The last time I built a pc just for a new game was for Star Citizen in 2014 and after years of zilch said I'd never bother doing so again. Now here we are with FS2020, and I've done it again.
ive watched this video 2x and i still had to do a couple quick rewinds.. yeah.. the visuals are distracting.. autopilot will be my friend the first few times up.
This thing looks so realistic, it'd be a great practice aid for pilots. When I was getting my helicopter rating, I spent a fair amount of time in comparatively primitive flight sims to get a vague idea of what my sight picture would be like along various routes, and even those were very helpful. This would be just like actually being there.
I disagree, as a flight instructor one of the worst things you can hear a new student say is, "I play flight simulators," it's still a video game and at best good for procedural things, instrument scans and procedures, checklists, getting familiar with equipment and how its used, that sort of stuff. However even then even then because the habits being built are incorrect it essentially means you have to reprogram a student.
@@lolroflroflcakes Absolutely. I'm not a pilot or in training of any sort, but I agree. It's a good way to get inspiration and new pilots for the industry, but it's still just a videogame nonetheless. Even if it did teach technicalities and procedures, circumstantial decision making isn't something you can replicate - e.g. emergencies, conversing with flight controllers, etc. As much as I love Microsoft's Flight Sim, there's probably a reason why 'outdated' sims are used for actual training.
@@lolroflroflcakes - For actually controlling the craft, absolutely. I should've been more precise. I mean it'd be amazing for getting familiar with a specific airspace, seeing what the landmarks are going to actually look like, etc.
Game yes, simulator no. Burt Rutan during the development of Spaceship 1, used X-Plane for both White Knight and Spaceship 1's flight software. Not only that but they trained their pilots to fly a Spaceship 1 before it existed, by using X-Plane to retard White Knight's flight characteristics. Because X-Plane is technically not a flight simulator it's a physics simulator, with a flight simulator plugin sitting on top. Because of that you can replace the simulator plug-in with an actual aircraft.
Microsoft has already spoken on this. They are already working with third party companies to create fully fleshed out mods. If third party companies can do it, players should be able to make mods. Even obsidian any mentioned it in this video that mods are coming.
I’ve never been into flight simulators, but this game has my attention. The graphics and accurate world are the selling points to me, as the combination of learning to fly a simulated airplane while being able to also explore the world is very appealing.
As an Alpha tester, I'm under NDA cant talk about content or technical stuff. But I can say my experience has been very positive. I will definitely be buying MSFS!
Has 'niche' been Gamerified too? What's it supposed to mean now? Using the old out of the dictionary definition they're both niche. The entire genre is niche.
André Pereira while FS2020 looks amazing, I hope P3D and X Plane are able to find ways to compete. I believe some good competition will lead to better products and prices.
I still think P3D and X Plane still have its place. P3D is licensed for professional use so P3D will have that. And P3D will still have more planes and especially helicopters to fly and even other modded bizarre vehicles when MFS launches. But for sure, as MFS matures, it will lead to a shift of people moving to MFS.
@@igvc1876 Having to pay for all that pretty satellite imagery alone ensures that Xplane will have it's place. I don't care HOW gorgeous FS2020 looks, I just stare at IFR instruments 90% of the time, so it doesn't matter to me. My bandwidth does. Also, Xplane has missiles....
i guess Im randomly asking but does someone know a method to get back into an instagram account?? I was stupid lost the account password. I love any tricks you can give me.
@Mitchell Ronald thanks so much for your reply. I got to the site on google and I'm in the hacking process now. I see it takes a while so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
lol I doubt it'l let you install it. Even if you delete all your files except system files, if you really have a "craptop", you won't have enough storage to download it.
Even if it's Microsoft (way bigger than ED) I do not believe we'll have similar detailed aircrafts as dcs modules, surely not included in the base game. It takes at least 5 years to fully develop a plane like dcs a-10c.
