I’ve played with Bolt quite a bit, here are my tips for working with it successfully; 1. Make your initial prompt as detailed as possible. It saves on credits, but also saves reworking things. It is easier to be detailed up front, rather than trying to get it to fix things. Think of it like writing a spec for a developer. 2. I will type out a bullet list of exact features I want it to have and describe them in great detail. I try to think of these bullet lists in a linear fashion so that I am spec’ing out the app piece by piece. 3. It works really well to have a UI layout ahead of time. It not only makes the UI look good, but it also helps orient the AI with the detailed prompting I mentioned above. Just drop in images if the design right in to the prompt window. 4. Be clear about where you want to deploy the app (ie web, native mobile, etc). And even better, you can specify the tech stack you want it to use (ie. HTML, css, vanilla JavaScript). If you don’t, it will choose whatever it thinks is best. 4. If you are building a responsive app, mention that ahead of time. Then when you are refining, you can mention specific breakpoints if you want layout revisions or whatever.
That's a very good point -longer more detailed prompts. Most demos I've seen have involved many short prompts which chewed through my daily token allowance within minutes...
Absolutely brilliant Eric … this demo was inspirational for an 80 year old who has spent a lifetime developing computational knowledge tools at some amazing companies around the world who now wants to get to use my toys in an intuitive automated real-time interactive mode that enables accelerated computational knowledge research and creation! Getting Bolt right now … Cheers ... Syd Geraghty
Pro tip: Don't use firebase (unstructured proprietary garbage with $$$ vendor lock-in), use supabase (rock solid open source platform on top of postgres).
Greg Isenberg is officially my best TH-cam channel and podcast. The guy gives real value without hype. After watching this episode, I imagined a million things I could build.
This was AMAZING, thanks so much guys. I started using Bolt daily a month ago and I’m seeing my ideas come to life almost for free and super fast. What a time to be alive. ⚡️💯
This is my first introduction to Bolt. After watching the video and playing around with the system, I'm very impressed. Bolt is a time-saver, and as mentioned towards the end of the video, you don't have to download software packages locally to create a dev environment. I look forward to using this to build a new product.
That is simply put : AMAZING, - during the interview I had the rough frame of an app running that I have thought of for a while, and I am no App Developer.... And Greg, keep'em coming - love your channel.
I haven't done this since Myspace in 2009. I've been doing it the last two days (from scratch building though) and I can't sleep because I am 13 years behind trying to catch up as fast as possible. The sense of urgency is REAL. I've accomplished nothing but 16 hours of trying, but I feel like I am on the verge of a breakthrough to accomplish all of my dreams of changing the world. I feel like this is what I've been waiting for my whole life.
Thanks for the Pod. In the last 5 minutes when the CEO of StackBlitz mentioned landing pages being a breeze, I took a stab at it and was able to create one before the video ended. Ik as AI develops, the usage as well as ideas for web apps, etc will be endless. 🎉
This pod and in particular demos by CEO’s are a game changer. I’ve gone through a decade of no ideas to my mind firing off and technically I’m learning, super ❤
Wowww that output design is really incredible. I'm a designer and 90% of designers won't be able to achieve this level. Mic drop! Thanks Eric and your team for building Bolt. Thanks for putting this video up! Love this. Can't wait to start building.
This is coool !! Thank you Eric and Greg for this awesome demo !! The best part I liked was there was no 'prep' and just using simple regular conversation to prompt Bolt to Build, Deploy and test !!
this is a game changer especially for non techie people like myself gonna try bolt out thanks for your content and helping me to find this product keep up the great work...
I subscribed, and the first thing I did was enter the exact prompt used in this video to create the product directory. I didn't get the quick and great results shown here. It's impressive if you want to create some very simple projects. Just don't expect too much from it.
This may be my tool! I have ideas for days, but no team and short on funds. I'm a Product designer by trade so I've built plenty of products and thought through many functions of the products. But when it comes time to build something for myself I get stuck. I don't have the skills to go from idea to functioning product. this is amazing!! I need to learn databases. I'm a little familiar with Supabse and Firebase. I'm gonna get started! Thank you! I'll follow up.
Great video and content! I think Bolt bridges exactly what's needed that Cursor cannot do. The deployment and linking with other softwares is so much easier for non-professional. And even the small tweakings here and there are so easy. I will definitely check it out.
