What an amazing analysis of Nostradamus as Rob's story. I never thought of it like that, but it makes so much sense. Now I will be listening from a different point of view.
    1. Invincible Shield
    2A. Angel of Retribution
    2B. Nostradamus
    3. Firepower
    4. Redeemer of Souls

I loved this episode. Loved all the different perspectives. Jay made me wanna go listen to Nostradamus again. I love how he correlated the songs and their track listing to Rob's autobiography. Judas Priest is my all time favorite band and I discovered them when I was a teen during Ram it Down. My favorite album is Painkiller. I stuck with them all through the Ripper era and also supported Rob in his solo ventures. But when Rob returned to Priest it was like I won the jackpot because I never got to see them all together live. I saw Rob solo and Priest with Ripper prior of course. I got to see them on my birthday weekend at Ozzfest front row in the pit in front of Glenn and I was in heaven. I actually had lawn seats but someone saw my sister and I talking about Priest complaining about lawn and they gave us their pit tickets as they were leaving early. Birthday miracle. I've seen them tons of times since of course.
    1. Firepower
    2. Invincible Shield
    3. Redeemer of Souls
    4. Angel of Retribution
    5. Nostradamus
I love all these albums except Nostradamus. I bought that the day it came out like every other Priest album and my sister and I sat on the couch in dimmed lighting with notepads at hand to listen and then review. 80 some minutes later we were very fatigued and disappointed. I do think there are a few great songs though and agree it would be a great EP as Jeff suggested. Lol.
Firepower is very Painkiller like so how could I resist as my number one? No Surrender, Evil Never Dies, Spectre ( my favorite song) , Children of the Sun, title track ECT. Perfect album. Lone Wolf is the odd ball but it has a good groove and I appreciate the change of pace.
Invincible Shield was almost my number one. John , I actually think it has way more variety than Firepower. I agree with Jeff. You get 70s, 80s, 90s and now. Rob is definitely flexing his vocal range and styles here. I have the Target bonus edition which is a must have. The song Fight of Your Life sounds like it could be on Hell Bent for Leather. Gates of Hell sounds like it could be on Defenders of the Faith. Two of my favorite tracks. Love Sons of Thunder, title track, Escape from Reality ECT. Trial by Fire really grew on me and I love it now. I do not like the AI album cover.
Redeemer of Souls is underrated. Halls of Valhalla rules. Metalizer, Cold Blooded, title track, Dragonaught, Secrets of the Dead. I love the bonus track Creatures.
Angel of Retribution is great but it doesn't flow well. I love Deal with the Devil, Demonizer, Hellrider, Judas Rising.
I love Ian Hill and appreciate his rock solid bass playing was cited especially as a bassist myself. I love his playing best on the 70s albums though. He was more free then to shine. Great episode. 🤘

Glad you dug it Rebecca and thanks for your comment, all great points. I loved Jay's interpretation of "Nostradamus" made me think of the album in a different light.

Really enjoyed that episode. As far as Nostradamus is concerned, when I first heard they were doing it I thought it was a joke, it reminded me of Spinal Tap's Stonehenge. Sadly, it wasn't. I think I've listened to it maybe twice.
Glenn Tipton's solo in Loch Ness is fantastic, that drawn out note. Wonderful. Oh, and the image of a Broadway version of the chorus is going to stay with me now...

    Subject to change, but:
    1. Firepower. Production quality is much better than Redeemer Of Souls and I like most of the songs. Favorite song is "Lightning Strike."
    2. Redeemer Of Souls. Despite not liking the production quality as much as with the others (minus Nostradamus), I most of the songs resonate with me more than with most of the other albums. Also, one of my heart rats had chosen the title track as his favorite song of all time. (And kinda opposite of Jeff, he heard Turbo first and loved it then heard Painkiller and looked at me like I was insane when I said it was Judas Priest.) My favorite song is either "Halls Of Valhalla" or the title track.
    3. Angel Of Retribution. Haven't heard it enough to tell if it's above or below any of the other albums aside from Nostradamus. Favorite song might be "Hellrider."
    4. Invincible Shield. Like AOR, I haven't heard it enough to discern if it's better than the other 3, but it's above Nostradamus. Favorite track is "Crown Of Horns."
    5. Nostradamus. "Revelations" is one of my all-time favorite tracks, but most of the album isn't for me. It has some symphonic metal aspects, but falls flat in that regard (symphonic metal is one of my favorite sub genres).

Invincible Shield was only the second album I'd heard from the modern era. The last couple of weeks I've been playing catch up on old and new. I got Firepower first then Redeemer Of Souls. Nostradamus only occasionally pops up so I will have to wait to get that. I was impressed by Firepower but need that and Redeemer to sink in. Invincible Shield is great but Angel is a good follow up to Painkiller in respect of ROR. Loch Ness is in my DNA anyway as I had family living there and was up there around the time of Stained Class.

Cool show, dudes! I’ve fallen hopelessly in love with Invincible Shield, so that would be my number one. If it’s Priest’s final studio album, l feel that they’ve gone out on a high note… much like George Costanza! 😉 If they put out another studio record, then it’s just more cool music to check out.
I came into JP with Screaming for Vengeance in 1982, so l don’t mind their eighties output at all. Of course, some albums are better than others, but that’s how life works. A song like “Out in the Cold” raises up the much maligned Turbo to me. It’s hands down the best track on that release, to me anyway. Much like Queen - and JG’s buddy Martin Popoff has stated - Priest’s 70s stuff is nearly flawless. So, that’s the yardstick that we always measure the rest of their oeuvre against.
Keep up the fine work, Alchemist!
Cheers from The Big Apple. 🍎

This era is ok, prefer 70s and early 80s up to Defenders. Judas Rising is an unbelievable song and the best from the era, i do love Invincible shield, but Nostradamus is the worst album of the whole catalogue
