you all prolly dont care at all but does anybody know of a method to log back into an Instagram account?? I was stupid forgot the password. I would love any tips you can give me!
Oh how I love this woman's silky, velvety, smooth, belcanto voice! No swooping on that last note in the stratosphere! I'm glad she did not become a nun as her mother wished!LOL! Oh how I loved actually seeing and hearing Anna in person...twice! And we enjoyed her so much we bought more tickets. She had an amazing stage presence...as if she were singing straight to us in the third row center! BRAVISSIMA ANNA! Actual eye contact! A real GEM!
Voce dal colore meraviglioso, brava, bella, grande attrice, simpatica, elegante, charme infinito...chi c'e' oggi cosi? Devia? Netrebko? Fleming? Bartoli?...andiamo, la festa e' finita da un pezzo.
I absolutely love her and CANNOT understand why she was not more famous!! She was stunning and she had everything: beauty, beautiful voice, talent, technique, personality, charisma and the list goes on. La Bellissima, one of my favorite opera singers of all times.
First, she has contemporary collègues such as Joan Sutherland, Leontyne Price ans then Mirella Freni, Montserrat Caballé… Then, she had very soon in her carrer vocal problems and didn't sing much operas outside the USA. But, personally, I like her very much though ;)
Her husband pushed her in to taking on a grueling film and tv schedule ON TOP OF the operatic roles. Thank heavens the voice held up as long as it did and we have these priceless gems to remember her by.
Actually the closed mouth (esp. for the higher register) is an old school Garcia technique that can be traced back to singers in the 19th century. You can also see it in the videos of Roberta Peters who was schooled in this technique.
Thank you for sharing. Part of being a pro is to make it look easy and not showing the mechanics or indeed what one has eaten for lunch! Miss M of course had the advantage of being lovely to look, secure technique and ease which made her a joy to watch, but in a way this detracted from the real beauty of her voice espcially right at the top - no all purpose' aw' vowel sound, real colour & control. Career was far too short. Thank heavens for people like you sharing these glories.
This is not Moffo at her best, but I have to say that it's still better than a lot of what I'm hearing today. I just bought her French Arias and Verdi Arias albums on Ebay, which I'm going to convert to CD and post here. I've been trying to get the Verdi arias for years but it's never been issued on CD
It's a very good performance of the aria. Consider that she was 3 years removed from the disastrous LUCIA broadcast that Mr. Bing nearly cut short because she was in such poor voice and that, within 4 years, her Met career (and, really, her career everywhere) would be over. A great performance by a classy and talented lady: she certainly was DEAD ON for this one!!!
SHE IS AMAZING , HOW SHE PUSHES THE HIGH NOTES REMENBER ME MARIA CALLAS . BOTH ARE MY FAVORITES SOPRANOS. FIATTO, AND TECHNIC, GOOD TASTE AND PASSION .
I do not understand all this talk about Moffo's mouth and throat. Singing with the mouth nearly closed is a sign of possessing technique. Why open your mouth wide when you don't have to? The best singers always sing, except in the highest range, with their mouths very little open. I'd never seen Moffo before this video--but had always liked her voice and operatic interpretations. Here i see the why. She is physically straight-backed but relaxed, hence the great technique. Pure pleasure!
yes, i have seen and heard things more beautiful - also Moffo's recordings :) by the way this is after the time when she, herself, considered that she can't do her best, and gave up singing
@mjmacmtenor we are taught this way at my college, and now I teach my own students this way. I have had QUITE a time convincing people that this technique works!!
This is wonderful. And now a days were stuck with Fleming struggling to get through it and Dessay screeching the high parts. Goodness, what happened to singers like this?!
@khothye I agree with your theories - I have also wondered sometimes if it was because she wasn't always singing the best repertoire for her voice. Singing Un bel di AND the Shadow Song AND the Bell Song is kind of a warning, and I once read that she always blamed it on her ex-husband/agent for pushing her into repertoire designed to please audiences even if it wasn't the healthiest or appropriate weight/tessitura for her
God, what a voice! SO LOVELY. It IS hard to believe that the voice would fall apart so badly only four years later. The infamous Lucia of hers is SO sad to listen to -- just hideous. Still, I love her.
this must have been a good night for her in1972. i heard her in hartford singing 'boheme' with pavarotti in 1974 and she was really in vocal trouble. scooping up to every entrance- even repeated notes! she was obviously not happy with all the applause the pav was garnering.
Many singers open one side of their mouth more than the other (like Domingo, Bartoli, etc.). I think that this wasnt the reason of the declining of her voice. Seeing and listening her, I think that she had problems with the liberation of the sound: she used too much the muscles of the neck and doesn't relax enaughly her throat. A pitty, because for me she was he best lyric soprano. However we have this wonderfulls recordings.

