I literally just discovered you from reading a eskrima article about the pioneers who brought the art to the state and im extremely amazed you got to learn from all those great masters, i did a little bahala na and currently learning doce pares. I think combination if different eskrima styles always ends up being a lethal system, i really hope i get to train in kalis ilustrismo in the future, im friends with one of the relatives of tatang
RIP Tatang
Lovely movement and explanation Mark.
Thank you , Mark. Love the clip here of the Sword & Strategy here. Looks like Illustrisimo Kali. Just looked like it or is it another FMA style?
where can I purchase those swords?
Nice demo.
techniques work when you have good understanding of range and timing.
Illustrisimo style doesn't really have a whole lot of fancy techniques. It's a very straight forward style, but as you said it's all about range, angles and timing. You can learn the basic footwork and techniques in a couple of months, but then spend the ten years mastering the range and timing.
armynurseboy i meant the distance from where the student attacks. Its not realitic no one swings to miss the target or attack the side when the other guy also has a weapon
Lol, my immediate thought is "Prof don't let him do that, use Ngo Cho against him"... whoops he knows that too :)