@@andrealioce4341 I think they will be, but they are civil aircraft, without the "very complicated" software, and simplified at least a little to allow a maximum of player to use them easily. I think I saw the ability to "quick start" the airplane, I just hope we will be able to operate them at least to a certain amount of detail ^^
Plot twist: “The world was originally built only to copy it and put it in a game. One day we will live in it without limitations and call it the matrix”
Microsoft Flight simulator looks very good, but has one major Achilles heal, at least at launch - No VR support. Of all the genres on a PC, it is flight simulators that benefit the most from VR. The two big reasons being depth perception (you can SEE how high you are and your plane looks like a separate entity from the surrounding terrain - in pancake-vision it all looks like one image) and being placed IN the cockpit that along with the terrain is rendered at true 1:1 scale (seeing mountains at their true scale can be breath taking) - pancake-vision suffers in all these regards. The topping on the cake - at least as far as X-Plane is concerned is that you operate the whole aircraft with your VR controllers. So you are spatially operating it just like the real thing - again this is absent from pancake-vision. I hope MS add VR at some point - if they do I will probably make the jump - but to me, X-Plane with Orbx Scenery plus VR provides an unrivalled experience that I don't think a flat screen flight sim - no matter how good looking - can deliver.
Well said. And compared to many home cockpit setups a VR setup is cheaper, more immersive and more flexible regarding different aircraft (especially helicopters).
@@christiankohlhaas6273 Depends.. and most flight sim enthusiasts lvoe to build their own cockpits and controllers. it's part of the game. You could argue that touching real buttons in a real DIY cockpit is more immersive than waving a VR controller in the air and clicking too :) But well, the game isn't even out so we'll see how it goes in the end.
I've been flying airplanes for 42 years and wonder what it would be like to try something like this. Only one way to find out if it actually feels realistic.
@@Fitness4ever460 it will never fully be the same as real, although much of the characteristics will exist. The feeling of the aircraft rising or sinking, the input of throttle, or even wind buffet will always be missing in a sim
I'm really happy it's gained the attention of the mainstream. General Aviation needs another boom. A pilots license cost as much as a used car and is worth every penny. Do it.Even if you can only rent once every month or two. You're flying and you can split the cost with friends.
"A pilots license cost as much as a used car" Where are you getting pilots licenses? The college I tried to get mine from wanted the price of a Porsche
@@zedmanatutube and I did not have an ability to try them. When I've been shopping for my first serious joystick, the last one of FFBs was still listed, but already not available in the shops.
@@lowskillcamper Had a Wingman Force back in the day, that thing was really strong. The main problem though that FFB wasn't used right like in modern racing sims to convey the feel of the car and grip, or in the case of aircraft how close to a stall etc. Instead we got effects more like a rumble effect for gamepads. You got kickback from guns etc. and other effects like that, but they were too strong and affected precision negatively, which is why they fell out of fashion. Most of the High quality HOTAS did not have them. Now there is only a handful of yokes that are very expensive and the Logitech G940 set with FFB..........the problem is that the control/Programming software for the 940 sucks. What proper FFB would be is to give you the control/Stick forces, the slight buffeting at near stall, and other effects like the rumble when rolling, or uneven forces from a damaged wing or uneven loads.
Although it does look INSANELY good, It will also all depend on how well the game performs for most end users and from what I understand any hitches in the network you use to connect to the internet with, affects game performance.
mikkdc As stated by Asobo, You can always pre-download the region you’re going to fly in based on your flight plan. There’s always that option, so you really don’t have to have great Internet. Unless you decide you want to fly multiplayer.