Wow, i just tried this AI tool and i got the "oh my good moment", this is crazy what it is capable of doing and it is just the beginning. As a developer i am really scared of my future if i can't move into another field. the app that i asked bolt to create is note taker chrome extension. this is the one that i test all the AI to see if it is worth, for some reason the majority can't give a good code, but bolt was by far the best
Very impressive…. I love watching how other people interact with AI. You are one of the good one …. We’ll be spare the wrath if and when…. It happens. PUMPED to tryBolt!!!
I am a newbie to the dev world with an array of ideas. I am starting to learn how Bolt works and this is the perfect video for it. I am also commenting on here so that one day, when I have the basics fundamentalised, I too can come on the show
Sadly, I keep on getting the white screen of death RE the preview screen, like many others are. Tried on Chrome, Firefox, and Brave browsers. Fantastic concept, just needs to....work?
Dude this video is so underestimating the power of this software . Both of you need to become better marketers 😂 Fantastic product what I’m making (your free to check in back end ) is crazy
Is there a Bolt QnA page where I can ask if it can create something that I want to develop and then it can give me a list of the information I need to supply?
As good as Bolt sounded great, it still needs a lot of updates. If you get these errors for just simple apps, as a non-developer when you come across these errors, you will be stuck. If the co-founder gets stuck, good luck to the rest of us. These AI apps supposed to work without knowing coding but it seems like if you don't know about coding, this app is useless until it has massive updates
Sorry this is soo long but, that's a big misconception due to people using viral marketing titles and descriptions (like "Build This No Coding Needed etc."). The word "Agent" is the equivalent to the word "Metaverse" (hyped concept due to developer excitement that's still under development). Agents or No-Code AI app builders don't really exist just yet and the ones that do are really just chatbots/assistants with detailed instructions and automations. Whether you have a visual preview or not, you shouldn't upload code to a website if you cant read it, and AI is not at the point where it can be fully trusted to write, design, add databases, add auth provider (login), and upload the app to a host/server automatically without someone reviewing the final code (although close). If you cant read the code or have someone on your team who can at least understand the code and is part of the prompt process, than your best bet is still a drag and drop editor. When E-commerce sites became big, if you didn't know how to properly create content and run paid social ads, you couldnt take advantage of that opportunity. I personally wouldn't recommend anyone non-technical to build applications using source code they cant read. Nothing wrong with Wix, Squarespace, Builder, etc. Most of the no-code or low-code AI app hype is derived from the fact that, even as a developer, building/designing these apps would take weeks to months and now take a day or 2. Huge opportunity! No such thing as a technical non technical co-founder in a tech startup so learn to code even if you never write a line. In a early tech startup you're either building or investing. Biggest example is Eduardo Saverin. He got pushed out of FB while anyone who contributed to the success of the technology was fine (even if they didn't code it i.e. Sean Parker).
Was wondering, once its deployed, how does one add to a already deployed web application, for example to add more features. I was wondering if people, including I, will get too carried away with launching a project and then not be able to make the necessary changes or add more features once it’s deployed?
@GregIsenberg Serious question: Can you build a website and then walk out the door with it and put the site on your own host? (Or is it like 1000 other tools that vendor lock you in to their host)?
I watched a video recently which demonstrated it was possible to build iOS apps leveraging xCode alongside Cursor. Is this also possible with Bolt.new as this would be my preferred option?
Crazy video! Quick question: When you create something with Bolt, what data storage do you use? Can you integrate it with AWS, GCP or Azure? And if bulding things with AI in terms of RAQ, can you use Snowflake, Pinecone or Sugabase? My problem with these low-code tools is that Data is always an issue (if you build something with Bubble for example)

This is golden tips. Thank you for sharing ❤
how much credits do actually they give you in one time or after 24 hours how much i will get again ?
Damn dude you got the stackblitz CEO on your pod. That’s super impressive! You sure know your audience

This is like my 4th podcast of yours that I watched. This one sold me on a sub. Looking forward to play with bolt immediately.
Wow, this changes everything - so much creativity is going to be unleashed.
Thx to Greg and Eric! Cool stuff! Incredible! Love it!
