fine in terms of spawning and dropping the mobs. The only issue I’m having is mobs can hit you through the walls if you’re up close and creepers will blow up almost immediately. Not really sure why that’s a thing if I’ve been doing this design for years without a single problem
@@unbreakablediamond6982 I’m having the same issue now, when I first built it it was working good but now I can’t get more than 3 to spawn at a time over the course of 10 minutes. Most non farms are completely broken on bedrock unfortunately
@@Linux_Lover471 yeah I figured it out, it works really well but 30 levels in 10 mins isn’t true lol more like from level 1-30 in 45 -1 hour for me but still a good farm nonetheless
This design works really well on my bedrock world, especially now that I built a little AFK platform 5 blocks underneath my normal platform like some of the comments have suggested. I was playing on easy difficulty which obviously has the lowest mob spawn rate besides peaceful and I went afk for like 5 minutes on my afk platform to go get some water and I came back to see a bunch of mobs in my kill chamber. Thank you for uploading and I’m glad that now I can get some easy XP
This farm shouldn’t be for Xp you should get loot from it which it is very good once you do the 5 block thing like he recommended do a enderman farm for XP
For those who play on mcpe or bedrock(probably) i recommend you to: 1.instead of trap door, add button 1 in 2 block on the spawning platform 2.put scaffolding on the rest of the platform 3.put water above the button and scaffolding(yes water can flow above button in mcpe) to push the mob immediately after they spawn to the water below(somehow mob can still spawn even if their head was under water as long as their feat was not in mcpe) 4.to prevent the water above from leaking down, put an opened fence gate therefore the mob could still pass but the water can't
So while I was using this, a creeper saw me and almost blew up the bottom of the farm. I guessed that it was cause it walked into the lower area of the hopper, so I took some carpets and covered the hoppers. Does this solve that issue or is there something else I can do? Edit: probably add slabs instead
I'm getting no mobs, I've done it in a valley and built up to 181, any thoughts on why it's not working? I've followed thr instructions bit by bit apart from the cobble, I've done deepslate instead, am I doing something wrong?
Im not getting anything to spawn. I make the initial mob floor three blocks above the water. Would this effect the spawning? Amd i used buttons instead of trap doors Edit: Turns out it was because my friend, we were in a server, was at a spider spawner farm. Once he left it, that d grinder worked prefectly
If you dont want mobs to tey and attack you while afk, remove the top layer of slabs and surround the bottom layer of slabs with 4 trap doors, you can then use the trap doors to push yourself down while you kill them
I did this but it did not work for some reason. The only changes i made was i did not place the trap doors to prevent spider spawns and i used netherrack instead of cobblestone to build. Has this been patches or something?
Built mine out of cobble deepslate and followed the video step by step. I've been here for 20 minutes and got one skeleton and one witch. Didn't use slabs on the roof either
@@610adventures7 there's two things that might make the rates bad- i don't remember if the video brought this up, but the amount of distance between the player when they're moving is smaller than the non-moving spawn distance- so if you build an afk platform about 5-7 blocks below the actual platform here, it can get much better rates. also sometimes i switch between difficulty levels when at the farm just to get better drops, so i'd check that too if you want to do that.
Someone please help/advise me. I’ve followed the video EXACTLY and I even followed the OTHER VIDEO WITH CARPET. NO MATTER WHAT I DO SPIDERS KEEP SPAWNING. I used trap doors and carpet, different patterns including MAKING THE ENTIRE FLOOR CARPET. Nothing works, spiders still spawn, I even put trap doors at the top of the entrance of the chute and they still spawn…
Thanks. Nice, simple and easy. You can scale it up a bit and add levels but if you're on a simulation distance of 4, there's not much point in going more than 5 levels thanks to spawn mechanics.
EDIT: Build your AFK platform 10 or 20 blocks down from the level you place the chest. Much faster spawn rates on both vs just 5 levels down. just built this on bedrock v1.20.50. It does work. however, 1. you need a lot more cobblestone than in the vid count 2. spawn rates aren't great (even with building an AFK platform 5 blocks below which you should definitely do). 3. don't skip the 3x3 trap doors on each square, i experimented with taking them out and nothing was spawning. 4. I suggest bringing scaffolding to help build if you fall. and a bed to place on your AFK platform to skip phantom nights. I have had no issues with creepers exploding like a lot of people are saying. just use the slabs as the video says to and don't crouch when hitting the mobs.
Also, I have noticed after building that the afk area definitely needs to go down like people have said but also, the xp tends to get stuck in corners and hoppers, so to avoid that just put slabs over, the hoppers will still collect everything
Thank you so much this is the first one that actually worked. But 1 question, what do you do against creepers? Mine spawn them and I always have to be carful about it
Are you able to fix this. Anyone know. It spawns mobs but only a limited amount no matter how long I afk and I only get like 2 or 3 levels after 20 minutes
My grinder wasn’t working and after watching/reading a bunch of tips for if it’s not working nothing helped me so I just ended up making a copy of my world and messing around with it. For me removing the trapdoors and raising the roof level up by 1 fixed it for me and changing it to peaceful then back to hard mode helped the spawn rates.
Yeah I tried this once a couple years ago only for it to not work. I tried it again last night, and it still doesn't work.... I don't understand why this works for other peopl
I done some tweaking on this one. I built a extra layer, put water where the hoppper is so they dont die when they drop down. Removed all trap doors apart from the ones on the side where the water is. Lowered my killing area by 1 block so creepers dont blow me up. Im now getting a decent amount of XP, another 2 layers on and it should be even better. The only downside is due to needing water it takes more hits to kill the mobs. The reason i removed the trap doors, i read they can block potential spawns points for mobs, not sure if that is correct, it seems to be flowing nicely and spiders are not blocking the drop down. Not the best farm, but it will do for getting some xp abd gunpowder/bonemeal
mine doesn't spawn anything, what i'm doing wrong? the chest platform is at 163, the spawn dark platform is at 185 and i've tried AFK in various points between hight 163 and 154, but don't spawn any mob
Forbetter experience doesn’t use method against the spider but use the sand of souls, place it in the place where they fall(they can’t escape or block inside).
@@Adam_Sandler_frfrhopper minecarts can collect items through blocks, yes, you would just have to put a hopper minecarts on top of hoppers on a 3x2 track under the kill floor (powered rails can’t turn & if you don’t use powered rails you may need more than one hopper minecart)
You need to make it so mobs only spawn in the mob farm, by going really high up you limit the mobs spawning in caves/on the ground, theoretically is a large enough area around it is lit up you can go lower, but you still need to go pretty high up to maximise spawn rates. Thats also why ocean biomes are the best because most mobs cant spawn in the water
What i did was made a farm like this, but built a trident killer instead. Uses 4 observers, 4 redstone torches, and 4 pistons...and 1 trident. Even works on spiders, i didn't even spider proof it. Made my farm 3 layers tall and spent half an hour testing it. Even spawns in witches from time to time. I'm on bedrock edition. @spheghetilover
If your on bedrock i recommend just doing the trident auto mob farm this farm is not very good for getting alot of xp unless you want to go up and down every minute for 1 level of xp Another thing is make your killing platform 1 block lower or creepers will blow as you climb up. It happened 4 times for me
I'm still not seeing the "level 30 in 10 minutes" on the thumbnail. I'm seeing some creatures are dying on impact, and I'm still getting some spiders to spawn. I built this to the specs in the video, and also added the AFK platform suggested. I can understand if there's a mob limit. Is there maybe an optimal period to be AFK? anything else I can add?
I added two more layers below the first one (so mobs do not die from fall damage) as well as a platform 5 blocks below the kill chamber platform. Seem to be getting much better spawn rates. Will probably add another two for 5 total. Hope this helps@@sivamaiaa
This worked great, but my only downfall is the creepers still blow up when you stand too close to the xp farm. All in all there was no other issue , this was the first time this xp farm has worked for me.
Is there any way to have creepers spawn more I was thinking putting cats on the 4 edges to make the run towards the middle but I was not sure if that’ll work. I also am thinking that if you put 4 turtle eggs in the middle of the spawner they would run to it and die but not sure?
Yea slabs would work. Anything you can do to break line of sight. If I were u, I would block it off so mobs don’t fall on ur head and build a “trident killer” @jcplayz has up to date bedrock tutorials too
I got one creeper and no more mobs are spawning. I’m in hard mode and built the farm perfectly. I’m in two player mode. Does that affect the farm if both players are not there?
Anyone else implement a trident killer for this farm so you don’t waste a sword durability? Use Looting 3 on your sword and just hold it in your hand while the trident killer gets the mobs, the Looting effect will go to the trident.
This farm sucks. I spent over two hours getting all the materials and building the farm and I did it exactly right I checked over it more than three times and it still doesn’t work. I went down five blocks from the original platform nothing spawning so I don’t recommend this farm for any bedrock players, any tips would help
Either travel around the overworld in the dark and kill every mob on sight or go to the nether and round up as many zombie pigmen or piglins for the reaping
I followed the tutorial except i used slabs on top of the spawning platform instead of torches and I didn't use trapdoors to prevent spiders and mobs aren't spawning.
I made this on bedrock edition. I couldn’t find open ocean so I made it in a fairly large river and went up 200 block instead of 163. I didn’t use slabs for the ceiling and lit the roof and did exactly as the video said but it isn’t working. Can anyone help
As of jun 22 2024 this farm doesn't work anymore. I have been AFKing for more than 1 hour 5 blocks below the killing platform and not a single mob has spawned.