WOW... and Dessay still thinks she can dare to compare to a singer like this??? she must be dreaming
Hey folks this is nice to look at and pretty nice to listen to... indeed her voice declined, she sang too many parts out of her voice, recorded too much, to many TV Shows etc, I think she was just exhausted. Who would not be tires: look many roles she had in her repertoire in a very short laps of time. It's a pity, the business broke her.
Leontyne Price has that distinction, my friend. That is acknowledged by many, besides having a long career and going out from the Met with a wonderful Aida, in her later 50’s.
No... her beauty was the decline. She was in such a demand that she began to take on the Verdi and Puccini Heroines in which her voice was too light to sing on a regular basis. her voice just could not compete with the demand!! It is unfortunate!!
One of the Great, Great Talents of our age.
I listen to Anna Moffo and forget there is 'bad' anywhere in the world.
Per me la più bella di ogni tempo!!!!! E poi che voce.... Fraseggio... Arte scenica... C'era tutto per essere ammirata ❤ beautiful
vocal decline aside she still had one of the most beautiful soprano voices of all time!!
If there is a Diva that sings to each opera fans heart, Anna Moffo is the Soprano for mine. Love Moffo. Thanks so much for this clip

I comletely agree! thanks God she didn't become a nun..

How can anyone sing with such ease and such beauty?
I absolutely love her and CANNOT understand why she was not more famous!! She was stunning and she had everything: beauty, beautiful voice, talent, technique, personality, charisma and the list goes on. La Bellissima, one of my favorite opera singers of all times.

She was considered to be DIVA in Italy & the whole of Europe

The Art of Prima Dona & the 'bel canto' tradition impeccably distilled in 3 minutes with immeasurable grace & elegance.
Her husband pushed her in to taking on a grueling film and tv schedule ON TOP OF the operatic roles. Thank heavens the voice held up as long as it did and we have these priceless gems to remember her by.
The aria is "Obéissons quand leurs voix appelle," from MANON (1884) by Jules Massenet.
❤Слава Анне в веках .Прекрасное ее пение навсегда в моем сердце ...
Meravigliosa, da perderci la testa per la gran bella voce e per la sua bellezza !!!
Absolutely enchanting.
Moffo was a really exciting artist.
Have you ever seen or heard anything more beautiful???? I certainly haven't

Just heaven's voice! So human and feminine...

Che CLASSE. Grande.
i can't give myself a " + " here - roflmao - but all i'm saying is that if there is anything more magnificent then this that it's Moffo again
Que linda voz e beleza física. Uma das poucas sopranos que gosto.

forgive... i have never heard her b4, she seems to have excellent control etc.!! have to hear more of her!....brava!!!!!!!! very good!

unica strepitosa grande mitica anna moffo!!!!
@organdude44 absolutely! bravissima!
The for ever Opera SuperModel!!

U FORGOT THE VULGARISM OF NETREBKO !
@khothye I agree with your theories - I have also wondered sometimes if it was because she wasn't always singing the best repertoire for her voice. perfect!
I've always loved Anna Moffo and think she is underrated...but Beverly was the living incarnation of Manon in every way.
God, what a voice! SO LOVELY. It IS hard to believe that the voice would fall apart so badly only four years later. The infamous Lucia of hers is SO sad to listen to -- just hideous. Still, I love her.
SHE IS EXCELLENT!! IN THE MOVIE, ESPECIALLY ''THE MAD'' scene
Волшебное исполнение! А как называется ария?
Aria: Obeissons quand leurs voix appelle. From Manon of Jules Massenet.
Que heosas y maravillosas councidencias belleza fisica, y embriagante voz.Pipo de Texas
Two Thumbs Up!
qué guapa¡¡¡¡¡

@Brucesky72 Couldn't agree more about contemporary singers!
True!
Can anybody tell me if this on a CD.

WOW... and Dessay still thinks she can dare to compare to a singer like this??? she must be dreaming
Please... they're very different. Dessay could do things Moffo couldn't dream of and vice versa. I love them both. Try to stay positive.
Hey folks this is nice to look at and pretty nice to listen to... indeed her voice declined, she sang too many parts out of her voice, recorded too much, to many TV Shows etc, I think she was just exhausted. Senza dubbio il Soprano più grande dalla America del nord.
Leontyne Price has that distinction, my friend. That is acknowledged by many, besides having a long career and going out from the Met with a wonderful Aida, in her later 50’s.

the quality of the video isn't the best...and this is pretty late in her career as a singer, a few years before the declination of her voice!
cant stand the scooping up to the note thing she does.
For me its overdone and to pronounced, and she does elsewhere as well.
