Generally hum reference lene ke liye project 3d elements ka use karte hain aur uske saath construction / elements ka use bhi karte hain. Is tareh se projected elements firm na hokar construction mode mein project hota hai. Aap shayad kisi arc per click kar rahe ho isliye ye problem aa rahi hai.
Sir my CATIA shapes commands like rectangle, square whenever it's created and when constraints are given as in dimensions... If I give length first only one side of the rectangle will get the length while breadth will become a diagonal line. Beforei never faced this issue for dimensioning such shapes. If I gave length dimensions, both lengths would increase. But now I have to give individually dimensions and the end result will be a trapezoid

Start using geometrical constraints like vertical, horizontal and fix, this will definitely help you to control the shape.