Me too I died couple of times because of fall damage
Im not getting anything to spawn. I make the initial mob floor three blocks above the water. Would this effect the spawning? Amd i used buttons instead of trap doors
Edit: Turns out it was because my friend, we were in a server, was at a spider spawner farm. Once he left it, that d grinder worked prefectly
@@Bobsimons-cu8nndose it matter if I do it in a lake
@@Braydensgaming10also wondering
If you dont want mobs to tey and attack you while afk, remove the top layer of slabs and surround the bottom layer of slabs with 4 trap doors, you can then use the trap doors to push yourself down while you kill them
I did this but it did not work for some reason. The only changes i made was i did not place the trap doors to prevent spider spawns and i used netherrack instead of cobblestone to build. Has this been patches or something?
idk
also
cobblestone is better
cause creepers have a VERY hard time blowing it up
and did you maybe try building it in the middle of nowhere?
if you used slabs for the roof and are in bedrock, that's probably the problem because in bedrock slabs let light through
Built mine out of cobble deepslate and followed the video step by step. I've been here for 20 minutes and got one skeleton and one witch. Didn't use slabs on the roof either
@@610adventures7 there's two things that might make the rates bad- i don't remember if the video brought this up, but the amount of distance between the player when they're moving is smaller than the non-moving spawn distance- so if you build an afk platform about 5-7 blocks below the actual platform here, it can get much better rates. also sometimes i switch between difficulty levels when at the farm just to get better drops, so i'd check that too if you want to do that.
its probably because u use netherrack xd
How do you add levels? The mobs will fall more than 24 blocks and die
@@BusterPrime the mobs fall into water before they drop down to be killed. Water is no damage.