I'm in the Alpha and i can tell you this: FS2020 is phenomenally incredible in terms of Visuals, but a LOT of work is left. I know i know, ''it's only an Alpha'' and it sure is, however they have a BIG road ahead. End of the line? Not even close and i'll tell you why, INVESTMENTS. A lot of simmers have invested in hundreds over the years into these flight sims. With P3D and XP11 being the top dogs, you would think that people would have left the likes of FS2004 and FSX, wrong, people remain, why? either hard core fans and the biggest, INVESTMENTS. People won't just give up hundreds of pounds because FS2020 comes out tomorrow, they will continue to sim and for as long as they continue to sim FSX/P3D/XP11, their will always be a market and Devs go where the market is. end of other flight sims? Nah, not even close....for the new simmers, SURE, for the hardcore and long term investments, NOPE.
once all your favorite planes are available on this platform its over brother, look at p3dv5 for example ground textures and flight modeling compare to this 1? am not in alpha but 1 thing for sure this sim has beta potential than any sim I've experience, its a game changer.
@@m00n_pInK Not really fair since you can update the textures to 8k samples for free with literally a 2 click installer from DD. Even so, many installs of v4 and more so v5 genuinely look close to MSFS, my v5 install honest to god looks almost as good as MSFS at areas will full 5/5 scenery. (9900KS@5.4Ghz, 2080Ti). The only real gain of MSFS seems to be most areas of the world having generated 5/5 scenery (of course some areas look ass because, bing).
Not necessarily. Performance on the older sims is just not there. Spends thousands on top end gear to run them and to make the older sims look great with all the add-ons etc, it just struggles to run. Constantly finicking and making compromises. If i spent thousands on my old car over the years to try to keep it running smooth and look pretty because I had no other option, and a new car finally came out that runs smooth with out me having to tinker with it and looks better, I'm looking at that
Your last line is really the most telling what's likely in the future..."for new simmers SURE..." Software development is a business, they continually need new revenue to survive - To even just make improvements, and to maintain what they've already created. If the new install base isn't there anymore there isn't really a viable business to continue on.
I am having a hard time justifying this sim WITHOUT VR, I agree it looks fantastic, but when you have flown FlightSims with VR for me there just isn't anyway I can go back to 2d
For me personally, this most likely will be the end of the line for my use of P3D. I really could care less about what AI traffic and ATC is like in MSFS2020. Almost 100% of my sim time is spent on VATSIM. From what I've heard, I believe PMDG and FSLabs both have plans to bring their aircraft over to MSFS2020. I don't believe we'll have any need for an Orbx level of scenery as that will all be included. Perhaps some add-on airports where they haven't been modeled will be in order.
I wish that Laminar research (the X-Plane developer) would work together with Microsoft so we would have the planes and the flight model out of X-Plane and the scenery from Microsoft. That would be the ultimate flightsim
@Victor Okeke X-Plane calculates the aerodynamic pressure on each square centimeter of a given airframe. So, how is MS flightmodelling going to be "superior" to that ?
it would be just as ill advised (as thinking this will be the "end of the line" for other sims) to think a mediocre system will run this sim at any capacity even close to what you see in their highly edited, thoroughly choreographed, and post processed marketing videos! The use of "theoretical" or "planned" or "proposed" is (and will always be) the issue with these videos; until this sim is released and actually putting into action what they have only so far claimed, you must assume (to consolidate all the aforementioned words) - something I can't use as a basis for investment, just my two pennies.
If you look at dcs promotional videos they look not so different from fs2020 ones. I like dcs, but the real graphic quality is not the same of their videos. I fear something similar is happening here.
Until Microsoft starts unveiling that this content can only be delivered by monthly subscription plans. I’m definately interested and overwhelmed but live streaming this content can impossibly be done without additional cost instead of a one time fee.
The monthly subscription business model has been MS manta for a while now. Everything they do and market is structured to drive to their subscription website pages. If you were to search for onenote 2003 you will be re-dericted promptly to their brand new onenote 2020 which is not available for free despite all claims on the web. MS has even retroactively 'updated' older versions of their software to no longer be runnable as intended and then do a re-direct to their new versions which are ALL on a subscription model.
