    After a couple of weeks travelling I just had a chance to watch this. Great job! Very smooth. Loved the slow motion. I'd like to play around more with some gimbals, but all I'd be able to film is me walking down stairs. Not the most exciting footage unless I trip.

      Thanks Kyle! I think you would get a lot of use out of the DJI Osmo Mobile with the iPhone filming you do. I could see it being a great vlogging tool.

    Excellent video, Matt, some amazing shots. Haven't peeped any of your vids in a while so this was a good refresher 😏
    I kinda forgot you were reviewing the two cameras until the end when you mentioned their performance. From my humble amateur point of view I don't know if that's good or bad! Afterward I was wondering which camera took which shots.
    But you and you guys are impressive riders, my son thoroughly enjoyed watching them!

    Just hooked up to your channel and subscribed. Love your filming and editing and your athletic abilities. I have the Sessions 5 and was amazed to know there is a gimbal for it. Now the question is do I get the S1 or go for the K1. Either way I love having a gimbal. I have the Osmo 2 for my phone. I'm also new to editing with FCPX. You are so good at it. Did you learn on your own. Looking forward to watching more of your vlogs and keep them coming.

      Thanks for subscribing! Glad you like my vids. As for the gimbals, definitely the S1 if you're using it with the GoPro. The K1 has a camera already built in. In regards to editing with FCPX, I learned on my own mainly and used many references online for help as I got going. I have previously edited with Adobe Premiere and various versions of Final Cut Pro over the years, so that experience helps a lot too.

    Sick vid 👌🏼 have you tried using the follow mode on the gimbal rather than the pan for when your mates are doing their jumps? Might sort your problem

    • @ma77allen
      @ma77allen  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I have tried with the follow mode and with more practice I think it might work better.

    You guys skills are Awesome. And Removu is so smooth. I wanna try it! But Removu is not available in Japan..hahaha. I tried Karma Grip with 3-Way on snowboarding. Plz check it if you want. 1 minute short footage made by iMovie. I'm Looking forward to see your next vlog!

      question... have you done any film making schooling? what editing software do you use?

    • @ma77allen
      @ma77allen  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Derek Brown's GoPro adventures I'm self taught but I do run my own production company and have been working in the industry for years. I use Final Cut Pro X primarily and sometimes Adobe Premiere and After Effects.

    Hey man I was looking for reviews on the Removu S1 found your channel and subscribed awesome vid man!... I recently bought the Removu from a camera store closing business got it for $115 wasn't gonna pass it up. It'll be my first time filming with a gimbal snowboarding with friends, any tips on which mode you were using prevent from cutting off?

    • @ma77allen
      @ma77allen  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s a great deal on the S1! To be honest I have filmed with it since last year since I’m mainly using my 360 camera now, but from what I can remember I just set my GoPro to wide view or superview and mainly held the gimbal in flashlight orientation while riding. Seemed to work best that way.

    Hey man, I got my removu the other day and was using it for about 15 minutes in just slightly below freezing conditions when the battery seemed to die.
    Was just wondering what sort of usage you did making this video? Did it last a while before dying or did the cold affect your battery pretty quick! Were you using it in short bursts then packing it back up or keeping it out for a while? Great video, hope you can help me out a little!

    • @ma77allen
      @ma77allen  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Oli. Thanks for watching! As for battery life on the Removu S1, I only used one battery the whole day of filming and the temp was about -6 Celsius. I've used it in temps below -20 C and it did pretty well considering. I think the motors might get slightly effected with the really cold temps and stability may be compromised. Maybe you've got a bad battery? I've also heard others using heating packs to help the battery last longer in the cold.

    Great video, thanks. You mentioned that you tweaked your GoPro settings following your last shoot. Can I ask what you changed please? I've got the Removu S1 and have been playing around with the settings too.

    • @ma77allen
      @ma77allen  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've found that shooting in 2.7K or 1080p at 60p on my Hero 5 Black seems to give me a smoother result with the S1.

    • @kheb3350
      @kheb3350 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Matthew Allen Better than shooting at a lower frame, e.g. 24 or 30 fps?

    • @ma77allen
      @ma77allen  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, normally shooting at 24 or 30 fps with the proper shutter speed of 1/48 or 1/60 as well would give you smoother looking video with the slight motion blur, but I've found that if I shoot at 60 fps with the shutter at 1/120, I've had the best results while using the S1. I need to do a lot more shooting with it to really find the best options, but I think I'm getting better results with each shoot I do.

  • @davenuerge

    Just to confirm, you shoot with the S1 Gimbal and GoPro at 60 fps but 1/120 shutter speed? I didn't know you could do that.

    • @ma77allen
      @ma77allen  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I shoot at various settings but lately I've been using the 2.7K 60fps. You can manually adjust the shutter speed in the protune settings. I try to use the 180 degree shutter angle rule when possible.

    Did you have the gimbal mounted to the 3 way selfie pole? If so how was it?

    • @ma77allen
      @ma77allen  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ronn Rider It was a little tricky to keep stable with the 3-way pole. It's not the most solid pole out there and the gimbal/camera setup is fairly heavy. I noticed a bit of bounce sometimes when I rode over bumps.

    • @RonnRider
      @RonnRider 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I figured! I have the three way and the Karma Grip and figured it would be a little heavy. I had ordered it S1 in October and as of 2 weeks ago hadn't even started shipping here in Australia so I got a refund and bought the Karma Grip. It's pretty damn good but still want the S1. It looks a little more versatile.

    • @ma77allen
      @ma77allen  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've heard good things about the Karma Grip. That's too bad the S1 didn't ship to you quickly. It's not perfect, but I'm pretty happy with it.

    • @RonnRider
      @RonnRider 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ahhh non of them are perfect but they make for great polished footage for sure. I'll let you know what I think of the Karma Grip once I put it through its paces👍🏾
