I know this will be somewhat of a burden to you as it is quite laborious BUT you can surprise your Lola Bear with PURE CALAMANSI EXTRACT. We normally cut the calamansi 1/4 on the top section as some people claim that the calamansi will taste a bit bitter if you cut it in the middle as the seeds are also cut up. And then after that squeeze into a sifter to remove the seeds and get the pulp. We normally put it in a glass bottle (we use the Sola Ice Tea from 711 as the container).
At the beginning of the video when you were driving past the fruit markets on both sides that you were probably on Santa Rosa Tagaytay Road. Hopefully you visited People's Park In The Sky when you were in Tagaytay. I never even think about being a foreigner when I'm in Tagaytay as most of the time I'm with my wife and her side of the family even if I might not blend in as good with the Filipino people. It was really an interesting time being at our house in Silang, Cavite when Taal erupted on January 12, 2020. Our house is 19km (12 miles) north of Taal so I could see most of the eruption and I felt so many volcanic earthquakes which shook the house so much . Then there were so many sirens during the night. It never even made me think about moving away and how often does anyone get to see an erupting volcano anyway.
We have different palates after all. I also agree that Bulalo is very greasy and I prefer Nilagang Baka. Super agree with Lola that calamansi is a good match for any Filipino dishes even some deserts (we add calamansi to Leche Flan to balance the sweetness). And it’s super easy to grow.
Hi Jessica! I think there’s already calamansi in South Korea. I saw it in 2 Days 1 Night (I think season 3). Also, there’s a Korean store near our workplace that sells bottled concentrate calamansi extract (from in Korea!!!). And there’s also powdered calamansi that’s available in Lazada and Shopee (but don’t expect much as it has a bit of an aftertaste)…but still tastes 97% calamansi. Hope your lola can bring calamansi seeds back to Korea (if it’s not banned) and start growing them. It just needs an abundant amount of sunlight and water. Even if it’s still small, some already bears fruit.
Angsarap nilang Kasama habang kumakain. Very jolly at super kwela. Lalo na si Lola. Para Siyang bumabalik sa pagkabata. Kaya pati si Tito at tita nadadamay na. I love to see our grandparents like this. Just enjoying the life and forget the past.
Whenever my family and I go to Tagaytay, we always eat at Bulalo Point. It's better tasting than any bulalo dishes that I tried. There may not be a view from their resto but their food is on point. Then we stop by Cecilia's buko pie before heading home. Love your lola. I love how she appreciates any thing that she eats.
Love this type of vlog. We get to learn about food from other places. We get to see landscapes and life in other places. We are able to meet families from other places/culture. It's fun to see reactions and it lets (especially Westerners) know how we are all the same. Great vlog! Thank you! ❤
Have you go to Rowena’s? When you go tagaytay you must go there. Their coconut tart is best there. Even their Pineapple Pie is amazing. It’s a must try. They have a lots of goodie’s also the sylvianas super yummy and affordable price.
you should've brought them to Antonio's instead. also, they could've seen that place with the most puzzles in the world called Puzzle Mansion. let them try green mango shake if they haven't tried yet. don't throw away the mangosteen peel, you can make tea out of it.
Nakakatuwa sila panuorin. Iba iba ang opinion. Diko napansin natapos na pala ang 14mins. Hehe.. Tsaka parang ako napagod sa pag e-explain ni Jessica. Iba ka talaga. ❤
Actually you can bring calamansi in korea buy 10 kilo of kalamansi then squeeze then the puree of kalamansi put in a plastic bottle and store in a freezer until its frozen well then you can bring to korea and then tranfers to freezer when youve arrive in ure home.sheild it tightly.or but fresh kalamansi its not expensive now its cost 50 to 60 pesos per kilo.
hi jessica nakakaadik panoorin yung mga vlog mo lalo na the Paborito Series, sana magkaroon ka din ng Paborito Series Episode here in Quezon Province, there's a lot of food, delicacy here in Quezon. Hope you come soon. God Bless.
I 100% agree with Lola about calamansi! It just hits different if you're pairing it with Filipino dishes - when I watch Western vids & they use lemon as alternative, I just know they won't get the full experience bec they don't use calamansi.
Here in Iligan City, some bulalo places serve it with lots of green onions, chilis, calamansi and patis on the side. It really is good with green onions!
Per my opinion... your Tita has all the right in the world to be cautious in whatever food she eats... specially considering the impacts it has on her body ... I mean health-wise . Not because something is delicious... means you're going to indulge to it like there's no tomorrow. That's her body ... and that's her to protect and her health should still be the utmost priority above enjoying something. I'm a Filipino and a Nurse.
Most the stores in Sky Ranch open around 3PM. I am always in Tagaytay Jessica, and what I can recommend to you is to visit Picnic Groove, you can bring your own foods and rent a cottage there. Most beautiful time to visit that place is 4PM, you can stay there for 10PM. Lastly for the best Bulalo, visit Bulalo Capital. One of the best bulalo that I've tasted!
Wow. I miss this place like i was there 10yrs ago. Its so nice to see that your short fam vacay did not end at boracay. So very nice jessica. God bless...
Jessica, just a piece of advice with the mangosteen so as not to waste money. As we all know Mangosteen is expensive so it's a good idea no to waste any part of it, I mean you can throw away the seeds, but the flesh and skin part, you can wash and boil them and drink them as tea. You can also freeze them as is or dry them and make them as powder for later use. You don't want to thow away the part where all the benefits of mangosteen comes from, cuz that where all the antioxidants are concentrated😉
I remember my self when my family visit me in Taiwan and I proudly show off what the locals are eating and the best tourist spot.. and pretty sure what you are feeling is what I feels when they visit me back then..
@jessica your Lola looks so happy trying all the foods there very nice to see she will try what you give her ! I best she would be able to live in the Philippines 🇵🇭 without having food issues 🎉 great to see you touring your family to experience what you experience day to day life
Jessica, your Lola is such a treasure. I really love your vlogs with her. I’m so happy she was able to visit you and spend time in the Philippines. She has such a happiness and joyful energy that you can’t help but love her ❤️
This is really nice . Touring with your family and introducing Philippines' culture and cuisine. You should also try KANSI of Bacolod City. It's like bulalo but with a twist of sourness. Philippines has a wide varieties of cuisine. I like your Lola. She's so cool!
Don't buy right away. Check other stores first and compare which is cheaper. You see, Filipino vendors are opportunistic, when they see a foreigner or a person that looks rich, they would immediately raise the price so that they can reach their quota and go home early.
I really love watching these philippine tour vlog series with your family you uploaded lately.. its super enjoyable! please upload more philippine gala vlogs with your family in the future😊❤
Hi Jessica, I love your videos, I enjoy watching your blog I’m Filipino living in the states watching your videos makes me feel better and also homesick too I’m really hoping that I can come visit the Philippines soon. Thank you for loving the Philippines and have nices day.

I live in cavite, tagaytay fruits and beef (meat) is so expensive even in the mahogany market, due to the market are for foreigners, 15 to 10 years ago its so cheap now its very expensive..

We'll, you guys aren't alone, me and my wife and I'm pretty sure many others tried to copy their style too especially their drone shots🤣 anyways, hope you and your family had a blast touring around the Philippines!
