- Sea Shepherd Australia's Managing Director, Jeff Hansen, visits the Southern Operations Base in Melbourne to welcome Sea Shepherd Global's newest vessel, the Ocean Warrior, and oversee final preparations for Operation Nemesis, our 11th whale defense campaign in the Southern Ocean.

A big shout out to all the whaling trolls and apologists out there! It's not about angering anyone or disrespecting Japan or any other country. It's about standing up for what's right. It's like standing up to a bully for a friend on the playground except they do it on the oceans with ships. It's unfortunately a lot more expensive than just standing between a bully and his victim after school, but the principle is exactly the same.
The terms of victory should be about far more than the number of whales saved. For instance, we should calculate how many whale fillets and whale patties won't be getting served to naive Japanese consumers who are unwittingly ingesting neurotoxins and damaging their health. God forbid they don't have leaky guts and holes in their blood brain barriers; when they eat the whales and sharks they'll also earn neurological/autoimmune/cognitive diseases for their trouble. A human being would have to be crazy to eat a whale, a shark, or any large species of fish.
Our lifestyles in this modern world have grown so toxic in so many ways, and in response the real doctors are throwing chemicals at us to alter our physiology and make us feel more comfortable while our bodies rot. Please wake up folks. Take care of the ecosystem and take care of ourselves and one another, and we'll be doing alright. There are many important struggles for wildlife and ecosystem out there and SSCS's fight against state-sanctioned whale poachers is a battle that should become an historical role model for ecological action anywhere.

I would do anything to join you men and women on a antarctic campaign. Between Steve Irwin and Paul Watson on TV and the passion that Steve especially had for any animal it really hit me hard that it's the few people like steve and Paul who change the world. it only takes 1 man to change the world and they both individually proved it.

Do you know where and when I can find this series and I totally agree with everything you said above- even joining it when I'm older.
I believe paul or Alex said 2 of the campaigns from summer will be on animal planet this winter. As for the whale campaign sometime next spring/summer since they need to edit it and stuff.

y'all should use some of your celebrity sponsors like Richard Dean Anderson and make some t.v commercials for fundraising. It works for WWF and Greenpeace.

Now im not 100% sure. But if im not mistaken, the japanese whalers were banned from whaling by the International Court of Justice. So I'm guessing they're not going there anymore..? Which might be the case why the 'Bob Barker' was given to the uhm, was it Gabonese Navy I guess. For inspections of fishing vessels and such. Im not saying there'll not be anymore Whale Wars. But I doubt there will be. Though I would love to watch more! Such an amazing group of people.

What kind of engines does the ocean Warrior have?
Hope you guys can find a new tactic to slow down the Japanese Whaling Fleet.. Because if you guys get followed up by one of the Yushin or Shonan u guys cannot find the Nisshin Maru

I don’t understand why they only used the Steve Irwin and Ocean Warrior for the campaign. What happened to the Bob Barker, Sam Simon and Bridgette Bardot? If you used all 5 ships the whalers wouldn’t have a numbers advantage anymore. The Bardot and the Warrior is all the speed you need. The Barker and the Warrior is all the fuel you need. The whalers would have to tail the Steve, Bob and Sam just to keep them away from the Nishin Maru, occupying practically the whole fleet just with tailing. And if something happened to a ship you’d have so many others to rely on. Operating all 5 ships would probably be really expensive, but you’d surely be successful.

here's a thought, if governments won't do anything to stop the Nissin Maru fleet, then just torpedo the dam ships and sink them. people doing illegal activities don't go to court to complain! When the Japanese tried to take Watson to court for taking their ship and knocking off all the illegal netting, the Japanese did not show up because what they were doing was illegal. one torpedo costs less than one week's operation. Sea shepherd are already listed as terrorists in many countries, so like sinking a ship doing illegal activities is going to change that status?
