Headers? More like ported manifold or new manifold. It’s a hot v v8 meaning the turbos are in the valley so there’s no headers, it’s just a manifold directly into the turbos. I mean unless u want Valvetronic or some other company to figure out tube headers with hidden turbos and a redesigned/modified Valvetronic exhaust. They are also DOHC so it’d need 4 cams. Hopefully someone can physically lock the VANOS system on it, it’d be so cool to hear this thing chop. U can make any OHC engine chop by locking the various variable cam systems they have (vvt, vvl, VTEC, VANOS, whatever the manufacturer wants to call it) either physically with cam lockers (or sometimes a cam phaser lockout) or digitally with tuning to lower the rpm those systems activate at (so it’ll be active at idle and stay on) or completely turn it off and tune it out
Or Build some nice turbo headers if you can fit something under that hood, upgrade the turbos a tad, build header with turbo housing in mind . That would make some great sounds with your 4" straight pipe idea, look good if visible much under the hood too. If after the downpipes it could fit a single 4 or 4.5 inch pipe out back, no muffler . Now that would sound great. Could add muffler with valve if someone wanted I guess.
Sounds good! Still a bit too quiet tho, will be good with dps! Interesting that it has no valves stock, pretty sure the eu version has valves but it’s way quieter because of the opf. Edit: The eu version does indeed have valves, just checked on the car we have in our showroom at work

R.I.P. Warranty,. Depending on your dealer, many M5 owners have lost their warranty for simply changing their exhaust or cold air intakes even though they didn't tune the car or touch the ECU. Pretty unfortunate series of events. Make sure you get your dealers hand written approval to change the exhaust to an aftermarket one before you lose your warranty. Just looking out for people.
Great job Valvetronic 🎉 I think that’s as good as it’ll get with stock downpipes. My issue is the new G90 M5 is just not the same as previous m5s, and is otherwise pretty boring. Also the camera that’s in the sunroof control buttons, data mines your facial expressions and is used to train BMW’s incoming ai. I don’t like that🧐
To me, that’s good, I prefer natural pops and bangs. The ones bmw use (and German manufacturers in general) are tuned into the car and then ppl tune the pops and bangs to be louder and last longer and it gets on my nerves. They DO sound good from the inside, but from the outside it’s too obnoxious for me

Sounds identical to the old one. Sounds like a 4 banger. That 180 degree manifold needs to go. The 550i has a regular hot vee manifold and those sound a million times better than the M5.

F10, F90 (and now the G90) are weird sounding V8s...I have still not heard a nice sounding exhaust for any of these. They can be loud, but they are not very tuneful.
It’s the cross plane manifold. Makes it very unique compared other tt v8’s. With the correct setup they can sound pretty good, it’ll just be different.
See the problem with them and other German turbo v8s are they are all (besides the 5.5L TT from Mercedes and maybe some diesel v8s from the big German three) hot vee turbo engines. That’s why they sound weird, especially the 4L TT motors from Audi and Mercedes in the RS and AMG models. Cold v turbos (like that 5.5 TT v8 I mentioned) sound like proper v8s plus some turbo sounds, like if u were to turbo an LS or something and put an emissions compliant exhaust on it, both should similar if not the exact same
The stock exhaust is pathetic. Munich should be ashamed of itself. I think it’s only a matter of a few years before they bring back an actual m exhaust. Hopefully

even f90 sounds better with stock exhaust. The only way to make aftermarket sound good is the cats gotta go. My Fi sounded quieter than stock they were smart tho they designed the exhaust to be combined with a fully catless setup so that when valves closed it actually sounded quieter than fully stock and when valves are open it sounds insane. I am sure when Valvetronic goes fully catless it will sound insane