I have a platform 5 blocks below hard mode on and stimulation chunks to 4. 30 minutes have passed and not a single mob has fallen
That’s exactly what I have
Me too, i’ve been afk one hour and nothing
Same
EDIT: Build your AFK platform 10 or 20 blocks down from the level you place the chest.
Thanks i have been getting barley any spawns and people keep saying it works great
Does simulation distance effect anything? I can probably max mine on ps5
Mine spawn them and I always have to be carful about it

try not using slabs for the roof

@@Adam_Sandler_frfrhopper minecarts can collect items through blocks, yes, you would just have to put a hopper minecarts on top of hoppers on a 3x2 track under the kill floor (powered rails can’t turn & if you don’t use powered rails you may need more than one hopper minecart)
Do we really have to firstly go 100blocks up? because of thinking of making this near my main house

Quick question, if I were to basically copy paste multiple platforms, would I get higher amounts of mobs to spawn??
If your on bedrock i recommend just doing the trident auto mob farm this farm is not very good for getting alot of xp unless you want to go up and down every minute for 1 level of xp
Another thing is make your killing platform 1 block lower or creepers will blow as you climb up. It happened 4 times for me
✅️
any tips on making the spawn rate faster im getting like one mob every minute?
Add another layer on top, although every layer is less efficient than the one before.
The carpets won't work in bedrock, I commented there's a 3 types of button pattern in newest
I was asking myself the same thing
Had to redesign the killing chanmber because creepers keeps blowing up. But overall decent tutorial
Try adjust the slabs
Farms workin great thanks for the vid 👏
Wondering if extra layers will improve spawn rate ?????
Did you get an answer for this I’m curious
I also am thinking that if you put 4 turtle eggs in the middle of the spawner they would run to it and die but not sure?
if you fill the roof with trapdoors they will spawn more often
hey, can i scale it up adding more levels?
You have to make a seperate one if u have afk chamber if you don't yeah sure build the second layee

Put slabs on top of the hoppers so they can’t see you but the hoppers can still pick up the items

Anyone else implement a trident killer for this farm so you don’t waste a sword durability? Use Looting 3 on your sword and just hold it in your hand while the trident killer gets the mobs, the Looting effect will go to the trident.
Put Mending on the sword and it self heals!
It should be way easier to get Mending by using villagers.
Does it have to be that high?
Thanks so much for the tutorial! Just finished making it in my hardcore world and it works wonderfully. 🎉❤
This farm sucks. I spent over two hours getting all the materials and building the farm and I did it exactly right I checked over it more than three times and it still doesn’t work. Definitely works on bedrock, built it a few days ago. Only issues I have are having to afk 5 blocks below the farm and spiders still spawn
Either travel around the overworld in the dark and kill every mob on sight or go to the nether and round up as many zombie pigmen or piglins for the reaping
