    I have this same setup and am very happy with it. It really is surprising how few videos there are on this machine let alone the aluma pro gun.

      it's 2024 and this very setup is ~$10k (if you include the mobile cart and the tig kit). still wondering why so few videos?

    That is good seeing a video about the push pull gun me personally I'm using a $340 welder that is a 235 amp output with a Teflon liner and I'm using 5356 al wire and getting the same results as your welder and I have a primeweld TIG 225x w/the water cooler and i find it easier to tack and sometimes weld it out with the susemse Mig-235. I can say for one thing that practice is the key to the best weld.

    arc length should be 1/2 to 3/4 , your buttweld was too much , and try to have your gun virtical over the butt joint , my 255 does 1/2 single pass on steel , but itl do 1/2 aluminum too , 3/64 wire

    Nice Machine i got 30 amp spoolgun .But that mig has so many adjustments and pulser .

    No personal offence intended. But your 20 gauge weld looked like phidos butt. The 3/8 doesnt look to bad. It sounds as if the freq is automaticaly changed with amp setting. My take is and has been for a long time that the thin stuff better sticking with the TIG. And production with the thicker stuff is definately increased with the push pull. I never was lucky enough to have a none worn out push pull gun to work with. So just stuck to TIG. Thanks for the video. Im getting ready to purchase a 255 miller in the next 2 weeks.

      I’m going to have to agree on the Fido’s butt comment, but that’s the best I can do with this setup. I appreciate the feedback

    Not a criticism, just a question. Why so much stick-out? BTW, if you have to tig thicker aluminum, use an argon-helium mixture. If really thick, straight helium with DCEN on the torch.

    • @brentbowles828
      @brentbowles828  2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      If you don’t have about 3/4 stickout while mig welding aluminum you end und welding the tip of the gun to the wire feed, so you do want more then 5/8 stickout. And I totally agree with mixing helium when needing to weld thicker aluminum when your out of amps. Thank you for the question

      @@brentbowles828 Looked like much more than 3/4" stickup. That's why I commented. Been welding Al for years with all types of equipment. Nice job!

    Didn't notice a fume extract or respirator when welding aluminum?

    • @brentbowles828

      I wear a respirator all the time when I’m doing aluminum but in the videos you can’t hear a word I’d say with it on. But I appreciate safety protocol.

    How would you weld thick to thin . Settings ? Like a worn bed floor patch

    • @brentbowles828
      @brentbowles828  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Let’s say your welding 1/4 plate to 1/8. You’ll want to turn your welder up to the settings to weld 1/4 or just below. Then your going to want the wire feeding out of your gun to hit and input the majority of the heat into the thicker metal, allowing for the puddle to spill over onto the thinner metal.

    • @metalheartmachine
      @metalheartmachine 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Always set to the thinner piece of material, then bias your weld to the thicker part to get proper penetration.

      If you read through millers push pull system you actually have to have this much stick out. I assume your thinking this is the same as mig and it isn’t.

    Hi..what the hell makes you think your a welder?

  • @WelderSkills.1
    @WelderSkills.1 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    You know you actually don't need to do all that pausing on the aluminum weld puddle with an alumipro welding gun. Why not just try running a bead without all the pausing like you do with tig. Why? Because the alumipro guns are set up for just straight push welding, and since you are not welding steel, it's really unnecessary to do all that whip and pause technique. And you arc length on welding that 20 gauge definitely was way too far away when welding any and all aluminum a person should only have about 3/8" to 1/2" of wire stick out anymore than that and you are really sacrificing gas coverage for a pure weld.

    Your stick out is way too far, as for sheet aluminium man I wed 1mm shit all day, I wouldn't even call what you did welding, turn down your amps, pause on every spot weld, start the second movement as quick as you finish the first run.
