I'm honestly kinda surprised to find out it's against the law to overdose. Seems pretty dumb, honestly. You almost die, you're going to be stuck with a huge hospital bill, AND you're arrested.

@@piercedviking8058 suicide or attempting suicide is also a crime 🤷🏼‍♂️ having experienced the life of an addict, I can say that it would without a doubt be completely shitty to be in jail during withdrawals….but at least you’re monitored, fed (if you can even eat), given a bed to sleep on (if you sleep at all), and if you’re lucky you’ll be clean long enough to decide to get even more help.
Drugs and addiction are no fucking joke and SO many people simply don’t understand what it does to you and your brain. They think a short detox is all it takes to “cure” you.
“Just say no! Just don’t do it! Why would you CHOOSE to do this instead of being a normal member of society?!”
After a certain point, an addict doesn’t have much of a choice. Your brain will convince you to do whatever it takes to just feel better/normal. No matter who suffers. A 5 day detox is hardly going to “fix” anything. Just 5 days of suffering before you go back out and find more drugs.
I felt so bad for the guy hearing him literally cry for help because he had lost all control. Drugs are SO much stronger than almost anyone thinks and extremely underestimated. I *really* hope he got the help he genuinely needed. He’s got a long road ahead of him.

Yep exactly! I was only 23yrs old when I got hooked on meth many many nights & days seeing and hearing things that aren't there and especially at night it was terrifying! Because I was also on the streets homeless just feeling so hopeless and lost. I was at my lowest at that point in my life & no one wanted or even cared enough to even ask if I was okay. In the freezing cold with nothing but a very thin jacket on me and if anyone did talk to me they all just wanted something from me.(Sex to be exact.) & I was not comfortable with that. So they no longer wanted anything to do with me there was many times I wanted help & no one cared. It's a cruel world we live in....
But luckily I'm 3yrs sober almost 4yrs sober from hard drugs! I no longer suffer like that anymore. I am so grateful to still be sober tbh I will never live like that again.

He seemed to be going through intense opiate withdrawal. That's usually not a successful way to quit. But since we refuse to treat addiction as the medical problem it is, he doesn't have a lot of options, unfortunately.

@@DustinRodriguez1_0I don't think that's purely an opiate. Problem is that with fentanyl these days, it's so laced with these weird tranquilizers and other crap, that even medical professionals find it hard to treat an overdose.

Watching Adrian absolutely broke my heart. Telling the officers to be cautious because he couldn’t remember if he had fentanyl in his pocket and that he didn’t want any harm to come to them showed his true character. Even being as high as he was, you could tell just how much of a kind, caring and genuine person he at heart. I was quite surprised at how much self awareness he displayed by asking for help and being honest about his struggles. Watching him actually brought me to tears. I genuinely hope that he was able to fight his inner demons and get the help and treatment he so desperately wanted and needed so that he could get clean and make peace with all the things that were troubling him.

Released without bond. All I see in these videos are schmucks, not cops. People in broad daylight go and rob a business up to 900$+ and nothing happens, a girl driving drunk got 12 months while a repeat offender with 21 prior arrests shot a cop, fatally I may add. Everyone was so pissed when the mayor responsible for this lawlessness came to his funeral, she was immediately told to leave, after 10 minutes she finally did, bc it was PR for her, she didn't care some cop lost his life.

One thing I always wonder about with respect to drug addicts getting arrested... how do jails deal with withdrawal? Like if police arrest an alcoholic, the DTs and seizures caused by withdrawal can kill a person. If they arrest an opiate addict, withdrawal has them puking, shooting diarrhea, flipping out because their skin is crawling and they're incapable of sleep, etc. Withdrawal can be super intense. So how do jails deal with it?

They did eventually get him water. First Responders need to be careful in situations where people are very thirsty. It's an indication of certain medical situations besides OD. Like internal bleeding for example, so that's why they didn't get him some immediately.
Also I don't think they were laughing in a mean way, just more of a shocked/disbelief sort of way. He did wander over in their direction in an odd manner.

What kind of country are we, that we dump a person who had a massive blood infection (that no doubt damaged his heart) out into the street with no support, after being on IV antibiotics for 2 months. And then, even still, some would blame the addict for relapsing, from the comfort of their armchairs, never knowing what its like to have been that ill. Like you can just ignore them or pretend that you're busy and maybe they'll go away or won't notice just how f***ed up you are. If I was a cop the first thing I would do in any interaction with the public is to grab their mobile and throw it as far away from them as possible. I also love how that woman 20:59 tries to guild trip the cop because she's a woman that's been wronged by another man that took 'her kids' and it's so incredibly insensitive and shitty from this officer to stop and confront her when she's already dealing with so much. What a joke some people are. Imagine those poor kids one day seeing their mom on TH-cam like that.
