Hello friends! I've got the ultimate big shot sandwich guide for embossing folders to share with you. I'm asked all the time what embossing plates to use with which type of folder so let's clear up all the confusion!
I have a lot to share with you today so make sure you watch the entire video. The card is a great way to use up all those scraps of card stock you have sitting around. And I will be sharing all the tips you need for using the Big Shot and the different types of embossing folders.
There are 3 main types of Embossing Folders that Stampin' Up! now carries, or used to carry. And each requires a different "sandwich" when using the Big Shot machine. I am often asked about this, so I thought I would bring all the information into a video for you.
But it would be boring to just talk about the Big Shot, so I have a fun card to also make that uses up scraps of card stock!

Lovely card and thanks for the embossing folder info. I was struggling with the 3D folder so now I know how to sandwich it. I make lots of scrap cards but never thought to die cut that layer - how fun! I sometimes run the scrappy layer thru an embossing folder. That is a great touch too. Thanks!

Thank you for this video. I am the proud owner of a Big Shot today and have a 3D embossing folder to start with. I am finding that just the platform and one cutting plate isn’t working so well for me, the sandwich seems too thick to put through. This was really insightful information for me, thank you.

I love the Stampin' Cut & Emboss machine but to be honest I've never cut fabric with any of them so I can't speak to that aspect of it. Here is the machine I like though: bit.ly/3osYPud
so glad you showed the blue plate for 3D embossing. I wanted to buy it sometime ago, but I don't think SU sells it anymore. Any tip to use those 3D embossing folders without that blue plate? Thanks again for all those fabulous tips using the scraps of cardstock. Beautiful card!

I have a big shot and don’t have the blue embossing plate to use with 3-D embossing folders. Is there a way to get them now? Thank you
I'm not sure where you can get them now as Stampin' Up! no longer carries the Big Shot.
Jackie, I don't see a blue plate in the new catalog, but there is a Smokey Gray plate called "Specialty Plate" it says "Use Specialty Plate (Plate 4) with 3D Embossing Folders for best embossing results, etc." Is this the blue plate?
Can you share a number for the "blue plate" ??? It's been around for a while hasn't it? I can't find it. When I typed in the number for what I thought it might be in the new catalog, it won't let me order.
It has already been placed on the discontinued list (not available). New plates coming June 3 in the catalog. Since I can't replace my bigshot at this time, I'm just using my standard plates and adding a shim (a folded piece of cardstock). You'll have to figure out what works best for your machine (every one has its own quirks), just don't force anything.
don't trash that fun strip outline you cut the center from. It would make a cool card front for another piece with a sentiment to be inlaid on. So, 5x7 card coming up! Fortunately, I'm a hobbyist, so I will never get rid of my stamps and permanent supplies. Never giving up my Subtles embossing folder!
