subhan..! i have an incurable bias and love for the patiala gharana. they alone can integrate superb technique (tayyari) with unparallel sweetness in the same taan. this rare recording is a sibling to the renderings of my beloved (kind of uncle) the late - but immortal - ustad bade ghulam ali khan. who reached the final and heighest summit of north indian classical music.....beyond which i have never found anything...not even on my wildest flights of imagination.
this is what i was looking for since long. thanks for sharing this audio. Actually Ustad Aashiq ali khan was one and only classical singer to whom everybody salutes. Once again thanks for uploading this and I will request that if some body has other recordings please upload for the classical music lovers like me. thanks
Ustad Bade Ghulam Ali Khan was never a disciple of Ustad Ashiq Ali Khan, there is an interview on youtube where the great man simply says - mai apne baap aur chacha se gaana sikha, kisi aur se nahi sikha, aur mai Kasur Patiala gharane ka fard hoon. It is corraborated in many other places that Ustad Bade Ghulam Ali Khan got his training from Ustad Ali Baksh Khan (father) & Ustad Kalle Khan (Uncle). He was deeply influenced by the singing of Delhi Gharana singers namely Ustad Umrao Khan (son of Ustad Tanras Khan) but most of the later Kasur Patiala gharana singing style that was developed was his own doing. This is also the reason why he created bandish & changed the rasa of his presentation to saundarya, bhakti. Most of traditional Patiala gharana rasa is "veer".
Ustad Ashiq ali khan was the teacher of our lagend Ustad sarahang who studied raaga technique with him for period of16 years in indiaسرتاج موسیقی استادسر آ هنگ شاگرد این شخص بود آواز خوانی وراگ ها از این آقی مرحوم آموخته