Yes, looking forward lets hope they deliver. However anyone with years of experience in flightsim releases will be waiting for the details other than pretty graphics. Even our latest releases still overlook ATC and leave it to third parties to pick up the short falls.
It's a totally different beast focusing on aerial and joint combat, the aerodynamic and weather simulations in DCS compared to these others are somewhat sub-par but none of them do the weapons and sensor systems etc. that DCS does so there'll always be a place for it
I'm 32 years old. The only flight sim game I've played was over a decade ago and I honestly couldn't remember its name. But just as a general PC gamer for most of my life, I have been looking forward to this since its announcement. Followed a few TH-cam accounts that I would not have even been interested in before. Watched a lot of videos about it over the months. And I'm still looking forward to playing it, as a game anyway. Just wanted to share that, as you noted at the end of this video, this game/simulator is attracting a lot of attention. Even from those of us who know nothing about flight sims.
To be honest it’s much more comparable to Google Earth VR which to me looks and runs better than the current Alpha seems to. And in VR. Also they will have a lot of work to do to catch up to XP11 for the feel of flying which is very natural in that game.
I am one of those people too. I never played a flight sim until discovering MSFS 2020. I built a pc, got a honeycomb yoke, trustmaster tpr, saitek throttle and downloaded x-plane 11 to get started. I can’t wait for this sim!
>Done server side and streamed to users *Colossal order has entered the chat* (Thats a reference to how Sim City was sorta not really streamed server side and Collossal order snuck in and delivered Cities Skylines, sinking Sim City)
Vitor Pereira you’re right 100%. That is the only scenario where they make it. The fact is Microsoft is offering all of these features out of the box. Whereas the other platforms wouldn’t even come close And you would still end up paying for these add-ons.
That already exists for X-Plane, after a fashion. X-plane isn't dead to me until FS2020 will let me shoot the wings off of all those wanna be PPL holders who can't make medical while using my drifting old Thrustmaster T16k going "hehehe, A10 gun go Brrt" into the general chat because I can't be assed to use the radio. :P
Just to clarify, VFR refers to visual flight rules. It is the opposite of IFR, which is Instrument Flight Rules. Even if you are following your GPS and on a flight plan, you still maybe flying VFR. On other sims, you could fly VFR. You may need to use GPS or some other navigation system, but that does not mean you were not flying VFR. Now, I understand what you meant to say. That you could fly using only the features of the terrain. Flying "VFR" isn't the correct term. The correct term is "pilotage". When you fly using pilotage, you are using only the terrain, cities, roads, etc. to find your way. Anyway, what you meant was correct, just got the terms sort of wrong. It will awesome to fly using just the natural terrain to plot your way. Using the landscape to navigate is huge in backcountry flying. It will be nice to practice in a sim. All in all, thanks for the update!
VFR also includes bulidings, structures, roads and highways not just terrain, what he meant was that you can totally navigate by just looking outside the window in order to get to your destination referring to the amount of detail this new sim has on offer. You will always be looking at your instruments when flying for example altitude, speed and all the other basic stuff but not rely on any navigational instruments instead looking out to spot features down below to aid you.
@Errol Ikalia Like HiWetcam said, VFR is a category of flight where you look outside to control the orientation of the plane. And visibility and cloud clearances are involved. You don't really need to see the terrain at all when flying VFR (look up "VFR over the top"). Most pilots today, use a GPS when flying VFR to a destination. I use my Garmin 696. I agree that OA meant looking only at the terrain to navigate. My point was that he was using the term VFR incorrectly. When a pilot navigates using ONLY the features on the ground, its called pilotage. Its not really a big deal, I just know OA likes to be accurate in what he says.
zero mention of the ability to build and create your own planes in Xplane, arguably its greatest feature. I remember hearing how Reno air race pilots would use Xplane to practice in because the results almost exactly matched real life. There is a creative aspect to Xplane that just doesn't exist anywhere else, unrivaled.
