  • The video summarises the main local activities developed in 2024 by Centro di Creazione e Cultura APS within the framework of the “𝑮𝙚𝒏𝙚𝒓𝙖𝒕𝙞𝒐𝙣 𝙀𝒖𝙧𝒐𝙥𝒆. 𝙏𝒉𝙚 𝘼𝒄𝙖𝒅𝙚𝒎𝙮” programme:
The first meeting of the year was held in January at Officina Giovani in Prato, bringing together some of the ‘old’ GenE participants with new faces from MASC and VEG.GEA collectives to plan the activities to be carried out.
On February 24th, CCC artists Susannah Iheme and Marina Arienzale involved the GenE group in testing two methods developed within the Erasmus+ project “𝙀𝙉𝙂𝘼𝙂𝙀: 𝙀𝙢𝙥𝙤𝙬𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙉𝙚𝙬 𝙂𝙚𝙣𝙚𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙧𝙤𝙪𝙜𝙝 𝘼𝙧𝙩𝙞𝙨𝙩𝙞𝙘 𝙂𝙧𝙤𝙪𝙥 𝙀𝙭𝙥𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙚𝙨”, focused on implementing participatory tools to help young people become agents of change.
On June 1st, the group presented “𝙄𝒏 𝑻𝙖𝒃𝙪𝒍𝙖”, an open workshop analysing and deconstructing common terms in political manifestos, especially ahead of the local and European elections. Using collage techniques, participants created a collective artistic manifesto reflecting contemporary societal values and uncertainties.
Since February, and in parallel with the “In Tabula” workshop, the GenE group started working on “𝙑𝑶́𝙏𝑶 𝑴𝙊̀𝑫𝙊” a docufilm exploring the complexity of voting through interviews with stakeholders, members of committees, coalitions, and parties from the June 2024 municipal elections in Florence. The project is the result of a deep reflection on language and its value in nowadays society. The screening that premiered on October 5th was part of the 𝙀𝒖𝙧𝒐𝙥𝒆𝙧𝒂𝙣 𝘼𝒄𝙩𝒊𝙤𝒏 𝑾𝙚𝒆𝙠, a week in which all youth groups in the 14 countries of the GenE network organised events for democracy, sustainability and social inclusion, with the unifying motto 𝐀𝐜𝐭 𝐋𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐥 - 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐄𝐮𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐚𝐧 - 𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐤 𝐆𝐥𝐨𝐛𝐚𝐥.
CCC also continued the collaboration with the network of active citizens "Valdisieve in Transizione" and with the Municipality of Pontassieve. In this context, the GenE group participated in the second edition of the 𝙍𝒊𝙫𝒆𝙧 𝙁𝒆𝙨𝒕𝙞𝒗𝙖𝒍 taking place from September 20th to 22nd at P’Orto Community Garden: three days of talks, workshops and presentations on vital topics such as climate change, environmental resilience, river management, water crisis and future challenges. The GenE artists contributed with the talk ‘Young People and Europe’ as well as led a participatory project called “(𝙨)𝙘𝒂𝙧𝒆𝙘𝒓𝙤𝒘(𝒅)”, inviting people to create a ‘collective scarecrow’ from natural materials found on site as a symbol of community work, care and shared responsibility.
