Great job and great video. I was with you all the way diagnosing the problems and I thought I had the engine shutting off sorted when you pulled that little black box out from behind the battery. The old landy turned out alright hey. Amazing what a lick of paint can do. I havent seen one of those old telecom mobile radio phone transmitters for decades.
Geez, mate! Talk about taking that old Bruiser and turning her into a right old Cruiser again. The bog wheels suit it, but yeah - I think she's a little on the other side of legal. I know the certifiers / cops / inspection blokes on this side of the Tazzy would be drooling if they saw it with them on...but hey, they DO look the part. Amazing what 50mm of lift will do for a rig too - made it LOOK like a 4x4 instead of "Well, it MIGHT be, but I'll look inside for the second lever to make sure". Paint came up a treat too. Makes the dents look real good.....but seriously, it actually takes the eyes off them to see the whole truck instead of focussing on its careworn bits. And to be fair, the truck does look sharp. Love the finish on the sides of the flatdeck. You've given me an idea for one of my own projects there, so don't go patenting the look for a bit, eh? Bloody amazing what a bad earth will cause too. Had a VN V6 manual that had the engine light come on every time I decelerated down a hill. Four Holden dealerships had no bloody idea what was causing it, but apart from that light going on and off, the car behaved fine. One day I was under the bonnet poking around the battery area and noticed a wire with an eyelet crimp on the end that went nowhere. Followed it back to the earth cable that was connected to the battery. Now this wire looked factory, so I figured I'd have a gander around where it stretched out and sure enough, there was a hole with a captivated nut behind it that looked like it was about the right size. Found a bolt, screwed it in and the engine light problem was fixed. The wire must have been an auxiliary earth to the body that the ECM was relying on, because there was already a strap from the engine to the subframe, so...lesson of the day for me was if something electrical doesn't get what it needs, it just throws in the towel and gives up - and the best place to start is with the basics. Check the power and check the earthing points....and THEN think about what else it might be once those are ruled out. That Cruiser had a fair old stack of miscellaneous wiring though. Laughed out loud at how you dealt with it because I've done the same thing! I'll look forward to seeing more on this beasty. She definitely deserves to be out and about serving someone again as she's still got a lot to give....and it sounded like that gallop went out of the engine too because she definitely sounds smoother than she was initially. All the best
I was waiting for the day you’d fix up a landcruiser, the engine seemed to be idling abit rough which is somewhat normal for a old diesel but I would try bleeding the injector lines to help. I saved a 80 series diesel myself from a farm, similar condition, had to replace the door and right fender panel, front brake hoses, injector pump leak and a few other small things. Was my first car project so learned a lot. Ended up installing a turbo so it actually goes alright now! 👍

The end is the best bit mate , drivin in the mud and hills etc🍺🍺👍
Running good now mate just needed a little run time 🍺👍
floor pan work, very nicely done - great advice
A simple way to make a tough job easier 🍺🍺👍
I was waiting for the day you’d fix up a landcruiser, the engine seemed to be idling abit rough which is somewhat normal for a old diesel but I would try bleeding the injector lines to help. I saved a 80 series diesel myself from a farm, similar condition, had to replace the door and right fender panel, front brake hoses, injector pump leak and a few other small things. Was my first car project so learned a lot. Ended up installing a turbo so it actually goes alright now! 👍
@@Dadcandoit007Kevin ya never know mate i may do exactly that🍺👍