I've been with MSFS ever since I was a kid...I never went down the XPlane route...so I'll stick with them. I've been away from it for a while, but I'll definitely come back for this
As a flight instructor, I can only guess how much time passes before we actually use this new software to train students. And of course the good stuff comes out AFTER my graduation lol
Everything about the game is just insanely impressive. I dont even play flight sim games but damn. I mean look at like @6:00 you can see the texture on the plastic of that interior crossbeam when looking out the window. Just a small detail but its like so intricate the level of attention put into the game
@@PLACEonPLATE I have VR but can't stand the lower res, I must be the only one hehe. I have the oculus rift. You're gonna need a freaking beast to run FS2020 in VR.
The only thing the competition might struggle with is how Microsoft has used ai to make every building and every tree 3d. If other developers can get the geometry and textures, the actual graphical effects are pretty standard and wouldn't be hard (relatively) to replicate or even do better
CMDR lJITimate the fact That Microsoft owns Bing maps Also means they have a huge advantage when it comes to updating scenery and land class data, And that would just be streamed to the user. Where as the other platforms don’t have that access so easily And would have to send out patch updates. Not to mention MFS2020 is providing this out of the box.
So the thing for me is the “out of the box” product. Yes sure xp11 can look this good, and it’s flight model is definitely the best we’ve seen, but I have to spend hours and days learning how to use ortho to get it to look even mildly close to the out of the box scenery that fs2020 seems to have.
Wait until you have to start paying for this content. Do you really thik that MS is going to continue to stream this from their servers for free, forever?
@@davidwhite7002 the cost will be comparable to what we spend on other flight sims in general. What is really interesting to me is how quick xplane advocates went from superiority rhetoric to defending xplane as a sim. How quickly times change
I doubt it'll de-throne DCS: World. But then they are two very different things. Hopefully it will inspire other flight sims to improve in certain areas.
Another, Well we really don't know the details about anything but let hope it works this way! The best thing to do is turn off the sound and just watch the Video! Thanks for the effort.
The graphics are stunning, so are the requirements for hardware and speed of the always-on internet connection to make it look that good. The other sims will still work just fine, I'll wait and see what sort of experience ordinary people with ordinary computers and ordinary internet connections have. And still no mention of price even though it's one of the most asked questions, not even whether it will be one off purchase like every other sim or software as a service like so many other microsoft products. I'm keen, but I'm also happy with what I have now and not going to throw money at a new sim just because if you throw enough money at it it looks amazing.
Users will have the ability to pre-cache areas to fly in, there will be 3 different modes. If your internet is crappy you can pre-download an area. As you fly over an area, that area is cached. They've already confirmed it will be an XBOX Game Pass game for the next-gen XBOX (which will blow most ordinary people's PCs away). Seeing how that is subscription-based, I think they'll offer a one-time purchase option for PC users such as myself.
I played flight simulator on 8 bit console when I was young. I never had a chance to have a good PC until now. I have 64 GB DDR4, RTX 2080Ti, i9 processor. I bought it on my own money(for haters who say your parents bought it). I cannot wait for this game.
Dr Chad ThunderCock well, unfortunately MS still can’t simulate physics as ED even with their “rich” dev team. It’s sad when u see a fully loaded 747 taking off from a grass runway. 🤦♂️
I'll have to wait and see how it will perform on my rig first- I can't afford to upgrade and probably won't for the next year or so. Also given I mainly fly in DCS at the moment unless they roll out a fully featured combat system as well I'll probably keep playing it a lot.
but flight sim is for flying, not crashing, i mean, if you have a hard landing or a ground damage, damage models would be fantastic, but when you literally crash into a mountain at 260 knots, i prefer the game stops
Got to say, the local airports for GA look worse than most Orbx airports in FSX. General scenery looks great, but they need to work on small airports. Not all of us want to fly commercial jets out of commercial airports. MS is missing the boat if they overlook adding beautiful Orbx quality grass strip ports, and other well decorated small hamburger run airports ;) Just say'n.
