The gifts have significance, Matt's mallet, his wife passed the bar, Mitch, glasses from his video "Your Power", Scott, )and Mark) had just written a children's book, Kevin, salt shaker, they had done a taste with 4 people having sugar in a teaspoon and 1 having salt and you had to guess which one got salt,,,yes Kevin. Great reaction, it's such a feel good song as well !!
Little side story: when the group were slated to film the video, Kirstie was too sick to attend, so the videographers and PTX came up with in improvised scenario....the four guys would be gathered for Christmas dinner at Mitch's house and Kirstie would be filmed separately posing as the Christmas fairy who made all things Christmassy happen for the gang. She would make the tree and candles light up, the treats appear, and the gifts as well. Plus the puppies! It worked out so well that if you didn't know about the reason Kirstie was missing from the gathering, you'd think the whole thing was always planned that way.
November 1st they are releasing a new original Christmas song called, Meet me Next Christmas which coincides with the release of the Netflix movie, Meet me Next Christmas (which they are in)!!! They are my Christmas band 100%!!! Definitely a replacement of Mariah.
Pentatonix never disappoints! Kirsten has an incredible cover of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" as a tribute to Dorothy's dog Toto from "The Wizard of Oz" from an awards show for famous dogs. It's very beautiful as you might imagine.
NO ONE does Christmas like Pentatonix!!! So many AMAZING originals and covers to explore! 👏🏻❤💚 I hope you get to their Christmas Around the World album (Yes, they did some of them with instruments) as it has FABULOUS collaborations, carols, covers and originals.
O yes!! Now I am on cloud nine. My heart and soul is singing. Their voices ( and them as people) lift my spirit. Christmas time = Pentatonix time. Thank you thank you. They are my heart-people and from the beginning of your channel you and your family who we know through you count right up there. O man, no words. Greetings from South Africa. Yes it is a original.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE their Christmas original songs so much! “That’s Christmas to Me,” “Kid on Christmas,” “Evergreen,” “Star On Top,” “Thank You” - all of them. They are releasing a new original on Friday “Meet Me Next Christmas,” which is featured in their upcoming movie out next week!
Pentatonix has used instruments and extra vocal layers on some of their Christmas songs for a long time, depending on the sound they want. You mentioned "wall of sound"; this was written in the style of 1960s US record producer Phil Spector, who invented the "wall of sound", adding multiple layers of instruments doubling the same part, extra vocals, etc. Example -- Spector's 1960s production of Tina Turner's "River Deep". The style was copied by pop artists like the Beach Boys, Simon & Garfunkel and ABBA, and later by Jim Steinman for his Bat out of Hell album.
As a Pentaholic, I feel this song rivals several of the top modern Christmas originals (such as the one by Mariah Carey. . . you know the one). The uninitiated probably would not agree, but given the style of the song and PTX's fame, I was really surprised that this song did not catch on much more than it did. The same goes for "New Year's Day" that should appear on every recommendation playlist at the start of every year but ended up barely a blip on the radar.
There are some amazing PTX songs without videos that NEVER get reacted to! Please look into Wish Upon A Star and Once Upon a December! In that last one they even recreate the old time carousel 🎠 organ music with just their voices! It's AMAZING! 💖
Pay attention to the gifts. Mitch's glasses are a link to his Messer persona, Matt's gavel is referencing his wife getting the bar, Scott and his husband wrote a children's book. Not sure what Kevin's gift was but it will have some relevance to his life.
I think Kevin’s are a salt and pepper shaker. My assumption is that it relates to a TT that PTX did with the spoonfuls of sugar and 1 salt. They never gave us a “reveal” to let us know who actually got the salt. My theory is that this is the way they told us that it was Kevin… They have a long history of pranking each other.
Thanks for the reaction. The presents have secret jokes. Matt received a gavel bec his wife just passed the bar, Scott got the book bec he and his husband published childrens books, Kevin got salt and pepper shakers because a game he played and Mitch got dark glasses from Matt maybe bec the first time they met Matt in his college before Having left, Mitch borrowed his dark glasses. Sang with it on stage.
Love this song. It is their original song. No instruments. Kid at Christmas is another original ft Megan Trainor. It is so good also. Their Christmas songs are great. Their version of O Holy Night is unbelievable.
Here are a couple more fantastic original Christmas songs from Pentatonix: "Thank you" (th-cam.com/video/D1IeDyG-pgM/w-d-xo.html ) and "That's Christmas to Me" (th-cam.com/video/pFjdfjrtf1Q/w-d-xo.html
The reason you don't already know this song is that it's a #Pentatonix original; it was written by Kirstin and Kevin specifically for their 2023 Christmas album, "Greatest Christmas Hits." I'm glad you appreciate the video on this one; it's delightful. Did you notice that Scott is the only person who actually *receives* a kiss underneath the mistletoe? It happens at 4:47. I think the reason you're having trouble telling where the sounds are coming from is that we never see them all singing together in this video. Kirstin was ill and had to film her part separately which tends to make the video a bit confusing.
There are SO many Christmas songs that PTX have written, or turned upside down. th-cam.com/video/D1IeDyG-pgM/w-d-xo.htmlsi=W9_f5zMEw_uB89TV This is another heart warming original.
Hey Doll! Great fun to watch your face! Boo Mariah! (hahahaha) Here are the links for your Christmas gift to your PTX fans. Oh Holy Night (Avi version, no video): th-cam.com/video/MptnOJsIlyE/w-d-xo.htmlsi=DlVsiCYKe9OwmFYE and (the Matt version): th-cam.com/video/ReJAU2mXm8w/w-d-xo.htmlsi=O9cCUBN2TmmOauqc. Not to compare Avi vs Matt, but to see their incredible growth! Merry Christmas PTX style!

Thanks for taking the time to share this. So much attention to detail.
Why doesn't this get more airplay????????? Such a crime.
A mystery of the universe.....
Just a great song and video.
It was new last year, maybe we’ll hear it more this year. 🤞
“Please Santa Please” by Pentatonix was written by Emma-Lee, Karen Kosowski, Kevin Olusola & Kirstin Maldonado.
Thanks for letting me know!

Christmas Time & Pentatonix! A perfect match! ❤
They are perfectionists.❤

Great song and video! Thanks so much for watching.
I love this one a catchy PTX original 👍
The Gatlin Brothers” all the gold in California is in a bank in someone else’s name” is a great song from 70s . Loved Larry’s voice growing up
They did a making of video of this. It's well worth watching.

Yep, Kevin and Kirsten and a couple others
yes, there's a little bit of instrumentation in this
Yup, some Mariah vibes there. I love PSP, so danceable

Great that you hit PTX again, but Christmas in October reeks of retail sales.
I hate that in retail and here i am doing the same :)
I also reacted to one of their Christmas songs in July. I have to be locked up for sure! :D
Please listen to Come all ye faitfull
Hoping you get a chance to react to Twenty One Pilots again . Car Radio or Ode to Sleep would be awesome. ❤
This does sound very Mariah Careyish.
Could you please react to walked through hell by Anson Seabra
Recommend their live performance of Somebody To Love. Link: th-cam.com/video/P_sNvHXtOlY/w-d-xo.htmlsi=PBdoM-P774nqQS9U
