I get the impression that most people do allot more with their journal than me. I bought my first just this month, and there are multiple things I've realized don't work for me after trying. Color coding, sticky notes, key formats, and I just never use them.
For now, all I actually use is index and key, a 4-page 12-month future log, a monthly spread with one row per day on the left and a to-do on the right, a spread with specific to-dos for one project, and a Bookshelf spread where I enter books I've read as rectangles to make it look like a book.
That's not so much a "wish I'd known before I started", just things I've learned in 10 days of journaling. I went into this knowing I'd have to throw shit at the wall, and that process in itself has been pretty rewarding. It seems to reveal much about how my cognitive processes work, which I think is fascinating, and I'm looking forward to learning more.

Thank you - that was great! My BuJo has been blank for 2 years because of all the pretty videos out there. I'm an artist, among other things, and the whole thing has just been too overwhelming. Glad to have stumbled across your video - appreciate especially the advice to keep it simple and the reminder to do what works for me. Aloha