Nothing still comes close to DCS World for combat aircraft, now if MS flight simulator had ground war vehicles and combat aircraft added, then maybe I agree with your title, but right now and NO VR in ms flight simulator, I would say NO
It wouldn't surprise if, after a few years of FS2020 under their belt, Microsoft releases Combat Simulator using the same engine. Regardless, the customer wins.
@@Retrohertz Fun fact: in haydays of MSFS (late 90s early 2000s) Microsoft did released a line of Combat flightsims (google Microsoft Combat Flight Simulator) based on the MSFS engine. They wren't as successful as their civilian counterparts.

I've been waiting for this moment for years and I'm not sure I'll be able to enjoy it. I'm 71 and Corona virus is around the corner. Microsoft, please don't delay. It will be a great new base game for third party developers to expand on with dlc that matters instead of having to focus solely on making the sim look better as it’s what they have been doing the past 15 years for FSX. This game can change the landscape completely, especially with a company as huge as Microsoft behind it. FSX was legendary, not in terms of flight dynamics and such, and it could crash a million times which frustrated the crap out of me. But this, it’s 2020 and the detail and immersion will be right in front of you during launch.

Um.. .no. The flight model of previous microsoft sims was not "subjectively" worse. It was absolutely definitely worse. Even FSX did not hold a candle to competitors in that regard. Whether that's the most important aspect for you however is another matter.
While true the customer focus of FSX was different. It wasn't meant for "hardcore simmers" or even professional simulators, but more towards gamers/mainstream. It's pretty hard to top the flight model of X-Plane, since Austin is a genius when it comes to physical flight model simulation. Yet the graphics engine of X-Plane 11 and the fidelity is not the slightest on par with what we see of FS2020. Visually (even with paid addons) and definitely performance-wise. The switch to Vulcan will only partially make up for it. In FS2020 they seem to put a lot of work into the flight modelling, working with manufacturers and test pilots to make the out of the box planes as realistic as possible. Also the airflow simulation has come a long way since FSX. We'll see what the result will be.
@@tiberius8390 I think an important thing to note is that regardless of which approach one uses (pre-calculated aero-table like FS games vs CFD/"Blade-Element" I think Austin calls his implementation), it all comes down to the quality of the individual aircraft and who puts the information into the tools for the sim. The biggest difference is that Austin's approach is easier for the small group or even individual to manhandle, that's basically what plane maker is. You can tell the effects of the different approaches based purely on just how many 'I tried to make an airplane' things exist on XPlane's old forums...
they have already said there will be no VR support for the first year or so, they said if they do VR they are going to do it right, as many game shave shitty VR implementation. and proper VR takes time. Also, it's never claimed to be a milsim so yeah obviously the game with no combat in it and no weapons isn't going to be as good as a milsim.

Have you not heard the feedback from some of the TH-camrs at the Renton event? Some are actual flyers and had hours of hands-on experience. Though there are no helicopters at this time, but it's a top wishlist item.
Well for me, because I have a heavy investment already into X-Plane, after 5 years flying in the sim . I'm taking a wait and see approach. I plan on waiting about 18 months after release, before I entertain the idea of buying MS Flight Simulator. There's a lot of unanswered questions out there. And I think after sometime after release, We'll get the questions answered and determine if it measure up to all the hype or not, Time will tell. Until then, I'll keep flying in XPlane 11 and produce my videos over on my YT Channel #dionm01 Cheers Dion
It might end up being like Win10, take some time to get all those bugs etc sorted out. I won't be an early adopter. I don't enjoy encountering / fixing software problems. I prefer to be flying. While I have improved on some of the airports I regularly fly into, scenery isn't the be all and end all of flight sims. How the aircraft itself flies is far more important. The couple I mostly fly are very good. Yes, I might go over in a year or so time but then it'll comes down to good old cash. How much is it going to be?
It will not be the end of the line for other sims. People still play MSFS 2004. Certain sim platforms are preferred on mobile devices. Certain platforms are geared to VR. The novelty of MSFS 2020 right out of the box centers on the fact that it looks like a current sim maxed out with multiple addons.

As long as there'll be great support for mods, I can totally see this being one of the greatest games of all time.
Skyrim vibes....Intensify.
Microsoft has already spoken on this. They are already working with third party companies to create fully fleshed out mods. If third party companies can do it, players should be able to make mods. Even obsidian any mentioned it in this video that mods are coming.

They said they want to work on it after release

FS2020 is phenomenally incredible in terms of Visuals, but a LOT of work is left.

Jeff Please clarify, are you all in on FS2020?
Not necessarily. Performance on the older sims is just not there. Spends thousands on top end gear to run them and to make the older sims look great with all the add-ons etc, it just struggles to run. Constantly finicking and making compromises. If i spent thousands on my old car over the years to try to keep it running smooth and look pretty because I had no other option, and a new car finally came out that runs smooth with out me having to tinker with it and looks better, I'm looking at that
Your last line is really the most telling what's likely in the future..."for new simmers SURE..."
Software development is a business, they continually need new revenue to survive - To even just make improvements, and to maintain what they've already created.

P3D is essentially a port of the FSX platform. No matter how they extend and modify it, it's the same fundamental engine
I wish that Laminar research (the X-Plane developer) would work together with Microsoft so we would have the planes and the flight model out of X-Plane and the scenery from Microsoft. That would be the ultimate flightsim
Microsoft will never work together. Laminar best shot is Google
The two sims work in different ways. Microsoft have nothing to gain when they have the money to build whatever they like.

it would be just as ill advised (as thinking this will be the "end of the line" for other sims) to think a mediocre system will run this sim at any capacity even close to what you see in their highly edited, thoroughly choreographed, and post processed marketing videos! The use of "theoretical" or "planned" or "proposed" is (and will always be) the issue with these videos; until this sim is released and actually putting into action what they have only so far claimed, you must assume (to consolidate all the aforementioned words) - something I can't use as a basis for investment, just my two pennies.

If you were to search for onenote 2003 you will be re-dericted promptly to their brand new onenote 2020 which is not available for free despite all claims on the web. Yes, talking about a ‘game-changer’ here. This is it!
We have to see it on our own computers before we can make any judgments about the future of the competition.
@Errol Ikalia
Like HiWetcam said, VFR is a category of flight where you look outside to control the orientation of the plane.
@@Retrohertz Fun fact: in haydays of MSFS (late 90s early 2000s) Microsoft did released a line of Combat flightsims (google Microsoft Combat Flight Simulator) based on the MSFS engine. They wren't as successful as their civilian counterparts.
This smoothness and detail is what I hope Arma 4 will have
I dismiss it out of hand.
DCS still has the market cornered for milsim
IL2 for WW2 and DCS for modern jets.
Ok and how is this related to this game? You’re like comparing counter strike to a strategy game.
@@KubiG1000 It's not even remotely like comparing counter strike to a strategy game. It's more like comparing a flight sim to a flight sim. Because DCS is a flight sim. So saying, 'end of the line for other flight sims' is nonsense. Pretty simple, actually. Not a false comparison at all. He didn't specify mil or civ.
I've been waiting for this moment for years and I'm not sure I'll be able to enjoy it. I'm 71 and Corona virus is around the corner. Microsoft, please don't delay. I purchased X-Plane 11 when my FSX wouldn't work with my new PC, but surprisingly X-Plane 11 worked poorly and when I contacted them for help, they simply told me I needed a better PC and gave me a configuration of no less than a $5 thousand.
do you need some help w compenents?
Imagine using WW2 recon photo's and recreating the world of the 1940's, with a bit of guesswork to..The Germans had most of the southern uk photographed.
I hope they will include the flight school like they did in FSX. They will need it to attract new simmers
Will i get my hot air balloon to travel mach 4?
Inverted.
Space shuttle status.
MS Flight Simulator 2035 Ultimate: "Am I a joke to you?"
Got my Thrustmaster rudder pedals and now saving for Honeycomb yoke. I will wait for eventual VR support as not too keen to play on my 27in monitor tbh
Honeycomb will also be releasing Rudders, let's hope their good.
@@lhorbrum1818 "they're" :p
only going vr once a decent head set that doesnt weight 4 pounds or gives me a headache after 10 min comes out.... tried it once and wont do it again, sitting there for hours and hours with a hot screen 2 inches from your eyes is a recipe for blindness
Um..
Superb video and discussion. Many thanks!
4 "words": No VR, no buy !
VR is planned in the future for FS2020.
@@3dfreak2000 I will patiently wait, no vr, no buy
@@rmolinajr1 your computer may not even be able to run the base version, and you are asking for VR... makes me chuckle
That not 5 ? 🤔
I am SO excited for this game. It looks breathtaking.
It looks great but I doubt it'll beat DCS for milsim. Also I won't be buying it if there's no VR support
they have already said there will be no VR support for the first year or so, they said if they do VR they are going to do it right, as many game shave shitty VR implementation. and proper VR takes time. Also, it's never claimed to be a milsim so yeah obviously the game with no combat in it and no weapons isn't going to be as good as a milsim.
@@bruiserbrown9258 terrible game.
@@timc7595 Sim, not game.
@@jjohnson1667 Flight "sims" are multi-million dollar contraptions that real life pilots use for training. This thing running on a silly desktop PC with your toy joystick is just a game.
The visuals looked great. For me, the game will cost me a new machine because that is what it will require of me to be able to enjoy it properly.

It won't be as impressive as people think. At the very least, don't pre-order...

vr or nothing!
@Derp 101 honestly it should have been implemented in the beginning and not a afterthought. Microsoft is insane if they didn't think flight sim lovers wouldn't want this in VR.
@Derp 101 Because simulator is the genre that gives best experience in VR at current stage of its development and IMO is the only genre that makes sence to be put in VR at all.
@Victor Okeke have you tried x plane 11.50 vulkan in vr? Very smooth performance with high rendering settings. No problem reading most displays and panels
I have no plans to replace all my other sims, some but not all.
I'll not buy this one before I get serious reviews about how realistic the flight model is, especially for helicopters :)
Have you not heard the feedback from some of the TH-camrs at the Renton event? Some are actual flyers and had hours of hands-on experience. Though there are no helicopters at this time, but it's a top wishlist item.
This will be first simulator I will try since Win98 I think :P Can not wait!
I think you can use VR for this sim too.
Don’t give this game to bin laden or his friends 💀
the hype is all but real. get hyped people. this sim in the hands of third parties like PMDG is going to be something to see. As an Alpha tester i can be HYPED!
I still see people defending x plane against fs2020,ok x plane was better as fsx/p3d in many ways but its no match to fs2020 god dammit!!!!
No more twikings, installing and uninstalling crashing bullshit!! I just wanna fly
I think FS2020 is going to drive the next generation of pilots.
Well after the covid depression, there wont be many pilot jobs for a while
Revolutionary? not if does not have VR!...or if performance sucks!
It will have VR.
they have already said there will be no VR in the beginning and if they do do VR it will take time because they will do it right, and not a half ass implementation. also 90% of the game is ran on their servers, performance is only going to suck if your internet sucks.
@@bruiserbrown9258 I would rather a half ass implementation of vr than that lame excuse. At least I would really know they are working on it and not just something "we'll, maybe, implement" one year after release
Very nice video with very soothing voice 😊
